Post by RyanVM » Mon Jun 25, 2007 12:04 pm

What's New
Version 2.1.11
  • Added KB913808 Hotfix.
  • Added KB929123 Hotfix. Replaces KB923694 and KB933612 Hotfixes.
  • Added KB933566 Hotfix. Replaces KB931768 Hotfix.
  • Added KB934428 Hotfix. Replaces KB923293 Hotfix.
  • Added KB935839 Hotfix. Replaces KB924867 Hotfix.
  • Added KB935840 Hotfix.
  • Added KB936357 Hotfix. Replaces KB885626 Hotfix.
  • Updated Malicious Software Removal Tool to version 1.30.
For the love of God, read the nLite or Integrator directions for how to properly integrate this pack.

Notes
  • nLite 1.3 or RyanVM Integrator 1.4.3 is required to properly integrate this release.
  • Yes, this is exactly the same as what was posted as a pre-release previously.
  • If you used nLite to integrate the pack and are having problems, PLEASE read this thread before reporting problems.
Download Here
Or From My Website

Known Issues
  • Some people are still having problems installing products which include MSXML6 (such as Visual Studio 2005) due to the presence of the MSXML6 SP1 DLL on the system. The simplest solution for this problem is to download and install the MSXML6 SP1 MSI prior to installing whatever software is trying to install MSXML6.
If you do run into anything you think is an error, be sure to consult with the FAQ on my site before asking about it here.

Thank you very mcuh Ryan, I can rebuild this damned PC that's in desperate need now.

I wish you the best of luck with everything in your life, all I hope is that we do see you around from time to time with a release.

I understand that you're entering a new chapter in your life and you'll need a lot of time, I've been going through it myself the last few months (not so much the degree part, but starting a new job and trying to maintain computer-related projects).

One thing I've discovered is it ends up being a good wind-down thing to do for after work (in other words it will seem more fun because you're doing other things), so hopefully it might end up being a similar thing for you. Even if your next few releases ain't as frequent for a while (eg: bi-monthly packs for a while instead of monthly) it would still keep you active plus keep all your fans happy that you are providing them with what they need.

Anyways, I leave it in your hands to decide what you want to do, and whatever you decide to do you can be assured that we all support you.

Peace...

Hi. I have a little doubt. I have been making integrations since November, i had my setbacks and with help from here I've been able to continue. I have a new problem i cant find a way to overcome. My last working integration was with the April one and since then all my cds work perfectly in virtual PCs and my personal PC, but no other PC wants to boot from the CD.I tried June update pack, went back to the version of Magic ISO I was making the successful integrations, tried extracting again the boot image from the original XP CD, tried other versions of isobuster to do the extraction with the same result, my PC and the virtual PCs boot perfectly from the cd and the other try to read the disc, then boot from HD. The April CD boots fine in the other pcs, well, lets try extract the boot image from that cd. Same results. i check the MD5 of both boot images and it matches. What else do you think it is? Bios settings are fine, CD-Rom as 1st boot device.

RVM_Integrator_1.4.3.exe Integration order:
RVM_Integrator_1.4.3.exe
RVMUpdatePack2.1.11.7z
RVMAddonsWGAN_1.7.18.5a.7z
RVMAddonsDX9_1.4.7z
Boooggy WMP11 Slipstreamer .73 All hotfixes, Except KB935957
NR_IE7en_Addon_1.0.6_alt.7z

Add files to Magic ISO 5.3 B229
Delete Win9x Migration and Win9x update folders, leaving WinNT folder
Create an Update folder Inside Valueadd for .NET AIO and registry tweaks in run manually after install.

Add the boot image, Set Expert Settings, with no Emulation, Load Segment 07C0 and sector count as 4. ISO and Joliet file systems (Iso Level 2) and Use ISO9660 text for Joliet. And save the image.

Test with Virtual PC, works fine, Burn CD, Test Again, Works, fine. Format my PC, everything fine, then no other pc wants to boot from the same cd, except mine. i have been doing the same process since November and since may it's been a headache for me. Thanks for reading my post and for helping me with my corrupted driver.cab problem last time.

Question for you Broly... have you tried just using the Integrator to make the iso? it HAS the boot sector needed already in the program, and can let you do the same things as you mentioned before IE removing folders and making folders of your own..

steps would be to integrate what you want -> remove folders from newly made cd-structure -> add folders/files you want in said structure -> then go back into the integrator and goto the make ISO tab.. follow instructions there and then burn/test the resulting ISO..

should work for you as well/better than what you are trying now!

good luck

What do i need to do? Create the actual update folder in the destination folder, add the files there and the integrator will take everything from there to the image? I have a question, how much time does the integrator need to do the image? I tried one time and the image got stuck in 150mb for like 10 minutes and i stopped it and used magic iso. It worked since november. I'll give the integrator another shot.

I tried making the ISO with the integrator and guess what, it works perfectly. It is really strange what MagicISO is doing now after 6 months of working perfectly. I extracted the boot image from various XP CDs, so that cant be the problem. But anyway, the integrator works. Thanks for your help again. Always there when needed...

