It'll probably work, but I stopped maintaining the WMP10 pack a long time ago and have no intentions of updating it in the future.

i wonder why i've done wrong...
Update for Windows XP (KB935448)
Download size: 702 KB , less than 1 minute
Install this update to resolve an issue where certain third-party applications may not start, and you receive an error message: "Illegal System DLL Relocation" after you install security update KB925902 (MS07-017). After you install this item, you may have to restart your computer. Details...
Don't show this update again

the above update apprear in windwos update but i have check the hhctrl.ocx is the latest version 5.2.3790.2847

everything looks fine... using vmware doesn't show this ... but real machine show up...

But are the hotfixes included for wmp9 or wmp10?
I've seen they are 10.x.x.x and not 9.x.x.x (kb923689-v2 and kb941569)

Integrator:
RVM_Integrator_1.5RC7c (ticked "Optimize System Files")

Update Pack:
RVMUpdatePack2.2.1RC1

Addons:
5er_MSSignedThemes_v2.2_Addon
Boooggy_WMP11_Addon (from June 2007)
DirectX9.0cNovember2007AddOn0.3.4CNC

Installed in VMware. It all runs fine - no problems at all - time zone is perfect.

Edit - added the following note about using VMware for testing:
When I first installed it in VMware, I got a time zone issue. I am in London and the Time Zone option in XP said GMT London. When automatically synchronize time was ticked, the clock went to -4 1/2 hours which is the correct time for Caracas. I then set my Time Zone to Kabul and the time changed to the correct time in London.
After a bit of experimentation I discovered the following cause:
The Host computer that VMware is installed in has the Kabul Time Zone issue. This then caused a reversal of the time zone hours so I ended up 4 1/2 hours behind.
The corrupt host time zone had counter-corrupted the guest time zone.

I have now installed it into VMware on a good XP host system and there are no time zone issues at all.

Did you read everything?
Install this update to resolve an issue where the Realtek HD Audio Control Panel may not start after you install security update KB925902 (MS07-017) and security update KB928843 (MS07-008).
Program Version Manufacturer
Realtek HD Audio Control Panel 1.41, 1.45, 1.49, 1.57 Realtek Semiconductor Corporation
ElsterFormular 2006, 2007 Elster
TUGZip 3.4 Christian Kindahl
CD-Tag 2.27 Claremont Software
Suunto Ski Manager 1.0.2, 1.1, 1.2 Suunto
BMC PATROL 7.1 BMC Software, Inc

Probably Windows Update detect something of this in your Real Machine, and that does not exist in Virtual Machine.

Cheers ;)

Like cyberloner wrote I am getting Update for Windows XP (KB935448) on systems with Realtek HDA hardware. I've never gotten it before, what triggered it this time?

Besides that (driver related issue) all is well. I'm finally back in central timezone!

No issues on my end. RVMI 1.5RC7c using RVMUpdatePack 2.2.1RC1 plus bucketloads of addons. No timezone issues.
Only items in MU are WGA and .NET stuff.
Excellent work Ryan!

Also works perfectly for me, integrated with nLite 1.4.1 and about a dozen addons, no timezone issues.

Great work. 8)

Another vote for it working.

Got 2 live systems running it now.

You may be imitated, but no one comes close to your quality.

Sorry, I tried to search but found alot of irelevant results for this question... I notice that v5.6 is in the files but I didn't see any references on the Changelog </antiflame>

What about WScript v5.7? Why is this not included?

My integration went flawless with 28 addons (IE7 & WMP included) in one step.
Also, I vote for WMP9-10 hotfixes be left out of the update pack. Then just list WMP updates that would normally appear in a successful integration/install. Thus, theoretically a little less work for Ryan.

My guess would be that it can cause serious problems with older scripts, as RogueSpear points out:
RogueSpear wrote:...are you integrating WSH 5.7 into your install source? I've had so many problems with that screwing up scripts that I finally ditched it.
And I suspect that Ryan is now including WMP9 fixes because he has no intention of maintaining his WMP10 addon, and does not want to reinvent the smoothly rolling wheel of boooggy's WMP11 slipstreamer.

Can't give you a full answer, but I recall that way back there was an issue when integrating WScript v5.7. NM, 5eraph beat me to it. :D

Ryan: everything tested fine with RC1 and nLite v1.4.1. Thanks, again.

Interestingly enough, WScript 5.7 is included with XPSP3 and I haven't heard of anybody having problems with it in that environment.

Mister Ryan, I understand the betas had bugs here and there, I was with them. In the past, you didn't release that many betas or any beta at all. Now that the Kabul bug is gone, and most obvious issues that were in betas are also gone.. What are you planning for the final release? (Curious) What's to be expected in the final as compared to the current RC?

