I'm pretty sure Firefox 4 will use separate processes. I know one of the biggest complaints the Firefox guys have gotten is that it lacks memory management, and the dev team has said that they'll focus on that with v4.

I get asked to install kb898461 and kb892130. But I did use 5eraph's addon, which seemed to have caused a "bchoice.exe not found" error during txtsetup. I had to press ESC to skip it. It's not Microsoft's fault (except for Office, obviously). It's the fault of programmers hardcoding paths and version requirements directly into their software. Best practice is to check for the availability of functionality.

Bear in mind that RogueSpear's IaStor and VIA VRAID addons cannot be used simultaneously unless you build a custom MassStorage DriverPack. The reason is because IaStor cannot be used in conjunction with MassStorage DriverPacks, whereas VIA VRAID must be used in conjuction with it.

For all intents and purposes, IE7Pro is compatible with IE8. I use it all the time.

I maintain an IE7Pro addon. I know I don't change the home page with it, so you might consider using that instead. I don't think I made it uninstallable, though.
