Yes, we know. :)What I'd like to know is whether it's stable enough to be included in an Update Pack. Maybe we should wait until there's some feedback on it. ;)

Hmmm. Something is wrong with this update. When you launch qfecheck after installing this update, it says that this one should be reinstalled....

It seems to install properly on XP x64. Try the /v switch with QFECHECK and see which files fail.

Well, on a fresh Windows XP Pro SP3 FRA install :

Code: Select all

KB942288-v3: This hotfix should be reinstalled.

The following files are not valid in the system catalog:
                C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\MSISIP.DLL
                C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\MSIHND.DLL
                C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\MSI.DLL
                C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\MSI.DLL
                C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\MSISIP.DLL
                C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\MSIHND.DLL

Sorry somehow I've missed that...
I don't read all the sections of the forum (that takes too much time I don't have).
I've tried to search, but there were to many false positive results.
Still, mea culpa.

I'll check how it behaves on my system...

Hmm, that's really strange... If I hack sfc_os.dll, i don't have qfecheck warnings anymore about this update.

How could I fix this ?

Ok, I figured out what was the problem. If I make an update pack with this update and that I use english CAT file (kb942288-v3.cat), then I don't have any warnings from qfecheck anymore. I don't know if it's safe to use an english CAT file on a french Windows XP. What do you think about this ?

I'm not sure, kal. The x64 package includes two CATs: a v3 and a v4. I haven't seen that happen before. I'll be doing some experimenting to see if one or both are needed.

EDIT: Only KB942288-v4.CAT is needed. :)

I've installed the update on my system and so far there were no problems.
Qfecheck is also fine.
