More often than not, Ryan seems to work on update packs on the weekend when there's
a hockey game on. I'd say it's unlikely that he'd get the chance during the week. But I don't know for sure.

Hi Ryan,
I'm also curious 2 now if u r waiting till April? I hope not.
Also how does the fact that Microsoft is stopping Mainstream support in April effect the update pack?

Sorry guys, work and Real Life (TM) have been very busy lately. I'll try to get them wrapped up this weekend.
masterm - I'll continue to make packs as long as there are XP updates to be integrated.

I am intrested in tehnique U use to repackage the updates.
As you know they are in some weird format sfx files
that only look normal when the are attempted to be installed/extracted.
If I add them using nlite they just end up in svcpack folder as exe files (not being integrated). and if I extract the file and repackage it, it cannot be integrated to the installation source.

This probably isn't the best thread to be discussing that. That said, you can extract updates using the /x command line switch.

I think it would be wise now to wait until the april updates for version 1.0.4, they're coming in a week... Hopefully the IE8 and office2003 gets patched too by then.

I see your point tamas. However, that means we might only see a pack in 3 weeks times as Ryan is busy and not able to release packs straight after patch Tueday. So if he he can release a pack with patches till March it will be awesome.

I don't know, how difficult would be to add the new updates to the halfway ready package that includes everything until march. Maybe it's simpler than building a completely new pack.

Yes yumeyao you can release an addon for the updatepack.

Just be sure to indicate it is made by you. Don't put Ryan's name on it as the creator. This way Ryan isn't hounded for support for the addon.
But we try to encourage others to help out. We have busy lives so it gets difficult for us to provide updates as often as we used to.
In the past I have released Updated addons for Ryan's UpdatePacks. I remember code releasing Updated Updatepack addons in the past as well.

This would be excellent if you could it seems as Ryan has way to much on his plate for us at this time.
Thanks again to everyone that helps out....

Given that MS is about to push XP into Extended support and only release security fixes, I'd say wait till then. Do a roll up and call it quits there.
Should only be hotpatches from there in.
Add in WMP11, IE8 and bobs your uncle.
(oh mebbe Messenger 8.5 instead of that 2009 monstrosity)

If anyone is interested I have been updating Ryan's pack (QFE branch).
If permission is granted I can post it for others to use as an option while Ryan updates his pack.
