I installed .NET 3 and .NET 3.5 beta, as mentioned above, but MSXML6sp1 did not appear in Add/Remove Programs. (I just checked before I wrote this.)

I tried it and got an error message, again, saying: The administrator has set policies to prevent this installation. Since I am the Administrator and the only user of this system I don't have a clue as to what that means and I have no clue as to what policy I would unset to allow installation.

I'm also unable to install the .net3 framework, but with RyanVM's 2.1.9 package.

More precise: I'm unable to install it from the Microsoft Update site (reproducible), but discovered that the Redistributable Package does install. Then the Update site no longer wants to install it as well. The resulting MSXML version is 6.00.3880.0. Is this correct?

What might be wrong here?

Versions 1.1 and 2.0, their service packs, updates and all the stuff, just installed fine from the Microsoft Update site. Just 3.0 refuses to install...

Thanks!

In an attempt to mimic a famous Dutch soccer coach:

Is your memory that good, or are my search capabilities that bad?

I just knew that I'd responded to that problem before and went looking for it :P

OK, see if this addon fixes it for you.

Please don't hotlink Ryan's files, Raider. That particular file was originally available from the thread for Update Pack 2.1.8. Ryan broke all links to it because it is no longer needed, as he says in the post just above yours.

FWIW, I've decided that MSXML6 won't be in the next pack in any form, which will resolve the problem once and for all.

Seraph I swear that was not there when I posted. I know that is what the time stamp says, but that post was not there.

My apologies
