DirectX File Collection and AddOn Builder

Post by bphlpt » Fri Sep 03, 2010 4:43 pm

I'd like to announce a new DirectX AddOn Builder available here - http://www.ryanvm.net/forum/viewtopic.php?p=107827. It is structured so that it should run correctly anywhere in the world. The DirectX files are language nuetral, so the Switchless Installers and AddOn's it makes should be able to be installed on any version of Windows from 2000 thru Windows 7 in any language, both 32bit and 64bit. An installer for DirectX for Managed Code is included. Also, for the first time I know of, an Uninstaller is produced which can not only remove the DirectX AddOns it produces, but is also capable of completely removing any version of DirectX currently installed on your system. The program is also stuctured so that it should be very easy to translate into any other language - unfortunately, not by me. I'm ashamed to say I speak English only.

I would like to request the help of the international comunity here on the board. I need some volunteers.

I would like to accumulate a database of all the versions and languages of Windows on which this program has been successfully run to produce the AddOns, and then on which systems were those AddOns installed. Also I would like some feedback on the easiest way, for the user, for me to handle multiple languages. Optional ini files? Can you point me to some examples of other programs you feel handle this issue well? Are there any volunteers who would be willing to handle the translation to another language? I'd much rather use a person than a translator program.

I'm also interested if anyone has any ideas of any additional features they would like to see added to the program, or things they would like changed. I will do my best to do anything possible within reason.

And lastly - try to break it. I would really like to make this program as "bulletproof", and "idiotproof" as practical, so I need as many people as possible to run it through its paces. Since all it does is put the AddOns together, there shouldn't be any way to damage anything by running the program. So have at it and do your worst. Using the AddOns it produces to install on your system carries the usual diclaimers, of course.

Thank you for your help in advance. I'm looking forward to hearing from you and finding out what you think.

Cheers and Regards

PS. If there is anyone who would be willing to translate this post into the appropriate language for the benefit of those whose English is a bit rusty, that would be really great.

Other than a translation, please respond at the above thread so everyone's comments will be available for the benefit of all.