Newbie Question over New Addon Pack

Post by mearmortal » Wed Jun 27, 2007 3:28 pm

This Post is for Ryan, can you explain something for me please.
Iam a little puzzled by the end result, I've spent some time using both the intergrator and Nlite, and I've worked out the differences between SVCPACK and RunOnce, successfully installed the addons for IE7, WMP11, WLM, Your Addon 2.1.11 much appreciated by the way.,Firefox, Abobe 8.1, Java 6.0 Update 1.
The thing I notice is as soon as everything is loaded for the first time, waiting of course for Firefox to finish, was that automatic updates immediately wanted to install KB933566 cumulative update for IE7.
Does that mean I have to integrate the IE7 before the Service Pack, which I can't really do in the right order if I use your pack.
And I believe that if I integrate IE7 before its supposed to be, I will get anoying "file newer than one updating with, do you want to keep existing file" Nag.

Sorry for the long question. Any Assistance would be greatfully received.

The question was not for me but as i'm building ie7 addons i wanted to ask, how did you integrate ie7? Did you download the exe from microsoft and then integrate it via nlite, or used somebody elses addon, or one of my addons? If you integrated the exe via nlite, its normal that your computer wants to update your windows with latest cumulative fixes, that is KB933566 for ie7.

IE7 needs to be integrated after the Update Pack, as has been said many times over in the past. Obviously, that means any updates for IE7 also need to be added after IE7 is integrated. The only "IE7" updates included in the pack are updates to generic files which support IE in Windows but aren't IE-specific files.

IE7/WMP11 should be in the main pack imo, if people don't want them for whatever reason then they should use older version.

Or at least just IE7, that is something I consider very 'core', concerning security.

But your opinion doesn't matter. It's Microsoft's opinion that does, and their current stance is that IE7 is a core part of Vista and IE6 is a core part of XP, which is why it is unclear if they even intend to make IE7 a part of SP3 and why IE7 updates aren't listed as XP updates in the update catalog. Until they commit to supporting IE7 as a "core" part of XP, all attempts at integrating IE7 are a hackish job, which I think is probably the single biggest reason why Ryan has kept it out.

Yes, that is the biggest reason. I mean, look at the fuss people have made over the plugin.ocx error in setuperr.log. Imagine what they'd do over the errors that an IE7 integration would bring with it

Merci beaucoup Ryan for all you're hard work. Thank you very much :P

And i agree IE7 / WMP11 are not part of XP for the momment! The only thing that you'll can hope is a sp3 with them.
Me i love the fact that IE7/WMP11 are provided by addons = freedom of the choice.

The question of the day : when MS release SP3, you'll continu to maintain post-sp2 updatepack or you'll switch to post-sp3 only? (because i'm sure that when SP3 come out some people whant to keep SP2, exactly like when SP2 come out.)

Thanks Ryan for the explaination over the positioning of the details. Thanks for putting your update file together.

MrNxDmX : Yes I must thank you for that Addon pack of yours seems to integrate without any problems, run the whole thing through VMware to test and appart from the update, everything seems to be working fine. I did use nlite initially, but I think I got to grips with Ryan's program after and had a play with that too.

I think the biggest thing in all these addons & seamless installers is knowing which is which.
With Ryans program it doesn't decide for you, you have to make that choice yourself, I havn't found many addons that indicate which option to use (specifically) and you have to sift through many posts to work it out, maybe something can be done about that.

All I have to do now is to integrate .net, but with the aio thats on offer even that is not that easy. I'm going to Opt for 1.1 Sp1 & 3.0 seemless installers on the tracker page. with Ryan's program should get it installed without any problems.

Thanks everyone you've been a great help.

in my case, I check the build number which keep increasing with every hotfix, you can check that by going to any windows > About or
run > winver

@Ryan
I'm running 2.1.2 at the moment
when I ran qfecheck, 2 hotfixes showed (This hotfix should be reinstalled) is that normal? KB908536 , KB917953

Please help me "Ryan".

When i integrate your update 2.1.11 and add some more drivers using nlite or integrator. I found my driver.cab is only approx. 45MB where as if i do not integrate 2.1.11 but add new drivers and other addons, the driver.cab is nearly 74MB.

In first situation 45Mb. When i tried to install i faced so many files from driver.cab can not be copied. :(

But in second phase (74MB). This error isn't present any more.

So, some thing is wrong with your update or some thing wrong with me my integrator or other?

When i integrate your update 2.1.11 and add some more drivers using nlite or integrator. I found my driver.cab is only approx. 45MB where as if i do not integrate 2.1.11 but add new drivers and other addons, the driver.cab is nearly 74MB.

In first situation 45Mb. When i tried to install i faced so many files from driver.cab can not be copied. :(

But in second phase (74MB). This error isn't present any more.

So, some thing is wrong with your update or some thing wrong with me my integrator or other?
Read the FAQ, especially the section on nLite.

Well, the changelog is pretty short, so you shouldn't have much of a problem sorting through what could be to blame.

RyanVM,

I m unable to .msc (services.msc & gpedit.msc) when i use upr v2.1.11 update pack on my unattended. It Show following error
Image

I found that these is due to mmc.exe and it's supported file. When i update i found these files are replaced by new version, so i have doubt that , these files which is in your update pack have some problem.

Is that?

or due to other cause ...

first i thought that , this is due to Nr'sIE71.05a..
Because, in same time when i tried to open Internet option of IE7 integrated. I faced following error
