Here we go again. :(
"500 Error, Too many connections" when trying to access the forum. Trying to access just msfn.org produces a database error.
Hopefully another DDoS attack and not something worse, although this is annoying enough.

I’m getting a “no such file or directory” error, I hope its just a DDoS attack and not worse, but that error makes me think data is gone

Still the same this morning. That simply isn't good. And the fact that xper refuses to be contacted in any alternate way, isn't too helpful.

Does anyone have information about wincert.net forums ?
It seems broken since a few days: I can't post any new messages, private or public.

I hadn't noticed until you mentioned it. ( I haven't posted there in years) But the same is true for me. The site seems to work correctly, ie you can browse fine and it updates that you have read a thread or not, EXCEPT you can't seem to post, public or private. I have no idea what is going on.

Cheers and Regards

Same problems for me. Funnily enough, I'm also in the same general corner of the world as you two... Actually Jody I've caught you on the radio some. The one time that I particularly remember was Indie 88.1

I have sent a message to Xper about not being able to connect, but also mentioned that we are all in the same region in case there is just a routing issue or something like that.

As for canadian radio, I listen at times (reception can be weird such as if windy) but it is just some AM stations like 590, 610 and 1050.

I also can't connect, and haven't been able to for the last couple of days, (from South Carolina using SRWare Iron). I get:

This site can’t be reached

www.msfn.org took too long to respond.

Try:

Checking the connection
Checking the proxy and the firewall
Running Windows Network Diagnostics
ERR_TIMED_OUT

If I go via https, I connect to the domain but it times out performing TLS handshake. So this indicates that the browser is getting to the point of seeing that a certificate is present. If I go with just http, it times out entirely.

I wonder if xper got the message and is aware.
I sent him a message on MSFN weeks ago about another subject and the last time I looked a few days ago he hadn't even read it.

I was approached by someone at reddit who saw me posting about MSFN. He/she asked if I could pass along the URL of his/her forum (which they cite as similar in nature to MSFN)

https://forum.eclipse.cx

Now I haven't even clicked on it yet. I asked for more information, but if others are familiar with the domain and can vouch for its being trustworthy, then have at it.

I've looked at that forum.
As an MSFN moderator, I became aware that it was somewhere where disgruntled MSFN members had been known to go!
It is similar in forum subject matter to MSFN, but on nothing like the scale.
I have to say that I wasn't that impressed, it's certainly no substitute!

Unfortunately, eclipse has recently been seized by hostile members. I STRONGLY suggest you stay away.
The original owner and source of funding, Win32, was booted out. He no longer has any control of the forum, so do not trust it.

I will heed that warning. I was told by the person on reddit a whole long diatribe about some conflict, and it just made me dizzy to read. So I may be best to avoid the site

I was told to give it some "positive influence"....lol

So I go create an account there. Today I receive a message in reddit that says:

So the forum got spammed, then nuked, so I had to restore a older backup, your account no longer exists. (Sorry)

Well I just won't sign back up. Seems like odd timing to me

Even if something akin to that has happened, we have good enough backups. All of you sure remember we survived a similar situation not so long ago, with some loss of content. The only thing that worries me a little is xper's silence - hope he's all right! Then again his silence is not quite unusual of late... but in times of covid-19, worrying about too silen friends is actually unavoidable.

Oh no, we've been busted!
Seriously, this has been the bolt hole for quite a few years now for us to regroup if MSFN goes down.
I don't think anyone knows what exactly has happened, you seem to be able to connect to the server, but no content can be shown.
I'm thinking it's a security certificate issue, but that's only a guess.
The MSFN site owner Xper has been informed and apparently he has accessed the message, so it's just a matter of waiting for him to sort it out, he's the only one who can.
Let's hope it doesn't take too long!

Yup, hope it comes back soon.
I'm not really convinced that it's a a certificate issue, though.
When i try through ProxHTTPSProxyMII, i get error 502. This reminds me of recent issues with another site (myanimelist) where it was behaving in a similar way, but you could access it through the IP address. It turned out to be a DNS issue.
Sadly, that workaround doesn't work for msfn. This looks more like a problem with the host itself.

By the way, Roy has posted new browser builds. The NM27 links appear to be from last week though, so you have to dig in the releases directory for the new one.
