XP on modern laptops?

Post by mekineer » Tue Apr 05, 2016 1:59 pm

With all the unofficial updates, and the 4GB+ PAE, and maybe some Sata drivers you guys may have, can you run XP on modern hardware? If not, what is the cutoff architecture?

The problem will most likely be finding drivers for the different HW device components on your system. I assume anything after the x86/x64 architecture will be the cutoff stage for XP. :mrgreen:

It was just a general question, so didn't know I would get requests for my laptop model. The question is answered! I won't plan on putting XP on future laptops, but will keep my current laptop as long as I can! I guess I knew the answer ahead of time. It's just hard to part with XP, like it was hard to part with 98se. It takes a lot of work to tweak your system the way you want it.

I did a double-take when I saw this post...

May I ask in a friendly way what is the point of running such a powerful setup on XP, especially considering that there aren't any chipset drivers for this platform for XP?

@mockingbird
Dude i am using custom kerenals to run few drivers and if you want chipset driver they are not needed as intel chipset drivers mean only a .inf containing few information you can get that one from win7chipset driver for intel but incase of AMD Chipset driver seriously needed.
