[Release] Virtual Floppy Drive Add-On v1.1

Post by dougiefresh » Mon Dec 31, 2007 8:39 am

Image Quote from homepage:
This is a virtual floppy drive for Windows NT / 2000 / XP (works also on 2003, it seems).
Note !!! This version works only on 32 bit systems !!!

You can mount a floppy image file as a virtual floppy drive and directly access the contents -- view, edit, rename, delete or create files on a virtual floppy, format a virtual floppy, launch a program on a virtual floppy... almost anything you can do with a real floppy.
Add-On installs the driver, as well as creates associations for the control program, and adds a Control Panel applet for ease of access.

NOTE: This add-on works with Windows 7 32-bit OS!!!! Doesn't require it to be right-clicked on and run as Admin, as the executable has been modified to make it mandatory!

v1.0b1 = Initial Release
v1.0b2 = Added DefaultInstall and DefaultUninstall, turned on shell extensions
v1.1 = Rewrote INF so that installation happens through RUNONCE.
v2.0 = Modified executable to run as admin, added it to the Hardware group in the Control Panel.

Nice, I like this program a lot. With shell extensions this thing could possibly replace Daemon Tools for me. Thanks alot man.

---edit : My bad, I wasn't paying attention well enough. I thought this was ImDisk. If I'm not mistaken dougiefresh made a silent installer for ImDisk a while back and I thought this was an update to it.

Not to burst your bubble keegan, but this addon is for "floppies" while Daemon Tools is for CD images.

I received a report that integrating this add-on does not install the driver as expected. However, right-clicking the INF and selecting Install does. So I modified the INF so that the driver installation takes place through RUNONCE commands, instead of attempting to add the reg settings as the program does.

So version 1.1 has been uploaded and released....

I've modified executable to require it to be run as an Adminstrator. Incidentally, this also makes it work 100% of the time with Windows 7 when run as an Adminstrator!

I also added it to the Hardware group in the Control Panel, making it easier to navigate to when using the Categories setting in the Control Panel.

Link has been updated. Sorry about the late response!
