Windows Update...Update

Hey Ryan,

First, thanks for all the hard work.

Second, I have a working install CD for Windows XP SP2 that has all the post-SP2 updates integrated/installed. The only thing that I've not been able to figure out is how to update the Windows Update "software" itself.

I see at the very bottom of your current included Update Pack list that you have it included. After a LOT of searching on Microsoft's site, I finally found the latest Windows Update CAB and have extracted the 4 files. According to the instructions, I right-click and choose install from the INF. How would I go about doing this for an install CD?

You can just overwrite the files on the CD with the newer ones

IUCTL.CAB does not exist anywhere on the CD.

The internal contents of that CAB are as follows:

IUCTL.CAT
IUCTL.DLL
IUCTL.INF
IUENGINE.DLL

Of those files, the only one that exists on the CD is IUENGINE.DL_

Again, I'm not quite sure what to do with the files as I'm not just overwriting anything. Even if the IUENGINE.DL_ is replaced, it's a process in and of itself to recompress a file, and integrate it from what I've read.

Or just copy them from an already updated Windows XP SP2 system.

i used the files that were discussed in this thread, but still had to update WU. maybe there is a newer version out there?

If you have updated WU, than these files are now in you System32 folder. Copy them from there.
