Are you using the Integrator or nLite? Hacking any files? Removing CAT files?

Your problem doesn't lie directly with my pack - it lies with something else you're doing in addition to it.
I am using:
Ryanvm Integrator
(Update Pack + Booggy's WMP11(venilla) + Directx Feb +WGA)

nLite
(IE7 + KB928089 only) I tried KB928090 but that didn't work at all. So this time I tried my last month combination.

No file have been changed/hack/removed, except of those HDA inf file.

I, too, say thank you.

Even got WINNT.SIF working better. Not that I'd know as much as others here, I can say that from an end users point of view my system seems to be more stable. Just a "seat of the pants" observation but I've been making them for a long time.

Good job!

Installed via VM about 7 times and once in real hardware...no problems to report with the pack. About to update my primary box which hasn't been updated since ryan's pack 2.1.5b.

Thanks Ryan!

There's a thread related to that fix in the nLite forums. I'm betting mfc40u.dll didn't get properly replaced in i386.
- KB923689
It's not in the pack, duh.

@RyanVM

I was wondering about how you do your UpdatePack.

Do you follow a specific procedure about how an update will be added in the UpdatePack ? (Like which file you read, how you understand it, and what you do so that everything works ?). I know it's not a small question, but I'm interested in how you are working to achieve an UpdatePack.

Thank you, m-p{3}

Is there any chance we would see 2.1.7a with a KB927891
before March 2.1.8. release?
Thx
:)

Ryan wants to know if KB927891 works as intended without side effects before considering it, Fed. I have created an addon for people to use if they really want it. If you choose to use it then please post feedback in that thread.

EDIT: KB927891 has just been publicly released. Addon post updated. No changes to the addon were necessary.

I also think that MS will eventually officially release that fix once it passes their regression tests.

Hey boss,
Just loaded my primary box using your latest and greatest and after hitting MU, KB905474 reared it's ugly head again. Why won't M$ leave us alone?
Apart from that, the packs are perfect. No issues on real hardware. :D

When you select multiple addons to be integrated using RyanVM's Integrator, does it integrate them in the order that they are displayed in the "Choose Addon CAB(s), (Optional) box, or do you have to integrate them one by one to be able to get them in the order you want?

Would it be possible to get you to add the K8 and CoreDuo drivers to this pack? I don't use a Core Duo, but the AMDK8 drivers are an easy add, they have the K6 and K7 already in there all that would need doing is adding them to correspond with those settings. The K8 drivers haven't been upgraded in a long time, I don't concieve of them upgrading those anymore. They aren't very big and aren't very hard to add to it, it's only two entries, one in TXTSETUP.SIF and the other in DOSNET.INF. Since you are decompressing the driver.cab and recompressing it, it would be nice to have them be added to it when it's doing it's thing. Thanks for the great work you keep doing for us, Ryan...

EDIT: Also, please don't add the WMP11 to this pack, I for one won't ever use it... IE7 on the other hand would be a nice addition.

There are 2 or 3 not included in 2.1.7 - ( 1 or2 Released in february if I remember well) and this one. Not security, just updates.

That's why I suggested that the AMD64 / EMT64 drivers be added to the pack so there wont need be any need to hunt for and download the likes of this just to implement the two drivers, (well three files for the AMD64, don't know about the EMT64 see above.) I already do it another way, but if it were included in the pack, that would be one less item I would have to add to my slipstreams and if done to where they are put into the Drivers.cab file during the phase where the RyanVMUpdate is done, then that would make it even better. I understand if Ryan doesn't want to do it for whatever reason, I just thought it would be nice if he could/would do it. I can understand that he doesn't want to get into adding drivers to it, but for something like this, which is a really small addition, I thought he may be willing to do it. For ex. I don't expect him to add like ATI / nVidia drivers for video cards that change all the time, but processor drivers rarely get updated and are usually tiny such as the AMD64 drivers are.

Oh, though most know about this already, there is a critical update for IE7, my system just updated it today....

Personally, I like WMP11 and I don't care for IE7 and don't use it.
Please forgive my stupidity...I'm just trying to make sense of it all

There is no IE update since 13.02.2007 on Microsoft. Only an update d IE7 for Sever 2003 with SP1 and SP2.

By contrary, there is new one for Wndows Media Format 11.

Hey,

Ryan has stated several times that he has no plans to include IE7 in his update pack but that he may release a separate add-on.

A separate add-on would be great but to have it as part of the update pack I feel would be a huge mistake as IE7 is so unpopular.

MrNxDmx already made one. It's quite good, so it seems (at leas to me) that ryan needn't bother making an addon for ie7, let alone putting it in the update pack.

My worthless opinion is that IE7 and WMP11 were developed with Vista in mind, not Xp. So they should not be included with any Xp specific Update pack like Ryan's. As a matter of fact, Ryan's update pack makes a fresh Xp install a mature and stable OS unlike MS ever thought they could have had. If it weren't for marketing, they should have kept Xp (w/ RVM update packs). :)
