Siginet's Windows 2K3 Post-SP2 Critical UpdatePack

Post by Siginet » Wed Apr 09, 2008 10:00 pm

Here is my second of many UpdatePacks. ;)

I have decided to release my own line of "Critical" UpdatePacks. Containing only Critical Updates (For The Most Part). The only Updates in this pack that are not Critical Updates are QFECheck.

You can download it here:
Siginet's Windows 2003 Server Post-SP2 "Critical" UpdatePack

I will try to update it just after every Patch Tuesday.

Also Available:
Siginet's Windows XP Post-SP2 "Critical" UpdatePack

comming soon:
Windows XP / 2003 x64 Critical UpdatePack.

Thank you, Siginet.

Blasphemous question  : Will this work with NLite as well as the Integrator?

I'm not sure. I know that netfx.cab is repackaged. But it may still work with nlite without it being repackaged. I reccommend the integrator for integrating it though.

Thanks for the pack! When I installed it, the Windows Update.lnk on the start menu actually takes you to MU (i.e. it is installed). The shortcut wasn't updated?

Other than that, only MSRT remained! Thanks!

Doesn't windows do that by default when you update to Microsoft Update? I'm almost positive it does.

You are right in that it takes you to MU anyway. I am just used to seeing (from RyanVM packs) that it's renamed to Microsoft Update instead of Windows Update.

No big deal really. Thanks for the pack!

Yes, normally either an additional link gets added named "Microsoft Update" (which is what happens if you manually upgrade to MU) or the old link gets renamed or replaced.

When are you releasing the Post-Windows 3.1 Update Pack!?
Gigabyte case GZ-FA2CA-AJB
Gigabyte MA790X-UD4P with Realtek High Definition Audio
HIS Radeon HD 4850 512MB

Just found this. I'm about to install a test W2K3 test server. Will add this and take for a spin.

Thanks Siginet!

Hi Seraph.

Just done a build using the update pack and i have the following in the list:

- Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool - July 2008
- Security Update for Windows Server 2003 (KB951748)
- Security Update for Windows Server 2003 (KB951698)
- Cumulative Security Update for Internet Explorer 6 for Windows Server 2003 (KB950759)
- Cumulative Security Update for ActiveX Killbits for Windows Server 2003 (KB950760)
- Security Update for Windows Server 2003 (KB950762)

I have some office ones and IE7 itself which are naturally not relevant.

I used the following RVM update packs:
WindowsServer2003-PostSP2-Critical-UpdatePack-ENU-x86_Siginet-2008.04.rar

and addons:

TarquelAddons_W2K3-M2DellSrvDrivers_1.1.1.7z
RogueSpearAddonsDotNET20SP1.zip
RogueSpearAddonsISScript.zip
RogueSpearAddonsVC2005.zip
RVMAddonsWGAN_1.7.18.7b.7z
Kels_MemTest_v3.6_addon.cab
Kels_BackGroundCMD_addon.cab
Moonlite_Desklay_Addon_2.0.cab

with 1.5.3 integrator.

If another pack won't get released, is there a list anywhere stating what are the critical updates and QFE updates?

If there is no such list, how can I know which ones are which on Windows Update?

I want to patch Windows in such a way that nothing really gets added, its just patched for security, IE8 or WMP11 are not added, I am probably going to remove IE6 and WMP10 from it anyway.
