If you are using a Vista SP1 image as the base then you dont need to add SP1 update packs, you can just use SP2 standalone and then a few of the extras.

Software needed to create unattend Vista Post-SP1 DVD :

Will the custompack contain unofficial updates that are available on Xables Hotfix Share?

If so, YAY! :D

nope , the custom pack is a kind of addon , a SFX wichcontains directories , like resources\themes
wallpapers , MRT.exe , uxtheme files etc etc.

So you can mount your install.wim and execute it.

how do I integrate the drivers

Post by flamandu » Tue May 06, 2008 1:29 am

How do I integrate the drivers with Vista-Tool?
I have to place all the .inf files into a folder or just the path to the folder where all the drivers are sorted in folders?
I tried to install them do give the path to the driverpack and there where not integrated :?

No just leave the driverpack as it is , you can even ad your own drivers as long as they have an inf file.
And yes it works !

drivers integration

Post by flamandu » Tue May 13, 2008 4:10 pm

I did the integration at x64 edition and it thook about a minute? Can that be true? I checked the Windows/inf/oem's.inf ant there was only one oem0.inf thus that means that they aren't integrated? what i have done wrong?
At the x86 edition it thook about 10 minutes, and i checked if they are in the image in the windows/inf/oem01..... and they are in.
I am wondering :o

And what does it means
Unmount - Dispose ? What does it do to the image?

I'm not too familiar with the whole Vista slipstreaming process as of yet, but I think I got the basics.
Do you guys have a "step-by-step" on how to integrate the stuff using these tools?

My current idea is:
1. slipstream SP1 with vLite
2. Use vLite to integrate hotfixes (or do I use the Vista Tool for that?)
3. Integrate the drivers with Vista Tool, I guess?

I hope this is the correct way of doing it.
Thanks in advance for the help.

1: Slipstream SP1 with Vlite or Vista Integrator.
2: Use Vista-Tool to slip the drivers and hotfixes, and while mounted aply custom files if needed.
3: Make iso.

Post by Ben.Hahlen » Thu Jun 05, 2008 5:02 am

What is the advantage of using this method instead of vLite for everything?

And how does Vista-Tool work exactly (b/c I wasn't able to integrate the hotfixes+dreamscene+extras and drivers with it)?

(Disclaimer: I don't mean to offend anyone, I'm just eager to learn what the differences in the methods are and such).

Awesome work! Thanks to some forthcoming computer upgrades I've got coming, I'm going to have to bite the bullet and go Vista x64 (yay for 4GB of RAM and a DX10 video card ).

Hi
Can i add my own drivers to your current driverpack? if yes then how do i add drivers to your current pack, do i need to do any inf or xml editing?

btw, your driverpack has my ATI's driver (just installed and checked), if i add my updated drivers to your pack, then will vista detect and install the new one or do i have to remove the old one first from your driverpack?

Thank you

You can always add your own drivers, or renew them.
Or even remove drivers that you dont want to be included in your Vista.
Just make sure you remove the old version first.
There is no need to add xmls or anything, as long as the driver has an .inf file
.exe and .msi files are not supported.
And when you have drivers that are missing in the pack, pack them and upload somewhere, i will add them in next version if you want.

I made this pack so most people dont have to search for drivers.

In x64 its a bit more difficult.. but thats another story

Thanks for your hard work muiz. I really appreciate your update packs. :)
I just downloaded Vista x86 Ultimate DreamScene Content 3 [x86] and noticed that the MD5 differs from the one you posted here.
Will you please verify which MD5 is correct?

Is there any way to integrate UpdatePacks without installing WAIK?
I'm on slow connection, WAIK takes too much time to download. :(

Yes, they are normal hotfixes.
Exept the driver part, vlite messes up the drivers.

Yes its all for Vista SP1.
And yes drivers can be requested, but you need to upload them somewhere for me.
And only drivers with .inf files are supported.
No .exe and .msi files

Hi muiz, thanks a lot for your awesome work. It would be nice if you put which hotfixes are included in your pack, but no matter ;)

By the way, a newbie question, does Vista x86 support 4GB with this update pack ?

Ok thanks for reply muiz. Well, a list just to know what's included, like RyanVM does for his UpdatePack. But no matters, I will check by myself :)

Cheers,
Kal

since it's recommended for hotfix/driver integrator because vlite messes up the drivers, but in my case I have Windows AIK installed and ready to go, but Vista-Tool gives an error: "Windows AIK is not installed !!"
