[BETA] Update Pack 2.2.1 RC1

Post by RyanVM » Sun Feb 24, 2008 2:23 pm

For all you bleeding edge type folks out there, I'm making available Update Pack 2.2.1 RC1. As this is still technically considered a beta release, I'm only making this available via the tracker. If this release proves solid, it will be re-labeled as the final 2.2.1 release.

The RC1 release hopefully ends the timezone whack-a-mole game for good. For the sake of good testing, do NOT use any timezone-related addons with RC1. Also, this release should NOT be integrated over any earlier betas. Finally, this release should be tested with Integrator 1.5.1 Final. It should also work OK with nLite 1.4.1, but confirmation of that would be welcome. Do not report integration bugs with earlier versions of either or you'll make baby Jesus cry.

Known Issues:
  • None that I know of. Speak now if you find any or forever hold your peace.
Changelog here. For those who are interested, here's specifically what's been added for RC1:
  • KB923689
  • KB936782
  • KB938596
  • KB941569
  • KB943055
  • KB944533
  • KB946026
  • KB946501
Download here.

Thanks Ryan! I'm going to tear this one up! I'm getting ready to build my next home rig (parts list here) and the parts should be here this week.

Just in time

And before anyone asks, yes, I left out KB902344 on purpose. I decided I'm only going to add critical WMP9 updates to the pack. If you want the recommended stuff, just stick with WMP11.

BitTorrent has hashing built into it, making it darn near impossible to get a corrupt download, so I didn't really see the point in posting one. And given that I'm on a computer which doesn't have a local copy of RC1 on it and I'm feeling too lazy to go to one that does, you'll have to settle for me saying no and hoping that someone else posts one instead :P

Has the Kabul issue been kicked? Just wondering.... I'm going to integrate later this evening and I'm curious... (not that it will stop me if the Kabul issue hasn't been fixed --- but damn, it sure would be nice if it was fixed!)

Great job. I've been waiting for this and once the download is done, time permitting today, I'll out RyanVM 1.5RC7c to the test though I'm not expecting any problems.

Thanks Ryan. Now will update addons and test with nLite 1.4.1.
Then after use Boooggy's WMP11 slipstreamer and driverpacks.net all the while saving between steps just in case there is a slight problem. Have 4 PC's I can blow up for you if need be :lol:

Had what appeared to be one minor glitch.

Ran RyanVM1.5RC7c, UpdatePack2.2.2RC1, and 29 Addons. No apparent problem except for wmp11slipstreamer_Addon-v01.rar - this started at what I suppose was the right time then a box popped up saying WMP11 was not slipstreamed press OK - did that and Integrator continued with no further problems. Did have the Integrator call DriverPacks and that slipstreamed just fine. ISO was then made with no problems.

Opened log file and determined there was no entry for a problem with the wmp11slipstreamer_Addon - so I have nothing to list as an error message or problem.

Will make another run, probably tomorrow, omitting the wmp11slipstreamer_Addon and, instead, will call the WMP11 slipstreamer from within RyanVM and see if that results in an error message. Will also run DriverPacks and make another ISO.

Overall, well worth waiting for and congratulations to all.

tekkie: Here are some solutions to those updates:
* kb944533 - MrNxDmX's IE7 or OnePiece's IE7 addon
* kb829019, kb928416. kb928366 - DOT NET 1.1, 2.0, & 3.0 with hotfixes
* kb900325 - Electrogen'sMCEUpdatePack (Beta6)

RyanVM: :oops: Yeah, I read the first post. :oops: I know you've tested it, but was hoping (at that time) for a quick answer from other people... I am a little anxious about the Kabul issue. I guess I was a little impatient. Please forgive me....

No Kabul for me either, but then again, I never had that particular problem.

Integrated with nlite 1.4.1, booggys WMP11 slipstreamer, and about 40 other addons.

Works fine on a VM and an Intel-mobo C2D system.

Quick question Ryan/anyone: Any hint regarding your WMP10 addon and the latest pack? (before I try it myself)?

Testing

Post by techtype » Mon Feb 25, 2008 12:52 pm

I used:

Booggys WMP11 Integrator

Then nLite to integrate --

RVMUpdatePack2.2.1RC1.7z
OnePiece_IE7AddOn_2.0.3_ENU.7z

along with a few other things.

Everything looks very good except that I actually live in Kabul and now I have to set my time zone to Kabul manually. LOL

All's good; nlite 1.4.1 doing all, or Integtator 1.5RC7 doing all addons-nlite removing and tweaking; no Timezone issues, no errors-perfect :)

Yeah, this is really funny but then, you don't need to set it up manually, you can use nLite to make that unattended.

Now, I tested RVMUpdatePack2.2.1RC1.7z with nLite, and I can say that it works perfectly, no timezone issue, everything of Windows Update looks fine. Great work Ryan, thanks.

Hello,
I am very new to this, and have been following the discussion on the new release with some interest. I tried to make an integrated build with the new integrator RC7c, Windows XP pro upgrade, slipstreaming SP2, the new RC1 update pack, and Ryan VMs two add on packs. I checked the optimize option on the integrator and burned the ISO with Deep Burn. Unfotunately for me, as the install was running I reached a point where I got about 89% through and recieved an error message that setup can not copy file VSSadmin.exe. I re-inserted the original gold copy of XP pro upgrade and that seemed to have the file copy, but then I received a similar error a little while later for vrinda.ttf. I am not sure if it was the integration or the burn that caused the error, but that was as far as I got and I cancelled the install. I then used the old integrator 1.4.3 and 2.1.11 and everything seemed to burn and copy ok. Just my 2 cents worth, but that was my experience. However, since I am new at this I am not sure what went wrong with the new update pack.

No glitch this time. :D

Reran RyanVM 1.5RC7c, UpdatePack 2.2.1RC1 and same Addons as yesterday except omitted wmp11slipstreamer_Addon-v01.rar

When Integrator was done it invoked Boooogy's WMP11 Slipstreamer (from Advanced) and completed successfully.

I then called DriverPacks and it ran just fine.

Made ISO and it was larger than yesterday. At least the increased size confirmed WMP11 was slipstreamed.

Congratulations on successful improvement/update to RyanVM Integrator from thsi user.
