[Release] Windows Update ActiveX Control

Post by Daemonforce » Wed Nov 09, 2005 9:00 am

Good morning November 9th.

This is the Windows Update ActiveX control you are first prompted for upon visiting the Windows Update site. It's not very big, but it can become a real nuisance on a slow home/office network and I decided to work on this since I can't find it anywhere on here. I don't use Ryan's UpdatePack not because I don't trust it, but I just don't trust it!
This should not clash with anything and in worst case, RyanVM's Update Pack will most likely overwrite it.

So here it is for you people that love doing things one step at a time: DaemonforceAddon_wuweb_site-0.9.cab

If this does exist somewhere on here I'd like to know about it. It works perfectly on my install post-SP2 integration and I hope no one has any problems with it. This is my first attempt at making an addon using the RyanVM Integrator, so I'm expecting RyanVM or at least Siginet to judge the hell out of it. I'll refine it if needed or possible.

Now I need to figure out how I'm going to do this with Flash 8 and maybe Shockwave. -_-

RyanVM's Update Pack will most likely overwrite it.
No it will not overwrite it. Addons overwrite UpdatePacks. ;)

I'm using the Windows Update v6 addon by bonedaddy (http://www.ryanvm.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=641)

Will this addon conflict with one of bonedaddy?

When you use two packs to solve one problem, one of three things are going to happen:
1. You wind up with a blank entry somewhere in the installation and a function either whines or just takes up space.
2. You have one or more "missing" files from the overwrite.
3. The products are written in perfect synchronization and you get no problems or one of the above.

I can't connect to the site right now and I'm not even going to bother with verification. I have stated what my addon does in regard to it not being previously installed. If it isn't broke, don't fix it!
