For UpdatePack/AddOn Builders, Latest MU Files

Post by MrNxDmX » Thu Dec 04, 2008 7:40 pm

After hours of searching i finally found them. I wont make an explanation as all of you may know what do these do. Files are version 7.2.6001.788.

First this is the latest WU installer:
http://download.windowsupdate.com/Windo ... 30-x86.exe

Muweb.dll file:
http://update.microsoft.com/microsoftup ... b_site.cab

mucltui.dll file:
http://download.windowsupdate.com/v8/mi ... ucltui.cab

Getting mucltui.dll.mui file in your language:
http://download.windowsupdate.com/v8/mi ... x86/Other/XX/mucltui.mui.cab

Change XX to your language, which can be one of following:
ar
cs
da
de
el
en
es
fi
fr
he
hu
it
he
ja
ko
nl
no
no
no
pl
pt
ptBR
ru
sv
tr
zhTW
zhCN
zhCN
Your link should look like this:
http://download.windowsupdate.com/v8/mi ... x86/Other/EN/mucltui.mui.cab

Ricktendo64 reported this as working too:
http://download.windowsupdate.com/v8/mi ... tui_XX.cab
Change XX to your lang.

The rest of the files can be found in the installer file.
Hope this will help you.
Cheers :)

Funny you mention that yume, because these two files did not match using MD5 check (they were created 1 second apart)

Newer: http://update.microsoft.com/microsoftup ... b_site.cab

and

Older: http://download.windowsupdate.com/v8/mi ... /muweb.cab

Wonder if this means everything in "/b" is beta?

Beta? Hmm, MU forced them on me this morning.

When I went there this morning, instead of the usual express or custom buttons, i had one button - "Install".

When I clicked the install button, new .788 version muweb.dll, the wu files, and cdm.dll were installed.

I don't know about beta status. All I know is that mucltui.*, muweb.dll and wmuweb.dll self-updated once I turned on Automatic Updates. This is how I typically check for updates of those files. This is also how I obtain those files for my pack.

well, the link for previous version begin with: http://download.windowsupdate.com/v8/microsoftupdate/a
and even previous one begin with: http://download.windowsupdate.com/v7/microsoftupdate/a

now we don't have a clear definition for this.... since we could see from the link: v8. but when we go to WU/MU site, we could see it clearly that is v6, just as the link rick provided us above.

-------------BTW------------
just went MU site in a vm, it asks me to confirm install MU ActiveX Control, while i have version 784 installed.
after updating WU files are just 788.... but mucltui.dll stills 784 while muweb.dll is 788....
WTF?
muweb.dll has a timestamp of 14:07(GMT+8 here), same as http://update.microsoft.com/microsoftup ... b_site.cab ....

mucltui.dll and mui have not been being updated automatically for quite awhile now, one has to hunt them down

I have AU set to notify before dl, do you mean "automatically download" setting 5eraph?

If Automatic Updates is anything other than "Off", it silently checks for updates for itself and installs them. So 7.2.6001.788 will install without you knowing (but will certainly be in WindowsUpdate.log).

There was a big uproar about this. Also it was being incorrectly claimed that when set to Off it still installs the updates silently; that part is not true. I don't have AU enabled, so I checked now at the Microsoft Update website and there was an update to the 7.2.6001.788 files including muweb.dll.

No, rick. Any setting other than "Turn off Automatic Updates" is on. You could try turning AU off, then back on. Mine is always off unless I'm checking for updates to the MU files.

EDIT: redxii beat me to it. And he's right about the uproar it caused.

mucltui.dll and mucltui.dll.mui both updated to r788 for me when I activated AU. Maybe x64 is different. I can't speak for redxii.

mucltui.dll and mucltui.dll.mui files adds nothing new for me. I dunno why ms has added them :S

Also they normally doesnt get installed via MU web page, i've added them to my up.pack from links i've found.

Yes you guys are right, it autoupdated for me too. But I had to somehow get it to notify me I needed to dl new updates with the systray thingy
I did this by changing the TZVersion to a low number and it downloaded the updated mucltui.dll and mui and notified me I needed to install a update

OH and the files in "/b" are not beta, they match the files that were autoupdated

BTW MrNxDmX this is the difference between mucluti.dll and wucltui.dll (as you can see only the icons are slightly different)

wucltui.dll (bellow)

mucltui.dll (bellow)

Only when you set AU to notify when a update is available, you will get a icon in the systray and when you click it you get this

At work, an update to MU was offered.

At home, I used OnePiece 1.8.1 for a clean install earlier this month and today no update was available; DLL's are already 7.2.6001.788?!
We are one, but we are not the same... Talk to each other!
