[Release] Jcarles' Compression bin -->2006/03/10<--
This utility allows you to drag and drop any file to it's window and have it run modifype and makecab with the LZX compression at it's highest setting (equivalent to the compression used on the Windows CD) on the file. The file is compressed and written to the same filename in the same location with an underscore replacing the last character in the filename. IMPORTANT: modifype.exe and makecab.exe MUST be in your path (preferably \windows\system32). This handles Singular files only but can proccess many at the same time if alot of them are selected and dragged onto the Compression Bin.
MUST have .net installed!!!

thank you!, thank you!, thank you so much kel. yes!!!!!!!!!!
vista this thing is a tool that is going to improve the speed of your addon creations, it compresses to cabs singel files at highest compression, but at same time it signs them with modifype so that windows setup doesnt hiccup over them
thanks again kel ur the man.

Don't sweat petty things....or pet sweaty things
@kel, i recently found out something interesting with the cpl version of the addon, just open it, right click it, and check the box that says to associate with all files, and voila, you dont need the sendto version anymore because it adds it to the context menu of all files

the registry doesnt need to be edited, all you do is run compression bin from the control panel and do what stated above, and the program autoedits the registry to add it to the context menu
, i was merely stating the fact that it was an easter egg in his addon he may not have realized existed.

Kelsenellenelvian, I use both of these addons along with the Cabtool addon with the following modification to the CBin2 addon:
I change entries_Cbin.ini to entries_Cbin2.ini and re-cab it.
Am I making more work for myself (the ini file doesn't need changing?) or will this work to have all three cabbing options available?
Or, should I only pick one (Cbin2 as SendTo) or the other (CBin CPL)?

Kel, the SendTo_addon is broken. Filenames do not match between inf, ini, and actual. When the filenames are made to agree it still won't install. I have .NET v1.1 and 2.0 installed. Any chance for a quick fix?
I suspect there's a similar promblem with your CabTool addon, but I haven't tested it yet.

Well just call me picky too then. I adore CAB Tool but it's a real bitch having to have to rename all my cab files again after using it just to get the proper case back into the file name.JoeyJoe wrote:Only thing about CabTools that peeves me off is how it puts all the letters in capitals on the filenames. Call me picky, but i hate seeing my addons like that.
Still, I have yet to find a better tool for the job so....

Personally I do not like to give Compression Bin it's file association cos if you accidentally double click on a file you already compressed the darned thing compresses the compressed file again. LOL I found that the hard way one day with an addon where the original DLL file was buried 4 layers deep inside its own archive DUH
