Harkaz, I'm !!VERY!! impressed!
Came home from work, saw you released SP4 just an hour prior, immediately did a test:
(1) Integrate SP4 into my SPSP3 (2) Use DPBase to add storage drivers (SATA etc) (3) Create iso (4) Boot my test system with Win8PESE-64 (5) Use WinNTSetup to install XPSP4
Everything worked perfectly! All previous issues are nowhere to be found (no WinNTSetup file not found errors, no txtmode file-not-founds, no delay at first boot).
Like I said, this is very, very, VERY impressive! I can never thank you enough for all your work, it is so rare for one man to have all the qualities you have: Not only a PC wizard, but also kindly sharing everything, great documentation, etc. etc. Amazing!!!
So as a next step, I would really like a localized (Dutch) version, but please, just enjoy all the praise you will undoubtedly get first, for a few weeks...
Thank you, thank you, thank you.

This is... I don't know... WONDERFUL!!!

I have so many tests to do.
But I've questions and comments too.
- I've tried to disable SFC/WFP but nothing - not working - probably they MUST be signed.
- Honestly I want to be able to select Components during setup, something like 9.x era setup it is very useful (NETFX4 is standard today).
2.) 4GB Limit - nice patch, useful also... too much for someones, but of course they always have always XP x64 for more RAM.
3.) Do you think that somewhere (I think at the header) in EULA needs to be putted some text only for information that this installation is not clean SP3 media?
4.) Also I think that is good to bliss.bmp to be overwrited with bliss.jpg (original image: 600DPI which can be found here - of course you can downsize to 1920x1200 / 1920x1080 pixels) - for full experience on Full HD monitors.
5.) Good Idea to continue Floppy setup support.
6.) Have you consider XP SP4 WIM version installer? This can be arrange with PantherXP mode - with file from SP3 to accepts SP3's serial keys.
-That is not illegal I think. Sysprep is here with some reason isn't it (is already included into Deploy.cab in Support tools of SP3 media).
----------------------
7.) @Other users:
Would be very nice if there are True Addons from following Microsoft software:
- Windows Movie Maker 2.6 (With much more transitions then 2.1)
- Photo Story 3
- XML Notepad 2007
- Visual C++ Redistributable packs 2005-2013 with all Service Packs / Updates.
- Microsoft Sudoku (MS game)
- Skype (now it is MS software)

Not sure about the 2.6 which is the same i thought and i had problems with it and so i sticked with the original movie maker from XP bc it hasn't been changed at all even thou i like new features with it but kinda moved to Sony Vegas with better options.
Congrats, downloading now, my sub email is messed up again, i was wondering what was taking so long. can't wait to test it out on my Dell Dimension e510.
ps, about divx i was asking earlier about a week back that dudeuk private msg me was a dud link, expired, still look'n for it thats updated to at least v.10 to be used with nlite

Do a manual slipstream intrgrationbeginagain wrote:Hi I´d tried to slipstream (integrate) in Windows XP installation media with no success. Nlite ignore the sp4 exe. please a little help seems im missing something.
To slipstream, run the command WindowsXP-USP4-x86-ENU.exe /integrate:C:\xppro where c:\xppro is a folder that contains the extracted contents of SP3 ISO.
xppro is an example of the folder that contains your windows ISO CD.
When I manually slipstream integrated "WindowsXP-USP4-x86-ENU.exe" to my cd and made an iso with night with no extra stuff, no drivers added yet with no fixes or anything, quick ran it to my fusion ware and already has auto updates that seem similar to the other post since beta 1 or 2.
Automatic updates has

kb890830
other than this error again, not yet tested on Dell pc yet.

I'll try again to see if something i might've messed up but the process of nlight was success including manual integration.

@Anthony21 Automatic updates works normally - these are post-EOL updates.
I have tested Windows XP SP4 in VMWare using a Dell MCE2005 DVD without issues. Probably you won't face this issue in real hardware.
@maxtorix Probably I will add bliss.jpg in post-sp4 update pack. The sysprep image is not an option because it will work with a specific number of product keys - plus I have received DMCA complaints in the past for doing this with Windows 7 Unofficial SP2 (W7USP2)...
All SPs don't change the EULA in the installation media. That is, for example, if you slipstream XP SP4 to SP1 media you will get a SP1 EULA. Probably I could change this but I haven't decided it yet.

right nonw to get my rom working, decided to format the drive, used my dell installation cd, then installed sp4rc.exe while my nlite xp+sp4 with no drivers iso burning to disk i looked around and noticed new music i havent seen before and this is the error i get from media player not sure if these music from my disk or not but that doesn't matter, the error i'm getting.

