How do I create my own updatpack for Win XP like this pack?

LOL, why? Onepiece's pack is a proven thing, updated regularly, and has defined mechanisms in place to modify it slightly to meet individual needs. If that is not sufficient, then user_hidden's pack can be used instead which allows more flexibility in the "extra" pieces you might or might not want included. Why do you want/need to reinvent the pack? If you just want to know the concepts behind it for educational purposes, then you probably have a lot of reading to do, here on this forum, at Wincert, and at MSFN, not to mention documentation at MS. Could you be a little bit clearer as to what you are trying to accomplish, and what your experience level is, so that we can better direct you in an appropriate manner?

OnePiece has a updatepack creator that allows you to do just that http://www.wincert.net/forum/index.php? ... n-creator/
that What I want to do:
I want to create an ISO Disk of Win XP With All the Updates from Microsoft.
This link http://www.ryanvm.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=6438 provide the updates until "April 28 2011", and I want to add all the updates that will come from microsoft!
How do I do it with the software that ricktendo64 gave me?

Well, that was only 5 days ago. I'm not aware of anything earth shattering that has come out since then, lol. Onepiece typically updates his pack about once a month or so, after Patch Tuesday, unless he is tied up, or if something very important comes out, so the easiest thing to do if you like everything he provides is to simply monitor the thread and pick up the latest when he makes it. If you have installed your system using one of his packs and an update or two come out from MS and you just can't wait, there should be no reason that you can't just use MU and keep your system totally up to date if that is what is important to you.
As to the link that Rick provided, from what I remember, there are some instructions there. If they are in Italian, use Google translate. If you need more help, please ask specific questions, otherwise, as I suggested earlier, you are going to have to do a lot of reading.

Nope just make mine more modular without WMP, IE, Netmeeting & Messenger. So I don't really need fixes or patches for this perpetually flawed portion of Windows
IE is the same flawed mess it's been since Win95 just a patched up one. Why would any one still want this????

It's a few DVDs at best so far without Windows media although I haven't stripped out the Obsolete d/l yet ...A definitive list would be helpful start

i have *NEVER* understood the 'thought process' that seems so prevalent around here, the whole "WHY? There are two awesome public packs, why make your own?"...
that's just plain "stupid" in my eye...
WHY?
because there could easily be a day where "these two" drop off the face of the earth, "real life" taking up more time and no longer wishing to devote as much "time" to their 'online life', their "public packs", moving on from Win XP and those of us with XP now wrapped helically around an inclined plane, any reason the two chose to "move on", we can't do anything about that, we simply pick up the pieces and start back from ground zero with the next person willing to (and with the "know-how") 'share' their XP update pack...
there is *NOTHING* wrong with teaching a man "how to fish" !!!...
the question is NOT "why create your own?", the question is "why is there no concise, in one place, documentation on how to create my own?"...
there IS enough info on this forum to create our own, that's not what i'm saying...
but it is ALL OVER THE PLACE, no "concise tutorial" in ONE PLACE...
why is it so prevalent 'here' to reply to those that "ask" with a "why? we already have two awesome update packs"...
nobody is asking to "replace" them, there are questions that come up quite often, "how do i make my own?", it's not for the sake of UPLOADING them and trying to "replace" the two we have, but for the sake of 'feeding that man for life'...
there is *NOTHING* wrong with teaching a man "how to fish"...
if anyone wishes to answer "why?", then answer "why" it seems to be the "wrong" thing to do to ask 'how to create our own?"...

I was asked by Windoos to update the Dutch pack as I have done a few times in the past including the last that was available. unfortunately he has not contacted me back so my help on the project has ended for now.Atari800xl wrote:Well, maybe you're a bit harsh, but I agree with you to some degree. For me, it would be nice to create a Dutch updatepack (still hoping the Dutch updatepack will be, uhm, updated again this year). And besides, I like to learn...
Now as per the thread topic I would love to teach how to build the pack but
I do everything manually with help of some custom tools. I wouldn't have
the time nor patience to show how to do it, however looking at mine or
Onepiece's work one can learn how to do it. After all I taught myself by
looking originally at Ryan's and Xable's work.

you can create one for you if you want, Just follow the EXAMPLE of the pack DEU (German) or SVE (SWEDISH) or JPN (JAPANESE) or CHT (Chinese Traditional) or CHS (Chinese Simplified) http://www.wincert.net/forum/topic/6897 ... r/?p=97433Atari800xl wrote:Well, maybe you're a bit harsh, but I agree with you to some degree. Ciao.
Well, it seems that that moment has finally arrived, and OnePiece has decided to call it a day as this quote from a post on 6th June makes clear:long-lurker wrote:i have *NEVER* understood the 'thought process' that seems so prevalent around here, the whole "WHY? I expect many more people in the forum will now regret that there is not a complete and detailed instructions on how to make update packs.Hi Stormit, I'm really sorry. really for the moment I can not find free time, think or updated for years and years Win2k3 UpdatePack and in the end I could not make Win2k3 UpdatePack final, I mean really for the moment is impossible for me to find free time and focus on certain things
yeah i agree completely now.. we have no update pack for September 2016Zephyr wrote:Well, it seems that that moment has finally arrived, and OnePiece has decided to call it a day as this quote from a post on 6th June makes clear:long-lurker wrote:i have *NEVER* understood the 'thought process' that seems so prevalent around here, the whole "WHY? seems both update pack makers not have much free time lately to make new update packs
The only thing user_hidden would have to update this month is Flash Player. The malicious software removal tool no longer supports XP. If you use the POSReady addon then Flash Player is already updated.

Pardon the ignorance of us few who do not understand. As I myself was unaware that a vanilla version existed until I actually downloaded what I thought I wanted and unraveled the mystery of that which is inside plus the option to not install everything. Since this is never formally explained those of us with different tastes may not appreciate installing stuff they didn't want and then the problem of removing those items.
Also note as of all the time spent perusing through this forum I have yet to come accross a difinitive "MANUAL" explaining any of this from start to finish. There are a plethora of Updated packages created and loads of troubleshooting but no actual guide. In the case of nLite there is only an online version which isn't recent and the similar XP Disc creators which aren't exposed until the are installed. So yes making one's own does satify those otherwise undesirable problems. Sorry for the delay in response as I was busy with more pressing matters than responding to such petty answers..

Re: Create My own updatepack for Win XP
I waited and waited for 5ereph to make the final build of of the XPSP3 QFE POSReady 2009 addon, and I must say I felt let down when it dawned on me that he had abandoned it. As no-one else volunteered to make the final build I decided, with some trepidation, to do it myself, and I must say it was a steep learning curve. I am not the programming type, and this kind of thing does not come naturally to me so I prefer to let other more talented people do the work for me. When I started I did not have a clue about INF files, and to make it more difficult I decided to start the final build from scratch. It took months and months of painful struggle to finish it while documenting my progress every step of the way in the hope that more knowledgeable people could offer advise (which never came). This was one of the most difficult things I have done in my life made more difficult by the lack of an addon builders manual. All I had was the Defining Entries post, and the example of 5ereph's original work. After this baptism of fire I gained the self confidence to make my own addons.
I must say I found the Device and Driver Installation manual by Microsoft most helpful, as was the Complete Advanced INF Guide.
