Hotfix Hunt for Windows XP SP2
why still missing KB886903(MS05-004)?hp38guser wrote:I have updated first post with the .Net updates. However some fixes have lower build numbers??? I didn't include those yet. The catalog of .Net fixes seems like a mess to me.
keytotime, do you have also KB884861 on your hdd?
BTW, the .NET updates are for the switchless installer. I don't think I should have started a new topic for those updates.
Did you miss the other thread awhile back about the user trying to use it with MCE2005? I'm not supporting more offshoot OSes and any problems they might bring with it. You're welcome to put it in your Dutch version if you want, but I'm not putting it in mine. I'm sticking with XP Home and XP Pro only.hp38guser wrote:Why not? There are some users out there using a Tablet PC
I believe KB891566 and KB884047 hotfixes are for Windows 2000. They don't include sp2qfe folder and file versions are far earlier than 5.1.2600

Has there been any patches related to tv tuners on the site? I can't seem to find anything when I do my searches, but I have an HDTV card that is having a lot of problems didn't know if it was due to the card itself or Winblows ...er I mean Windows.

Luckely kbAlertz seems to work finally:
KB893069 - Windows Media Player may buffer for several minutes when a client seeks in multiple bit rate content that is streamed from a Windows Media Service 9 Series server
Finally big issue solved
I had this behaviour always with some Dutch streaming website: http://www.uitzendinggemist.nl

Just so you guys know, I am planning on making a version of the INF available with no WMP9 updates mentioned in it available for download. That should make the lives of the WMP10 integrators a bit easier.

Finals are over for me after tonight. I hope to get a large amount of work done on it over the next few days & weekend, so hopefully there'll be something to play with next week. I'm also going to be started a 6 month internship next week that'll force me to *gasp* work regular 8-5 hours (or something similar to that), so the good news is that I'll have nights/weekends to work on it without the distraction of school work. On the other hand, I won't be able to dedicate 8 hours a day to it either

Oh sorry. I ment that users should take it easy with your pack. Using Windows XP is to serve you to do the things you want your computer to do. Patching is only to keep it in shape.
Some users want their system to get as up2date as possible. They tell about doing a format all day to get their system smooth. Don't listen to them. Your current pack patches all known security holes of xp. So take your time to complete the pack.
BTW. The link in the title of first post is updated by Microsoft

To be honest, I'm not completely certain right now. Don't forget that I'll be adding Windows Installer 3.1 RC1, which will postdate at least two hotfixes currently in 1.2.

Updated startpost with some more hotfixes. KB892049 is superseeded, however some registry entries can be made to fix some bugs.
Ok an update is needed.
Only two new ones I got are KB894179 and KB891117. Dont know if they superseed any others. Been lazy last two weeks. lol
So atm that is a total of 108 hot fixes. Sure ryan has more by now. Would like to know if possible and if they supperseed any hot fixes. Looking to update my pack as well at my web site.
So any help on this would be great. Seeing as stupid kbalerts has been sucking as of late. Was not even told about KB894179 and KB891117. Luckly another member at msfn told me about them.
Thanks,
Will

I could I suppose. But meh, I'm saving my next major version bump for the future when I get a chance to implement some other things that are on the back burner currently.

I think build 1823 of Windows Installer 3.1 is the final build for non-2K3 OSes, given that it has a KB number attached to it (893803) and that the registry entry for it says "Windows Installer 3.1", when the RC build clearly said RC in the registry and had no KB number.

OK, thanks for letting me know.
And yeah, Ron's sent me a few other KB numbers which don't have articles at the moment. Kind of annoying.