@Anthony21 Does this happen with every music file you're trying to play? I know that Dell disks includes music that is DRM-protected, so this may be the culprit.

I forgot about the DRM-protected and yes, that seems to be the culprit, after installing my audio n played music from another drive and the program Addons K-Lite Codec Pack Mega 9.9.5 to it, video plays fine as well.harkaz wrote:@Anthony21 Does this happen with every music file you're trying to play? Works bug free. not sure why still optional updates for update rollup kb925766 & WMP 11 for mce 2005. http://postimg.org/image/4ecy9c6o1/harkaz wrote:Probably you won't face this issue in real hardware.
but other than that, works great, still able to use my modifications with the kind of glitch's, hacks, tricks with the programs i use including no crashes or errors with sony vegas since beta3, and no problems with my cd/dvd rom problem either what ever happen between Beta 2 and the RC fixed it from beta 3 not able to read my rom even uninstalling and reinstalling the rom, i'm happy, thx for making this possible.
PS.
what other types of silent installers out there? New to SFX Maker + universal silent switch n havn problems just making a new updated version of chrome, have the v16 offline installer.
(I.C.U.P i have a great sense of humor at times)

Install these two updates and send me the C:\Windows\KB925766.log file. I have added a special sp3.cab just to fix this issue but I cannot test with Dell disc atm since validation is required.
Also, can you play video before installing the codecs?
I'll try to fix all issues you reported.

ok, probably sometime 2moro, think when i added my drivers in twice i think, something went totally went south n had some problems like cd rom not there with classic windows and internet explore had a green blue world icon again with bunches of errors before getting to the desktop, still have my copy iso of just cd + sp4 just in case something went wrong.harkaz wrote:Install these two updates and send me the C:\Windows\KB925766.log file. Nothing really, just adding drivers and a few have programs like Graphical user interface Diagnostic Ultility, 32bit dell diagnostic utility, Bios Flash, dell desktop software utility, bluetooth wireless kb + mouse bundle (nvr had anyway), dell support center, INPENUXP.cab, NIC ethernet Ultility, Modem Driver, which i'm getting rid of bc they're really not that important and not really gonna use them especially like modem is so old and broadband/cable n the card not being there no more, frgt y i even took that out like yrs ago.harkaz wrote:This means issues with Active Setup, most likely. What have you changed that changed Active Setup behaviour?
Wonder how well that be once thats out n now with the drivers..
Feel like an idiot now that somehow the last time i was dell.com for drivers n such witch was a few months back, went individual ones w/o installing them to see the info, here's a doozy for ya, n I know that i had it listed for XP only, have at least 5 drivers for vista, FUBOR the system all right BIG TIME. Might still add the programs to it to test out now without the vista BS. 5 bad files, 10 good files that says XP.
Let ya know how well it goes this time. Didn't realize it, i was positive i was look at section for XP drivers, didn't help with all the drivers including in the same section of what month day year together witch made it more messy as hell, been easier that i call dell for a CD before 2014 or at January or February
Not so much a bug maybe but I tried to install .Net Framework 4 from Control Panel and it asked and demanded for a cd 2 of sp4 in order to instal it. I was quite disappointed by that. This is installed on my Dell Dimension 3000 which I am actively using. Other than that I have found nothing wrong. It's perfect besides that one issue so far. I installed it directly from the .EXE file for POSReady.
I thought you might want to know.

@PJAmerica This is normal. Windows XP SP4 is designed for 2 CDs. If you've merged everything into a single disc, then that disk will be Windows XP SP4 CD2 as well.
@Anthony21 Waiting for your report about KB925766.log and the driver errors. I will examine the DRM issue closer: this must be related to the new security enhancements in xpfixit.inf. In addition I will reexamine some keys there so that I don't add references to files missing in N versions (this would create a security risk instead of enhancing it). These references will be moved to wmp.inf instead. In addition, since XP SP4 RC will be rereleased as RC2/Final (depends on how many scenarios are investigated by testers), I will try to include the Bliss.jpg as default "Luna" theme wallpaper.

