Tried it when mounted, but it gave an error as posted above. Now when trying to install I get the error 0x80300001 - Cannot install to the current location. VUI does only work for a Vista without SP1, after it is SP1, it doesnt work anymore.
And Vista-Tool works for both.
And works consistently, if not, somethings wrong at your end im afraid.

vsp1cln.exe is in your system32 folder (Vista SP1), so just open a cmd and type vsp1cln.exe /?

You cant open the .cab inside the .msu , but you can open the .msu to get the .cab file, and that file is all you need. I still dont know what you try to proof here, but it workes flawless. It doesnt matter from who the packs are, i gues they all contain the same updates. And about the size , just save one if you only use one image. So if you want to use Ultimate, save only Ultimate. Nope its not, winrar will do fine, all the Vista packs i made are done with winrar.

Since there are lots of updates now, and you want to keep all versions, the size of your install.wim will be to big.
So its better to use only 1 or 2 versions.

Just make some folders (Never use spaces in your paths) like : D:/Vista, D:/driversx86, D:/driversx64, D:/hotfixes, D:/vista-tool, D:/mount Never mix x64 and x86 drivers. And unpack the hotfixes depents on wich version of Vista, cause the extras cannot slipstreamed in NON Ultimate. If you slipstream...
