im afraid there are lots of leechers on the forum. a small minoriy of users make a lot of good software and they are downloaded silently, disregarded the time spent on it. on some forums ive seen that download links are hidden still an user has put 10 posts. it would be a good idea here to prevent massive leeching. you can also verify that just looking that there is always a lot of users browsing this site but few are registered.

Is it really a big enough problem to spend a lot of time trying to fix?

when the new RVMi for Win7 is completed I'm sure the forums herenewsposter wrote:I've got a feeling that as many/most people move on to Win7, the board here will get less traffic.
No sense putting in place something that would further reduce the traffic.
will start filling up addons and packs for the new OS.
XP will be around for a while....

Well, I guess its up to the add-on maker to decide that. If they like to make it public or only available for the community.
Well, in some forum they do something like this:

It doesn't harm people don't stay a step here saying "thanks", but it HARMS when ALL people do this.
I always dislike forums in China because there are always accessing restricts, and full of "thanks" replies but no feedbacks. A result is that people don't read the replies carefully(finding useful information among tons of "thanks"? huh!), and most authors don't care about people's feedbacks at all, what they care about is the useless amount of replies, WTF!
And for the user, saying "thanks" will be a behavior for leechering, not showing respect, that will be sad.
Anyway I've been trying my best to lead a Chinese forum of my friend to make it somewhere people can learn, share things for free.

Personally I have never disregarded the time and effort put into all the tools posted for download here. It not only saves me considerable time, but I also learn a lot and it makes tinkering with my system really interesting! (It also gives me reason to keep Windows 7 on the back burner.)a small minoriy of users make a lot of good software and they are downloaded silently, disregarded the time spent on it.
If constructive feedback is wanted by the builder of the pack or addon for anyone downloading it, can't that be simply stated in the initial post for that download?
Also, what if in a particular case, suppose no issue is discovered by the downloader?
What should they post? Just "Thank You, it seems to work perfect."
I agree with yumeyao,
and also RyanVM,It doesn't harm people don't stay a step here saying "thanks", but it HARMS when ALL people do this.
I could be wrong, but I think most people who encounter an issue with something download here and are capable of providing constructive feed back on that issue, would do so without much hesitation in order to assist in bettering it.Is it really a big enough problem to spend a lot of time trying to fix?
