KB956572 shows "current on system" with qfecheck.
perhaps it is one of your addons in integration that is causing your error.
the hotfix in the update pack is fine.

I think you're right ... my VM tests show that it's not needed but my real world tests are bringing it up. I will try to work out which one of my other addons is causing it and i will report back.

my 2 cents regarding adding WMP11 and IE8 to this update pack: the addons by yumeyao for IE8 and WMP11 work perfectly so there is no need at all for user_hidden to include them.

I agree, keep IE8/WMP separate addons. Although, even M$ is advising users to ditch IE6/7 like a bad habit.

Let me make myself clear concerning IE8 and WMP11 integration:

1. I am very grateful to user_hiden for providing and maintaining XPSP3_QFE_UpdatePack.
For my means and purposes it is optimal and I have already installed it nearly hundred times.

2. I am pretty sure that MS will include IE8 and WMP11 in XP SP4.

3. Why not have it before MS, if it’s not too much work for maintaining of update pack?

If your suspicions prove correct, and IE8 and WMP11 ARE included in XP SP4, it'll be be just one more reason to keep the status quo and move forward with SP3 and trusted update packs.

At this time, Microsoft does not plan to release any further service packs for Windows XP. Microsoft has repeatedly tried to end the availability of XP; the most recently announced end date I can find is April 2011, or when a Win7 service pack is released, whichever is sooner.

I'm with user_hidden: Keep IE8 and WMP11 out of the pack and allow the users their choice of versions and integration methods. This is the philosophy I follow in my own pack.

at this time i will not add wmp11, ie8, dx9, silverlight, etc.....
you can use stand alone addons for each of those which are readily available on the forums.

i find it better when you add what YOU want to the integration.

I also SECOND this sensible approach, and do not want any change in your current strategy....
Having flexibility, along with reliability on the base-UpdatePack is the KEY.
( Flexibilty in selecting any addon + the best among multiple choices )

Adric, How long have u been using the massstorage addons, & how reliable are they in this rvm-integrator mode?
Also once u boot with such a disk on a sata system MB, which sata drivers it will install : IDE or AHCI?

The problem I originally had, had to do with AHCI being enabled in my BIOS. I kept getting a bluescreen when I tried to install XP from CD. When I disabled AHCI to use SATA compatibility mode which I assume treats the drive as IDE, I was able to install without adding any drivers. I had the same problem with my BART-XPE recovery boot cd. It would always crash with a 0x0000007b BSOD if AHCI was enabled, until I added the Intel Matrix Storage Manager Floppy drivers at:

Once this worked on the BART-XPE boot CD, I went looking for a solution to use with RVMi which ended up being the Roguespear addons.

Thanks for ur input. I am aware of all these things.
But my question to you, was to get an idea on the reliability of this RVMi method, to integrate iastor-masstorage addons, so that booting & install of Windows-XP goes ahead successfully on SATA systems with AHCI-mode enabled in BIOS.

By reliability what I meant is whether this is compatible (no error) in different mother-boards /different configurations, both hardware & selection of software/addons. Obviously you yourselves would not be able to test on all possible configurations. But since you already havebeen doing it, I thought you have done some research & read about others experiences in various forums (possibly including Roguespears) etc etc. Just share ur experiences,
how long u being using it, Are there any negative side-effects to including this addon etc etc.

Sorry, I can't help you there. I had this problem on a new laptop. The drivers solved that problem for me and allowed me to leave AHCI enabled without it crashing when trying to install from CD or HD. I would expect the Intel mass storage drivers to be as reliable as one can expect from a manufacturer such as Intel.

My research ended up with two choices:

1. enable compatibility mode with no additional changes
2. add necessary drivers to the install CD/HD and recovery CD

I have noticed no ill effects with these drivers included on my BART-XPE CD when booting from other machines where I helped
friends that were having problems with their PCs

(a) first use RVM integrator to integrate the mass-storage drivers (RogueSpear addons) on Windows-XP-SP3, to create Windows-XP-SP3-Updated (Integrated) source (CD or image), & then
(b) Run Bart PE utility on this integrated source to create a BartPE Boot CD ?

I am curious to know how u achieved this? First I thought BartPE requires an unmodified source, & that too Win-XP-SP2!

Also by "ill-effects", i did not mean basic reliability of intels-drivers. But effect of integration of two Roguespear addons, which critically impacts on the text-mode setup phase, and its possible interaction with other addons.

No, for BartPE, I used the F6 floppy drivers. For the RVMi install CD I used the RogueSpear Addons.

KB969084 - Remote Desktop Connection 7.0 client update for Remote Desktop Services (RDS) for Windows XP SP3

On XP Pro SP3 with integrated MCE I get the following errors using 1.1.8.
KB955759 gets reported in WU/MU as a needed critical update.
KB969084 gets reported in qfecheck as "This hotfix should be reinstalled".

Well, I am not sure if it is a replacement however 979 is newer and it was detected by MU. we will wait for the fix that removes the innocent but ghost .cat file and also include kb979099 over or instead of kb917275, although they might by called the same only differ by the version..might address to different things, MS says nothing or I cannot read it

yet to be installed since XP does not support the networking hardware out of the box. I don't see the cat in the svcpack dir that I use to build

About the post sp3 pack I've tested it, runs fine here MU only says i lack 2 high priority upds:

I think it is garbage if did not appear firstly

I've been having this odd issue where if I integrate this pack (using RVMi 1.6) on clean XP Pro SP3 and XP Home SP3 sources and then make a multiboot disc using XP PowerPacker, this one update (KB955759) shows up when I run Microsoft Update. If I tell MU to install it, nothing seems to change; the update remains listed when I run MU again.

Weirder is that this issue does not present itself when I don't make a multiboot disc (i.e. just burn the slipstreamed XP Pro disc by itself). I'm not using any other update packs or anything. Anyone encounter this?
