Post by Xtremee » Tue Sep 08, 2009 6:07 am

Hi all,

I wanna to perform an installation to a specific profile only. So that I goolged and found that I need to change the following registry entry

Code: Select all

But as you all know that this number is changed from a computer to another and this number is depend on your SID.

Thus What Should I do?

when you log on with that user, the key HKEY_CURRENT_USER equals to it.

I don't quitely understand whether you insist to modify a user's profile without log on.
If so, maybe autoit helps you bacause you can use it to read registry then decide whose profile you want to change by setting a variable for it.

Then as the user who is currently "using" the computer, the specific SID is mapped to HKEY_CURRENT_USER. Therefore you would not have to change anyone else's profile.

If you want to change someones profile who is not currently logged in, that is more complicated and I would suggest you look into yumeyao's suggestion above.
