For Windows XP/MCE/2k3, Last Updated 2009/03/15

  • This addon will replace your Windows Media Player Component in your windows installation CD with its contents.
    このアドオンはその中のコンテントを使ってWindowsインストールCDのWindows Media Playerコンポーネントを更新します。
  • This addon has all the features listed below:
    1. Compatibility with XP/MCE/2k3 in one Addon. for 2k3, M$ does not install skins but this addon does.
    2. Obsolete files are removed. They are either utility to migrate DRM stuffs or a file with several KiloBytes which is used to overwrite the old file.
    3. Addon structure: File Copy and Registry handling are system-like.

Notes:
  • I have tested it with english XP on VM. Things went flawlessly. As i have tested my wmp10 addon on MCE/2k3, i ensure this addon will also work on MCE/2k3. Yet since i don't have a TRUE MCE PC, so i can't make sure there is no MCE related funtional leak in this addon.
    i don't have a certain circumstance/a proper device to test some features like DRM or Device Manager. I hope they work.
  • Integrate this addon on a source without any other people's WMP addon.
  • Known Issues既知の問題:
    • setuperr.log will report several files not registered correctly. They are removed by this Addon by purpose because they are useless and obsolete.
      To fix this issue manually, modifying syssetup.inf is needed OR you can just add them back then unregister them after T-14 when they are registered by syssetup.inf.
      I don't intend to put any fix addon and don't plan to fix it in the future. It's totally harmless.

    This version is named V3.
    V1 is based on Ryan's work, i translated it into Chinese that time.
    V2 is somehow similar to Onepiece's WMP11 Addon. We did the same thing that is modifying the default wmp.inf and associated files rather than Ryan & boooggy's "Install WMP9 then Install WMP10/11" method.(although we achieve file copying via different ways)

    Here is V3. It has several points over V2:
    1. Compatibility with XP/MCE/2k3 in one Addon. MCE Updates included. for 2k3, M$ does not install skins but this addon does.
    2. Windows Media Formats, DRM Management, UWDF and other runtimes are Version 11(ripped from WMP11).
    3. Obsolete files are removed. They are either utility to migrate DRM stuffs or a file with several KiloBytes which is used to overwrite the old file.

    (although i managed to achieve it when i released V2, but my method is kinda "cheating"...)

  • I have tested it with simplified chinese XP/MCE/2k3 and english XP on VM. Things went flawlessly.

  • Since it's a hybrid wmp, Auto Update MAY fail to check its updates in the future. but as far as i can confirm it's ok.

Have you found out a generic addon maker yet?

I have used DXUPAC.exe and made the OnePiece_Windows_Media_Player_11_True_AddOn_JPN.7z using
