XPSP3_QFE_UpdatePack for Windows XP Post-SP3 20180109
When I try Windows Update, I receive following message:
"The product key used to activate Windows on your PC is not authorized for
sale or use in the country or geographic area in which you are currently located.",
for the XPSP3 I use since SP3 release "in the country or geographic area in which
I am currently located".
How to solve this problem?

Just came across this item, which may solve some XP update problems for a LONG time. It is a hack which MSOFT apparently agrees will allow a number of updates to XP. I haven't tried it yet, but thought this forum might have some interest/comments on it.

How do POSReady 2009 Updates relate to trying to add every possible update and hotfix that can be made to install?
The only time you should see something from WU is if MRT has been updated. You should always get a clean visit to WU/MU for XP if it was kept updated up to EOL, unless of course you hacked your system to trigger WU/MU to show POSReady 2009 updates.

ok my take on POSReady updates is as follows:
it is considered a hacked version of XP and therefore may be open to takedown and DMCA by MS.
now that being said I have not made a decision if I will or will not make a "modded" update pack.
I have been very busy lately and have not much time. this has been noticed with my lack
of updates to my dotNet installers. all will be sorted in time ......

Extracting files is not hacking.
And 'ricktendo' already did a dotNET AIO installer (incuding POSReady 2009 updates) so you can dedicate all your time on this UpdatePack.

EDIT:
The entries "[KB2792100]" and "[KB2761465]" can be deleted in the qfeUpPck.inf file they are obsolete.

It would be cool if there were an svcpack addon with only the XP POSReady updates that could be included when integrating with RVMi. I tried DXUPAC, but some of the output had a bunch of stuff that is unrelated to the POSReady updates. Also, no reg entries for the actual fixes, so I left it at that. If I knew how to do the entries.ini and the inf, I would give it a try.user_hidden wrote:ok my take on POSReady updates is as follows:

adric,
You have been updating yumeyao's IE8 addon.
Updating this update pack is pretty much the same thing as what you are doing with IE8.
Start with an easy update, like the recent usp10.dll update.
Search for it in QFEUpdPck.inf. That will land you in the section with the previous update for it. Then replace the entries just like you do for IE8.
Update the add.reg entries at the top of the inf.
Add the new files, add the cat in the svcpack folder, delete the old cat.
Your done. If you search entries.ini, there is no usp10.dll entry, so it doesn't need to be changed.
Some updates may be more involved but once you get the hang of it, it is not difficult.

I might have change the file to the original instead of modded one.
the modded one was used because MU was nagging for a previous version
but that was fixed. an MS snafu.

i'm not adding POSready/WEPOS updates to the pack, I consider it "frankenbuild"phox wrote:http://www.ryanvm.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=10321

if you or any user wants to add the ability to get those updates
installed on the system you can unpack the 7z archive and edit the
qfeuppck.inf
look for the following line
Code: Select all
AddReg =Flash.AddReg,Miscellaneous.AddReg,MSXML.AddReg,MU.AddReg
Code: Select all
AddReg =Flash.AddReg,Miscellaneous.AddReg,MSXML.AddReg,MU.AddReg,POS.AddReg
MU will then prompt you to install the POSready/WEPOS updates

Thanks
Just a note to THANK YOU for this latest update to XP.
I had not built an XP installer since last December, so it was time. So far the testing seems to be successful, and all is well in the XP world.
Best wishes from an appreciative user in Atlanta.

Really looking forward (still) to SP4, good luck, Harkaz!!
Just a stupid joke (that's been done too many times already, I know), but maybe you should call it SP10, or SPX, like Windows 10.
Really funny to have XPSP4 (or SPXP10, or XPSPX) released (almost) on the same day as Windows 10 (Or Windows X).
Maybe XP is better than X

it is a stub file that redirects to the mrt web site.Outbreaker wrote:@user_hidden
What tool do you use to modify the MRT.exe file?
it's not the actual mrt tool. it is written in C. original idea
came from Yumeyao.
if you want to use the file I use you only need to modify
the version info every month. you can do that with any
resource editer. I use Restorator, you can also try ResourceHacker.

post-eol, i assume it is only going to be these two items that are updated every month from here on out...user_hidden wrote:changelog:20141014
updated Microsoft Malicious Software Removal Tool v5.17
updated Adobe Flash Player 15.0.0.189 ActiveX Control
so i'm curious, thinking out loud, is there any advantage to updating the "removal tool" every month? is there a way to remove this from the Update Pack?
also can Flash be removed from the Update Pack?
my thinking being that while i will continue to reinstall XP each and every month, i'm not sure if there really is any "need" to cut into your download bandwidth every month just for these two items and am "thinking out loud" about the possibility of an April Update Pack (last month prior to EOL) with these two items removed and that being my Update Pack from here on out, no need to download something new every month...

to add PostEOL updates to my pack see the following: http://www.ryanvm.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=10479
as for mrt it is a stub file, flash is an important update as it has vulnerabilities.
if you want to save bandwidth you do not have to download but will need those 2 items
after an integration which can be updated manually online. do note last month there was an extra update added for timezone update.
