I'm a Winamp/MPC guy myself, though I'll sometimes play with Foober2000 as well.

Lol dgelwin, use Google and you'll find what is Foobar... :D

I also use Media Player Classic. It's GPL licenced (freeware) and it's working really ok.

But the best movie player is by far Zoom Player.

I'm just trying out Zoom Player 4.51. It looks like a great media player and very promising to be a replacement for WMP while offering all the same features WMP has.

VideoLan (VLC player) plays media files that others can't. Plays movie files in .bin format, no need to burn to disc just drag the .bin onto the player, also lets you pre-view .avi & .mpeg files before they have finished downloading so it's great for checking quality if you use programs like eMule. Developed by some clever french students ... it's a fine media player and you haven't even included it in your poll.

Windows Media Player Classic 6.4.9.9 for Video
Foobar .9 RC (2006-03-11)

I love foobar with freedb plugin because all my audio is wavpack with embedded cuesheet's. I've used pratically all music player's out there, and it's the best one IMHO, but it does have a learning curve.

Core Media Player for video (if they'd only make DVD's playable as the desktop! and fix litestep issues)
Winamp for Audio (with Direct Sound volume control disabled) as I love the Anunaki skin.

I usually use Windows Media Player for it have a beautiful skin yet not flowery. Sometimes I use Media Player Classic for some RealMedia files because someone forced some ad in them, that means play them in directshow mode is an impossible goal.
With Music, I often use the foobar2000 because the WinAMP's floweriness is apparent, I try it more than once, but I'm also still unaccustomed.
Maybe it has some simple skin but I think I have no patient to find it, so I go over to foobar, sometimes use Windows Media Player.

Media Player Classic for video

...and its ALL about XMPlay for Audio, I can't believe no one has mentioned it yet. Incredible plugin support, amazing playback engine. I used QCD for over 3 years, and after a day of playing with XMPlay, I ditched QCD for good!

It's gotta be winamp, tho some 'stuffed' Divx/xvids are better on MPC/BSplayer. I think to make sure u can play stuff even when it was encoded by a 'tard you gotta have a few players :)

audio- foobar
video- mpc, vlc, sometimes mplayer

yes, it was a long and hard way from early windows media players and winamps to where i am at now. somewhere in the middle, my heart went for bsplayer.. all until adware came in. i had a choice to use earlier version of it. but i chose something else.. and i'm not regreting a damn thing.

i also am a gr8 fan for MPC but i like using VideoLan for almost all video and audio needs.. it is small but very stable.. like this one more any other..

Preferential Choice..

1. Videolan
2. Media Player Classic
3. Winamp
4. Windows Media Player (Buggy) <-- This is my last option .. :)

This also actually reminds me of an old media player named Sonic which was very cut n small and i loved it like crazy to play MP3.. any one reme, ber that player ?? If yes, please tell me where can i find it.. I had a previous version burnt to a disk but the disk went crazy.. I tried IsoBuster but it failed to extract it ..

i love this site.. im growing to be a fan ..............

I have used all the above mentioned and as a hard core movie collector (not XXX BTW) I know a great player when I see one. . . This one is the most STABLE and FASTEST and Pretiest (WINAMP Ripoff) player that can also play part files (from ed2k networks as good or better than VLC), everyone is aloud an opinion BUT IF YOU HAVENT TRIED THIS DO SO:

Also has huge range of built in codec supported (AUDIO too)

Also using Songbird, when Firefox + FoxyTunes is not enough.
