Just did another reformat, testing again. Confirmed, installing the latest IE8 udpate, fixes the problem.

Trevor12's Hotfix package is good, Though I would consider taking out the .Net portions, as they are not all in there and another guy has an AIO.Net pack which installed all thru Jan2018.

Have you tried my suggestion above? You should only have to manually install 2-4 updates then MU/WU should work as expected for any other updates available. 11.0.159.5 is now installed, along with a new install of XP ... I do like it, very nice. It does warn me that some of the features wont work, as they are not in XP, but new stuff in W10. But no errors, very light, very nice

SSD is very fast, my older computer tops out at 270-280mbs ... intel ICH10DO south bridge. Which is nice. Maybe some day I may get a new computer and get some of that speed :))

I have not read that, thought you may be correct. That said, I have made it a practice to just install all version, allow MSupdate to update them all and the optimize them, so in the end, its all good. Abodi makes a real good dotnet installer, it installs all of them. Latest version has all updates thru nov2017. So I do recommend to peeps to use that, instead of the hours it takes to download and install the dotnet fixes thru MSupdate. Wonder if Harkaz would consider updating these other hot fixes...

I say its better to NOT include the dotNET with in the OS install. That "dotNetFx_AIO_x86_20171010" will install completely, all the dotNets, fully updated. Though, I think there was a new dot net in December, but you can get that one from MSu. I have used this VC++ installer for the last few months...

Extensions are your friend: I use "uBlock Origin" with most of the lists offered and "uBlock Origin Extra" and "HTTPS Everywhere(2017.7.5)" older version still works on older Chrome just fine. I also use "Don't track me Google".

This combo is really light and keeps me pretty well safe

You didn't need to remove .Net, but to run the OPTIMIZATION for it, which is included in Harkaz's notes ... nLite is the tool to use, you can SLIP STREAM the QFE pack into it. You may want to also slipstream the POS update pack as well, this way you have all the updates thru Aug17, on first boot!
