AVG Free 2013 indicates a Trojan in the RVMUpdatePackSP2

Post by ancvi » Wed Aug 28, 2013 12:10 am

Hello Forum members

Downloaded the XP sp2 update package from two of the mirrors sites, 1 & 3 I think and AVG Free 2013 indicates a Trojan in both of the RVMUpdatePackSP2_2.2.5.7z files
Trojan threat name Trojan Horse Generic33.AZPZ, has anyone with AVG installed had this come up, is this a false detection?

Have an image of the screen capture but don't know how to upload jpg file

regards ancvi

It's a four-and-a-half-year-old updatepack. When tested on VirusTotal, the only antivirus product out of 43 that detects anything is AVG. And it's a generic threat, which is iffy at best. Definitely a false positive.

If it can be downloaded from the KB article then it has gone public aka official, as in not private.
