hi red pardon for such a noob question. what's the difference of your sp3 update pack with ryans? as i usually uses ryans sp3 update pack and to be honest i don't have any problem when i build my new win sp3 cd. the only problem is that i think ryan did not update his update pack till now so i was thinking to get yours instead just want to know the difference. thanks for your time.

redxii's update pack does not contain non-public hotfixes and some other stuff. Ryan's update pack is now - more or less - maintained by user_hidden, see: http://www.ryanvm.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=7184

This is a bit of a random question but I'm asking as a consequence of using this pack along with integrating IE7 - what is the source of the file "shdocvw.dll"? I know it's in the IE7 installer (IE8 as well) but these installers appear to be static and yet this file keeps being revised with every new instance of this pack so it must be coming from somewhere else and i can't find it in any of the IE cumulative updates - I'm missing something obvious, would someone point in the right direction? Many thx, bfrg

The cumulative update for IE6 does update ShDocVw.dll. I'd suspect the updated file is included in all XPx86 update packs that do not include IE7 or IE8. ;)

Did a fresh install and Windows Updates told me I'm missing:
Update for Windows XP (KB973687)
Update for Windows XP (KB976098)
Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool - November 2009 (KB890830)
Update for Windows XP (KB961118)
it also said I'm missing "Security Update for Windows XP (KB969947)" too but it's listed on redxii's Windows XP Post-SP3 Update Pack page. Weird..

KB973687 and KB976098-v2 were released to the Microsoft Update website 13 hours ago—redxii must still be working on 11.09-02 because it is not available for download here or on his site yet. KB961118 was removed because the update should only be installed after .NET 3.0 has been installed.

KB890830 v3.1 and KB969947 should be included.

If you still use tzchange.exe (like me) and having trouble with the switches you can dl mine & compare your switches with mine

The way I verify that my switches were done correctly is I edit/lower the TZVersion manually and reinstall the hotfix over my install and see if anything changes

added KB973687 replaced KB955069 & KB960380

a question about KB976098 (and other hotlfixes like it). how do you figure out the list of tzchange.exe command strings to execute at [T13.UpdateTimeZones.RunCommand]? is this information captured somewhere when you install the hotfix? thx, bfrg

Any reason both files have been removed?

EDIT: Found the correct links on your website. You might wanna update the first post. :)

After slipstreaming this update pack
[Updated] XP SP3 Update Pack 12.09-02
, I have been facing the explorer shut down problem. It is always said that explorer.exe encountered a problem and needs to be closed. I think this is a unmatched file version problem. Please make me out from this.
Just want to say......
Thanks a lot...

Patch Tuesday falls on the second Tuesday of every month (that's the 12th of this month). It's safe to say you can expect an update sometime after 18:00 UTC that day, when Microsoft releases this month's high priority updates.

Best of luck in the Army Redxii - I hope you enjoy it and get the best out of it. Have you joined any specific Regiment or Corps?

you chose how you'll die. probably a good choice. I went to the army a few month ago but im lacking courage to do that. 27 is also a little bit old to enter the army. prefer wainting to find a job that is suiting my living standard.
