New Microsoft Updates (published after Post-SP3???)

Post by bina » Tue Feb 24, 2009 11:20 am

After installing Ryan's last post-SP3 update pack, I still get updates on MU. You can see the screenshot here.

I use the Integrator v1.5.4b in combination with nLite which deals only with some registry tweaks and Unattended phase. If you look at the pic, you'll see two Windows Media Format updates. I understand this is because I have uninstalled WMP (deleted with nLite) from my XPCD since I use alternative - WinAMP for audios and K-Lite for videos.

I am specifically interested to know about the following updates:
- ActiveX Killbits (kb 960715)
- Cumulative Sec Update for IE7 (kb 961260)
- Windows Security Update for Win XP SP3 (kb 952069)

Is this something new that MS published after Ryan's Post-SP3 release cause I cannot find these updates on Ryan's ChangeLog as well?

I'm not concerned about the others since I know the reasons behind :)

no problem. btw i think microsoft releases updates on the second tuesday of each month. its probably too late to make one just for feburary so my guess is ryan will make one sometime after the second week of march

also here is a list of everything he includes http://www.ryanvm.net/msfn/updatepack-sp3.html

if you want something more "All-in-One" you might want to try Onepiece's http://www.ryanvm.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=6438 which i think includes everything from microsoft update (ie 7, wmp 11, dx9 updates etc)

only use one of them though.

Thanks for headsup!!!

Yeah, I know about MS update schedule. I was just wondering if I'm the only one to receive that annoying "High Priority updates needed for your puter" message :)

But again, thanks a lot for your support. Appreciated!!!
Thanks!

Did they release 3 out-of-band patches yesterday/today?

(One on SilverLight and two on .NET)

No, not "out-of-band". Microsoft schedules updates twice every month: PT and exactly two weeks after PT (no security updates on the 2nd date, though, unless it's an emergency). It's been like this for many years.
My addons: CmdOpen - HashCheck - Notepad2 - MS Runtimes - DirectX

Into the breach, meatbags!

Then I'm learning very slowly...
