That order is correct. You've been here long enough to know by now--to have seen quite a few posts asking the same question. Believe what you already seem to know. ;) The only advice I can give you is not to get carried away adding things with the Integrator, or taking things away with nLite. Test ...

what's the best order of mods to build a stable XP cd?

i usually do things in this order:

RVM Integrator
NLite
Driverpacks

is there a better order to do things, and if so why?

duh? it's generally accepted that you don't need all those extra updates unless circumstances force you to. they're not meant for general consumption. they're specific fixes for specific problems.

the first link is no longer available, and the second link improperly sets the SystemSetupInProgress value to 1, which breaks a huge amount of software if you happen to run it after setup (like i just did).

not sure if it will work with nlite.

but you can integrate it with the RVM integrator and then nlite your CD, that's how i do it.

the only difference between this addon and the other one is this one doesn't add a bunch of registry entries.

sounds like you're not working with a clean source. neither Ryan's update pack nor this addon pack do that. to see if autologon is enabled, open up winnt.sif which is located in the i386 folder of your source. scroll down to the [GuiUnattended] section and see if there's an entry which says: AutoLog...

i agree with your observations about %temp%. i guess all that's needed then is a double-check to see if cleanup was successful? if there are file-access issues with removing the temp folder, then moving it would be a very good idea i think. if not to %temp% then to somewhere at the root of the drive...

my oversize CD is due to "rvmtemp" being left behind in the i386 folder.

bug with Integrator 1.4 and a request for a small change

why isn't there a forum for the Integrator? anyways, here's the deal: Integrator 1.4 sometimes fails to cleanup after itself, leaving a "rvmtemp" folder inside the I386 of your source. could you please set the default working directory of Integrator to %temp% instead so that if it fails cleanup is d...

let it show for the record:

wga (aka legitcheckcontrol.dll) allows you to download updates from microsoft/windows update.

wga notifications (aka wgalogon.dll & wgatray.exe) is unnecessary bloat that doesn't impart any extra functionality.