It's strange,I ran those fixes but only 9.x files were installed.

Wscript 5.7 had problems with the .cat and probably there isn't this issue in sp3.

Ryan - Still Testing

Post by sb1 » Wed Feb 27, 2008 2:52 am

Ryan still trying to test for you. Ran into problem with nLite 1.4.1.0 and an addon I added, since it seems everyone else's seems to be going good.
---
Never got any of this before over the years (from notes):
On startup during that Personalized settings for WMP11 an Advanced INF Install popup came up.
Then rundll32.exe - Unable to Locate Component framedyn.dll was not found. I used my nLite .ini I carried over from last one I succesfully did in Jan. '08.
Gonna have to track down the addon that is causing problems. Searching...... Could be an addon made with .NET apparently, hhmmm. Only added a few new ones, now on 3rd major try.

Another little thing.
MU requests for kb935448 but in the UP is present the newer KB940350-v2. Probably because reg entries aren't added in the .inf?

As the FAQ on my site nicely points out (wink wink), framedyn errors are pretty much always the result of a bad integration.
kontini wrote:Another little thing.
Those entries should be created when the ocx file is registered during Windows setup. Understand that I test for whether or not a registry entry is necessary by doing an install with the Update Pack included and then install the hotfix again tracking changes with InCtrl5. If it comes up clean, that means I got all the necessary registry entries.

As I understand from pic u gave, u are installing KB917021-v3, which is obsoleted by KB923154. And rc1 contains that newer fix.
Try to remove that, too.

Ryan Got it going

Post by sb1 » Thu Feb 28, 2008 12:27 am

Just got done testing 2 slightly different ones with nLite 1.4.1 and slightly less addons on each (No WMP11 or DriverPacks integrated yet).

Created both on different PC's. Then fully installed to another 2 different PC's (full installs, no VMware) and they are both fully working, no time zone issues at all. Now I got it narrowed down to just a couple of addons, was 99% it wasn't your Update pack, but you never know (well, unless you do a lot of reading :?: ).

In case it helps anyone this is a snippet from my notes for both of those installs (hope don't mind Ryan):

http://i67.photobucket.com/albums/h307/ ... _02-27.jpg

Thanks, looks good to me

I get an error of update pack is not supported archive.

Using xp pro sp2 image. Using output to different directory. Selecting update pack that was downloaded via the bittorrent link. Hash seems ok on that archive.

First try errors on not finding entries.ini.

Advanced debug shows the error happens when 7zip tries to extract the update pack. The error of 'not supported archive' is displayed. At the 'shifting stuff around' routine, a message box displays the error of no entries.ini found, and exits. The log just shows 'shifting stuff around' as last entry.

I also tried to put the update pack in a root in case of spaces in path names, and same error. I tried using 7z and winrar to unzip the update pack, but they both returned file type not supported.

Downloading again, with different engine. Bitcomet used first time, and it was happy that the hash matched. Don't know.

Am I missing a step somehwere?

MrWoo

EDIT: using the latest rc integrator as well.

EDIT: FYI, using bitcomet with the torrent, produces an 'acceptable' update pack, but it is somehow corrupt. This is repeated twice.

Using the built in torrent client in Opera from same torrent, produces a file that is 2mb larger, and does work. So far anyway..

VMWARE ONLY: Got a strange 'Found New Hardware - Battery' message in my task bar next to the time. Also had a pop-up box that says 'Device installer error - Windows could not load the installer for Battery. Contact your hardware vendor for assistance.' I get these messages everytime I boot the OS.

Exact order of slipstreaming:
1) Slipstreamed SP2 directly from Microsoft into XP Home using original store bought CD.

2) Using RVM Integrator 1.5RC7c (Optimize System Files checked) the following were slipstreamed in:
-RVM Update Pack 2.2.1 RC1
-Nico's DirectX 9.0c November 2007 Addon 0.3.4 CNC
-Xable Microsoft Update Engine - v1.1 Addon
-Xable WGAV - v1.2 Addon

3) Slipstreamed WMP11 using Boooggy's slipstreamer.

4) Using RVM Integrator 1.5RC7c (Optimize System Files checked) the following were slipstreamed in:
-OnePiece IE7 AddOn 2.0.3 ENU

5) Using DriverPacks Base 7.05.2 the following were slipstreamed in:
-DP_Chipset_wnt5_x86-32_7101.7z
-DP_Graphics_A_wnt5_x86-32_80218_nightly.7z
-DP_LAN_wnt5_x86-32_8021.7z
-DP_Sound_A_wnt5_x86-32_8021.7z

Everything tested using VMware 1.04 build 56528 on a Dell desktop computer. The time zone is correct (NO Kabul). Microsoft Update has no critical or high priority updates/downloads. Everything works perfectly except for the error I'm getting at the begining of this post. I haven't installed it on an actual computer yet but would like to know what this error is.

