For customers that already have the .NET Framework 2.0 installed, this .NET Framework 3.0 redistributable package installs only the new Windows Vista components. This ensures that any .NET Framework 2.0-based applications work seamlessly when the .NET Framework 3.0 is installed, with no application migration or updates of any kind required.

.NET 3.0 = .NET 2.0 + Vista extensions

Unlike the difference between dotNET 1 and dotNET 2, dotNET 3 is fully backward-compatible with 2.0.

System integrators need only include 1.1 SP1 and 3.0 to provide the full dotNET runtimes.

Cool I didn't know that. . . . WOOOOHOOOO I can ditch the Slow Dot.Net 2 installer and put in my EVEN slower Dot.Net 3. . .

Well I can almost feel a good disk comming out at the end of this month. . . With IE7, MP11, DOT.NET 3 AND WHO KNOW WHAT ELSE MICROSOFT WILL RELEASE BY THEN (Live mail desktop, Messenger 8.1 just to name a couple)

Lets hope RyanVM has a good ammount of SPARE time to get his pack PERFECT with new hotfixes and Updates. . . And lets hope he wants to (cause it's an exciting month all round)! :)

I just extracted the single EXE file and heres what I found so far:

dotNetFramework
MSXML
RGBRAST
WCF
WF
WIC
WPF
XPS

the above ar the folders inside it (plus heeps of little files in root)

The Files inside 'dotNetFramework' are just the DOT.NET 2 setup. .

Thus confirms above post!!

This pack shall shrink HEAPS to be just a DOT.NET 3 Only Addon/Switchless

Anyone UP for a mission??? (Don't look at me 'I am a Noob' well to do with MSI modifing)!!

Quote from Microsoft .NET Framework 3.0 Release Notes:
.NET Framework 3.0 installation may overwrite the localized version of MSXML6

On Windows XP SP2 and Windows 2003 SP1, if you have a localized version of MSXML6 previously installed, .NET Framework 3.0 installation will overwrite the localized MXSML6 with the English version.

To resolve this issue

Reinstall the localized version of MSXML6 after installing .NET Framework 3.0 .
