Can you post the changes since Ryan's 1.0.3 pack? I am just curious what was updated and what's new.

I believe the changelog is very close to mine. you can take a look at second floor(where I post changelog) to see whether it helps.
I just don't get much spare time or i could have take the job because I like Ryan's style in making an updatepack.

@keloo05

many changes since RyanVM last pack in January 2009. it's been 4 months!

look at this as a new beginning so if you read the 1st post everything is listed as to what is included in the pack. when updates are released i will then update the changelog.

Thank you for sharing this, user_hidden. :)

I haven't fully vetted this pack, but some cursory testing has revealed issues with Win32K.sys in update pack v1.0.0:
 • The file in your pack is from the GDR branch, not QFE.
 • You have entries in qfeUpPck.inf for KB958282 which are unnecessary with KB958690.
 • KB958282.cat should be replaced with KB958690.cat.
Additionally, line 701 in qfeUpPck.inf:

Code: Select all

HKLM,"System\CurrentControlSet\Services\EventLog\Application\MsiInstaller","EventMessageFile",0,"%11%\msimsg.dll"

...should be replaced with:

Code: Select all

HKLM,"System\CurrentControlSet\Services\EventLog\Application\MsiInstaller","EventMessageFile",0,"%11%\msi.dll"

I was thinking there could be a way a select few who could update Ryan's update pack little by little in their spare time, instead of Ryan alone and he can have time to do other things IRL.

I for one don't wanna spend all day hunting for new hotfix releases (I only do GDR in mine usually only Windows Update listed updates), and Microsoft tends to silently update older hotfixes that hotfixes with a higher KB# doesn't necessarily contain the latest build.

Hi user_hidden

Just finished integrating addon's and updatepack's and done a install into vmware workstation, this is what I done, "I wanted something different"

Rick XP to MCE Updatepack by ricktendo 64
Net Framework 1.1 by onepiece
Media Player 11 by yumeyao
SP3 Updatepack by user_hidden
Internet Explorer 8 by onepiece

All integrated with latest Nlite in that order and installed into vmware workstation perfectly "great work all" I will try a clean install of this disk next, will let you know

Does it not cause problems when you integerate to updates packs together? I see you did Rick XP to MCE Updatepack by ricktendo 64
and SP3 Updatepack by user_hidden?

Hi mastern

There was no integration problem with the two packs, you can find rick's xp to mce updatepack at www.wincert.net just look under os transformation packs.

It seems to work ok in vmware workstation but comes up with svchost.exe error once booted from a clean install of the disk I created earlier.

Just ran your update pack using RVM_Integrator_1.6.1 beta 2.1 with many addons and DriverPacks Base 9.02.01 - no errors or glitches.

Good job :D

Ryan, does 'cool' mean the pack meets your specs or ????

Thanks to everyone, user_hidden too!!, for their work in updating Ryans packs and the additional effort they go through to make sure Ryan is happy with the results.

Sorry user_hidden

I should have done this in the first place, I integrated SP3 updatepack by user_hidden, wmp11 addon by yumeyao and IE8 addon by onepiece all with ryanvm integrator 1.6 final, formatted my drive and it installed perfectly, no issues at all.

Thanks mate.

Hi user_hidden

Could you perhaps provide an alternative to the ripid share link for your update pack. Having problems downloading from there. Either my IP is in use or I have exceeded my quota.

Thanks in advance.

:o I just saw this thread, I can try and upload this pack to siginet's software shared addons
if I don't find any limitation for the file in size I'm allowed to upload to then I will share my account with you ...
unless someone will offer you a better way or some hosting solution

thanks for updating the pack based on ryans.., I believe a good Idea could be in having a few people for modding an updatepack keeping it updated ,the same way few of us did\do for keeping the integrator alive & updated whenever someone has time..

it can be touched and updated whenever there is a mod around with a little time to spare so whenever s\he feels to update it a little for everyone's sake ...etc
testing wont be a problem there are always a few users hanging about not in the same time <-when ever some one is back and ready for a new integration , he then can possibly rely on this pack...or help test ..thats the whole point, anyways..

What is the purpose of the older versions of msxml4 that reside in the ASMS\40 directory?

I deleted the entire "40" directory and haven't found any problem so far, though I'm only a few minutes into this build.

Same purpose as any other runtime library.

If you never run an application that uses this version of msxml, then you'll never need it. But if you run an application that does need it, don't be surprised if that app blows up.

I've been using Ryan's Updatepack ever since. I'm having problem when installing Serif FontManager version 2 or 3. it shows an error message that need to restart. same with Onepiece.
Now I'm running this Update pack and the error message is gone.
Nice work user_hidden. I'm looking forward to your future packs.
