Post by mercyground » Tue May 27, 2008 1:59 pm

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/KB898461

apparently released july 05. Now appears to be mandatory? It just got pushed to my new SP3 build.

Wierd how an update this old is showing up now. Would have expected this to have been included in SP3.

but then again... mof files in sp3... MS sterling efforts again i guess.

Now considering i only installed IE7 and WMP11 yesterday, have i missed something or is MS being crap again and i'm getting patches that WMP and IE should have got?

Also got KB898461 (Package Installer for Windows version 6.1.22.4) pushed on my SP3 install today.

Plus KB942763: December 2007 cumulative time zone update for Microsoft Windows operating systems

When I then surfed to the Update site there were root certificates available for download as well.

I also have KB898461 on Automatic Updates, but not KB942763. Haven't checked WU/MU yet for root certificates.

Edit: KB942763 showed up on AU and MU after I let AU install KB898461. Root Certificates are also on MU.

hello, I, too receive the same KBs.

Is this all SP3s or just slipstreamed ones?

Mine includes redxii's SP3 addon Pack, IE7 and KB947864.

I can confirm with the MSDN fully integrated XP VL ISO /w SP3 that it also prompts for KB898461 on a naked install. It is bundled with WGA KB892130 as a prerequisite install to access WU/MU

Should be any SP3, whether slipstreamed or installed as long as you didn't already have that hotfix.

My personal experience is with one XP Home OEM installation that I slipstreamed to SP3 myself. I haven't gone into my dual boot of MSDN pre-slipstreamed XP yet to check it.
