"fastest" Update Pack

this might seem like an odd question, but are there, or has there been, any "performance tests" for the Update Packs and the monthly releases thereof?

i don't know of what "performance test" benchmark to use, but while i used to be "Hell-bent" on updating *EVERY* month, i no longer do and there have been months where i'm fairly certain that being "patched" actually slowed my PC down, can't prove it though.

ie, what i'm curious of is that if three months ago's Update Pack scored a few points higher on some "performance test" benchmark, i personally wouldn't mind using an "old" Update Pack instead of the "newest".

Then just stick with vanilla SP3.