Offtopic probably:

But there's a new RVM Integrator 1.5.1

Anyway, according from the nLite forum. The Kabul timezone issue is somehow related to KB933360

Don't know how you fix this guys. I'll be checking out 2.2.1RC on a real machine later and I'll be back screaming if there are errors.

TY!

Thank you all for testing RC1. I'm quite certain that 2.2.1 is ready to go as a final release.

So, here's the plan for release:
  1. Like I said in the first post, if the RC worked well, it was going to be the final release. Therefore, what you guys have as RC1 is exactly what will be released as the final 2.2.1. Literally, all I'm going to do is remove the RC1 from the filename. So, for those of you who already have the RC build, you have the final release.
  2. This is probably the biggest release I've had in a long time, so I fully expect the crunch on my site to be intense. For that reason, I'm going to be getting some mirrors with different hosts lined up in advance so that hopefully we don't end up with the dreaded Service Unavailable error messages. Lord knows that's the last thing I need popping up when this goes final.
  3. I hope to have this set to go for this weekend, hopefully by Sunday afternoon at the latest (I'll be shooting for Saturday, though). I've got plans for Friday and Saturday night already, so I'm not going to be around to babysit the site in the event of a catastrophe.
I hope this clears up any questions. Thanks again for testing things!

Post by gabo » Fri Feb 29, 2008 1:09 am

Ryan, just out of curiosity.... Of all the packs you have done over all this time Is this the hardest/most difficult update pack you have done?

Oh thank god! I switched from RVM_Integrator_1.5RC5 + RVMUpdatePack2.2.1b4.7z to using RVM_Integrator_1.5RC7c.exe + RVMUpdatePack2.2.1RC1.7z which caused Nero (micro version) to get the following error:

Code: Select all

C:\Program Files\Common Files\Nero\Lib\NeroVMRModules.dll

Unable to register the DLL/OCX: RegSvr32 failed with exit code 0x3.
Switching to RVM Integrator 1.5.1 fixed this problem.

Thank you to alerting me to the new version :)

You don't need that.
Microsoft Update Engine is already included in RVM UP 2.2.1
And so is Adobe Flash Player 9.0.115

Before reporting errors, use the latest RVM Integrator.

project51 - Thanks for the info! I guess I was in a hurry and didn't bother to read Ryan's info file for the latest service pack. I'm going to update to RVM Integrator 1.5.1 and create a new build today. I'll be sure to post an update after testing. Thanks again!

Do you have a battery backup attached to your desktop computer, with a data cable attached to a USB or serial port?

I've been testing RC1 and the Integrator RC7c.

All is great with 2 different builds. I thank you all for your hard work and time you have put into this. If I wasn't living paycheck to paycheck I would so donate to both of you (ryan and sig). Keep up the great work, you guys are awesome!

So far so good...
Integrated with With XP Pro SP2c with a nice feature - NO NEED TO ENTER THE PRODUCT KEY on installation, a feature promissed for SP3.

The only small drawback I've found was the need of reinserting the installation CD after installing a LIP (Language Interface Pack), which for some strange reason was allowed to replace a few system files with older versions.

Big thanks Ryan! :D

I wouldn't call it the most difficult, but certainly the most time-consuming, right up there with the one I did after getting back from my honeymoon a few years ago (version 1.3.0). When taking a long break, it's really hard to get things back to what they once were, even if the core methodology hasn't really changed. And of course, the Kabul bug was more than just a little annoying :P

I'm sensing a need to use that BAN button! [Just kidding! {well, as long as fortunato was joking, I was too}]

It may have taken a while, but we appreciate it RyanVM!

I mean it took a long long time from 2.1 to 2.2 !
You become a lazy boy, Ryan. I'm sorry, but that's true. You've never been same before. What happens ?
There was an unforgettable time you used to build a new pack every single month, I remember... Where that smart boy has gone ?
Now things have changed...
OK. I was so angry and sick of expecting a new pack to be realised and yesterday I decided to use your RC as final on both PC's of mine because my patience had expired after all.
Well, now I'm very proud to report that both installations were perfect, smooth and without errors or issues at all.
What can I say ? You've always been an excellent stuff-maker and still remain the same, Ryan. I appreciate that...
Congrats !
God bless you !
