Anyone getting the error dialog box "There is more than one instance of WinSnap. Setup is continuing howere it may not function as expected. OK" when using Add/Remove Windows Components? Uninstallable version. I see the same error in my C:\Windows\setuperr.log, but haven't noticed any problems from...

I, too, say thank you.

Even got WINNT.SIF working better. Not that I'd know as much as others here, I can say that from an end users point of view my system seems to be more stable. Just a "seat of the pants" observation but I've been making them for a long time.

Good job!

Thanks for that.

I understand that winnt.exe and winnt32.exe play separate parts during the installation, each using its own file unattend.txt or winnt.sif but this still is not enough of an education for me yet.

I still struggling but am making slow headway.

Have you solved your problem yet? Are you placing the winnt.sif file in the I386 directory? ViVa gave me a copy of his WINNT.SIF and I slightly modified it THEN PUT IT INTO MY I386 SUBDIRECTORY. I thought setupmgr.exe did that for me. It's really amazing how small details like that can get left out...

There is nothing in my uberpack that needs any runtimes. It is all fully singular apps and additions. What are the issues you are having again? Is it an english version of windows? Thanks for the help. 1st, I have an old Windows 3.1 application which runs in a virtual DOS machine. This application ...

I think my problem with your Uber Pack is that some utilities need additional run times. I ask which addon would you recommend for me to include with yours so I can test it by itself in VMware?

I appreciate the guidance but I'm really getting frustrated at this point. When using setupmgr.exe, I allow the default subdirectory and point the files to be copied to my XPcd subdirectory and the process completes properly. I see the unattend.txt file properly created with the attendant unattend.b...

Seraph, Thanks. I'm reading about the configuration options and I realized that they are about the same. WINNT.SIF for a CD install, etc. I'm modifying the UNATTEND.TXT from the subdirectory where I allowed nLite to prepare from my original WinXP w/SP2 CD. Naming it to WINNT.SIF has caused me severa...

UNATTEND.TXT vs. WINNT.SIF

I understand the concepts of each but am confused when and where to make the changes and the protocol of the divisions within the files.

Might someone give ma a one-liner as to the difference and when to use each?

Thanks!

After bumping around a bit here, I want to say what an effort Ryan! The resulting install CD at the moment contains just the latest 2.1.4 release but I am amazed. I feel very encouraged at moving forward with the switchless installers I've d/l'd and working toward a solution for my specific Gigabyte...

Seraph, All fair enough. There's a learning curve I see and I need to mull around a bit to understand exactly what can be accomplished. As I mentioned before, it's been a while since I formatted and reloaded any opsys distribution on that box so I may need to refamiliarize myself with just the stand...

Gigabyte 8KNXP preparations for opsys installation

This motherboard has an Intel chipset driver that needs to first be installed before those for the SATA, network and AC'97 drivers. Furthermore, Intel offers several different versions of the SATA and network drivers as does Realtek for its audio driver. Not having installed on this m/b for a while ...

Seraph, I am hoping to find that the software programmers here aren't myopically Windows-centric to the exclusion of other software options... I would say most people here should meet your expectations. A VideoLAN addon has already been created... I somewhat expected but wasn't sure. VLC is a good c...

Ryan, Well, I'm back with some more questions, if in the right forum. WinUpdateList v. 1.12 and more

Ryan, Your work is admirable and I intend to understand more quickly. I have two issues that need to be addressed: 1 - In the previous drop you utilized WinUpdateList v. 1.12 by NirSoft but I am showing an I-Spy passsword cracker/stealer from CounterSpy and wondered if you might have any idea why th...
