RogueSpear found an issue between OpenOffice and .NET (I think) but I can't remember what it was. IIRC, it interfered with the OO installer. His site is down at the moment so I can't verify. You can try leaving OO out of the integration, then installing from the desktop and see if that fixes it. OK...
