The inf should look like this;

Code: Select all

;###################################################
;# Orcoxp's Image Resizer Powertoy addons pack
;###################################################

[Version]
Signature=$Windows NT$

[Optional Components]
Resizer

[Resizer]
OptionDesc   ="Image Resizer Powertoy"
Tip          ="Image Resizer Powertoy"
Modes        =0,1,2,3
RegisterDlls =DLLs.Register

[DLLs.Register]
30,,phototoys.dll,1

this problem is easily fixed just extract and edit resizer.in_ replace the entries in yellow and add the entries in cyan, or alternatively just copy paste the code under the statement REVISED!!

Code: Select all

;########################################################################################################
;# Kelsenellenelvian's ultimate addons pack
;########################################################################################################

[Version]
Signature=$Windows NT$

[Optional Components]
Resizer

[Resizer]
OptionDesc	 ="Image Resizer Powertoy"
Tip		     ="Image Resizer Powertoy"
Modes		 =0,1,2,3
CopyFiles	 =Resizer.Copy
RegisterDlls =DLLs.Register

[SourceDisksNames.x86]
1="Resizer Pack Files",[color=yellow] "Resizer.cab",,"i386"[/color]

[DestinationDirs]
Resizer.Copy   = 30

[SourceDisksFiles]
phototoys.dll=1

[Resizer.Copy]
phototoys.dll

[DLLs.Register]
30,,phototoys.dll,1
with this
REVISED!!

Code: Select all

;########################################################################################################
;# Kelsenellenelvian's ultimate addons pack
;########################################################################################################

[Version]
Signature=$Windows NT$

[color=cyan][DefaultInstall]
OptionDesc	 ="Image Resizer Powertoy"
Tip		     ="Image Resizer Powertoy"
Modes		 =0,1,2,3
CopyFiles	 =Resizer.Copy
RegisterDlls =DLLs.Register[/color]

[Optional Components]
Resizer

[Resizer]
OptionDesc	 ="Image Resizer Powertoy"
Tip		     ="Image Resizer Powertoy"
Modes		 =0,1,2,3
CopyFiles	 =Resizer.Copy
RegisterDlls =DLLs.Register

[SourceDisksNames.x86]
1="Resizer Pack Files",[color=yellow] "phototoys.dl_",,"i386"[/color]

[DestinationDirs]

also note like xable said you should replace the header of your inf with

Code: Select all

;###################################################
;# Orcoxp's Image Resizer Powertoy addons pack
;###################################################
--note the entries in cyan arent really needed but if you want to test your addon then just keep it, it comes in handy

It`s still a mess orc, though it will probably still work. (in theory).

ATM your copying the file over twice once in the inf and once in the ini (it get`s added to dosnet).

The way i showed removes the file copy from the inf, you only have to use file copy in the inf if your using a sub-cab, which your not, and the only time you need to use a sub-cab is when your copying files to somwhere outside of the windows folder.

I think I would prefer to have the filecopy in the INF file rather than the ENTRIES file.

Does it make any difference?

This is what my entries file will look like...is this right?

Code: Select all

Sorry I see what's different there now.

Has anyone got this to work?

@dgelwin
Regarding your post from Mon Nov 21, 2005 7:19 pm...does this put the phototoys.dll in ShellEx? and resizer.inf in the INF folder?

yep it works fine :wink:
Thanks.

I don't know what ShellEx is but it puts phototoys.dll in the C:\ after an installation. I just hide it, no biggie

@orcoxp, using the the copy files functions, thats how it would work, but you would have to modify your inf to suit.

But isn't Directory ID 30 used for ShellEx?
And isn't that copying the file over twice again?

This addon seems to conflict w/ the "Shell Image Verbs" (view in ShellExView) from Windows Picture and Fax viewer. When I click on "resize pictures", nothing happens. If I disable the shell image above, it works fine.
EDIT: Well it seems that it just conflicts when I integrate some more addons, if I just have RVMUpdate pack and this addon, it works fine.

There is an error that Resizer.cab contains a "powertoy.dll" but Resizer.inf is looking for "phototoys.dll", So the addon never succeeds in installing.

Yes it didn't install for me either. But I only tested with just it and no other addons.

Update: I Have done some digging and found the easiest way to do this

1. Download the image resizer exe: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/down ... rtoys.mspx

2. install on machine which will extract the MSI file to: C:\WINDOWS\Downloaded Installations

3. Take the msi file and incorporate into RunoneEX with the switch /passive

this worked hope that helps anyone and sorry if its telling people how to suck eggs thats not my intention im just enjoying getting these little things to work for me :)