I think that the problem i was having was the issue from bad drivers from about 3-4 errors from windows bsosetup then got 5-8 errors again i reported several weeks ago were due to bad drivers witch also caused my rom not working showing its there but not there even thou reinstalling the rom, and also I found out that my Memorex DVD RW i was using for quiet some time were having problems, even writing problems and verifying as well.
This past hr latest manual integration with nlite adding XP drivers (no vista drivers) under my working normal windows xp sp3 i use everyday in vmware fusion is a success new iso with a different same model memorex dvd rw disk.
Somehow it missed my ethernet controller n network controller driver and the SM Bus Driver. Unless that was do from the option i clicked delete after installing.
C:\Windows\KB925766.log
Doesn’t exist. Search Results: no file exist.
Besides the missing codec for playing avi videos depending on how it was saved is giving the default music background. music plays, the default music that came with dell.iso doesn't work but to me, it doesn't matter but if you like to fix it, go ahead, idc.

@Anthony21 Try installing the KB925766 from Windows Update first.
About video, I want to verify if built-in MCE2005 videos play as they should without the extra codecs (for example Recorded TV). Music will not play even if I fix it - what I need to do is to fix it so that DRM popup Window shows up. But since you cannot download DRM license (it also happens with original SP2 OEM CD for some reason) you won't be able to play these files anyway.

for video, its not like i could've used and tried the default videos that came with it to test it out without any codecs installed, drm issue. ill see if my fusion ware default videos n copy that over to see if that does anything. not the same disk that made my vmware from.
UPDATE: scratch vmware and my old compaq home edition pc, i thought it came with default video, i copied a video from my SSD windows 7 default video "Wildlife in HD.wmv" and that works with no codecs installed. more codecs like avi i was trying to test out (gave the default music sound picture) would work if divx n k lite codec pack mega 9.9.5 was installed along with it. still looking for updated ones thou, get some error msg having 9.9.5 with nlight saying something is better than the other but still gets installed thou.
Just the curiosity, lol, be cool to add the files of codecs from installation programs and some how add those codecs to the default windows and then find a way to use those as well, wouldn't be surprise if that actually can work thou but just a curiosity.

for video, its not like i could've used and tried the default videos that came with it to test it out without any codecs installed, drm issue. ill see if my fusion ware default videos n copy that over to see if that does anything. not the same disk that made my vmware from.

Yeah, but I didn't merge anything or burn anything to cd. I installed it straight from the POSReady EXE file. So why am I prompted for this CD2 and the fact that I can't install .NET Framework 4 is an issue as well. I had to install .NET Framework 4 with offline installer instead.harkaz wrote:@PJAmerica This is normal. Windows XP SP4 is designed for 2 CDs. If you've merged everything into a single disc, then that disk will be Windows XP SP4 CD2 as well.
So not so normal when it expects a CD when none is used. What about those who use POSReady EXE?

I used the pos exe with no disk to get my dell off of sp2 real fast without any issues, the one w/o pos, i haven't tested.PJAmerica wrote:

So did I. I was talking to harkaz though. Sorry for quoting his response to you as well.Anthony21 wrote:I used the pos exe with no disk to get my dell off of sp2 real fast without any issues, the one w/o pos, i haven't tested.PJAmerica wrote:

@PJAmerica
If it was a live install, Windows XP SP4 CD2 files can be found in C:\WINDOWS\ServicePackFiles\cmpnents. Specify this path INSTEAD of X:\ (where X is your disk drive letter) when prompted for CD2. Unfortunately, I cannot automate this because the system is designed to search in \i386 subfolder of the C:\WINDOWS\ServicePackFiles\ folder ONLY.

@Anthony21 Can do the following for me?
1. Reinstall MCE2005 with SP4 slipstreamed, Automatic Updates disabled.
2. Copy psisrndr.ax, psisdecd.dll, msdvbnp.ax from C:\Windows\System32 to C:\Windows\Driver Cache\i386.
3. Search for updates manually. Are these 2 updates still there?
PS Recorded TV is NOT protected - it should play normally!

1. Since the nics driver weren't going to work anyway right away, i clicked automatic updates enabled.
2. when clicking on Windows Update, it won't pop up internet explorer but it will place it under the recent open programs list once hitting start (keep clicking on it will just make it the top program you click on), gotta go to internet explorer (closed it out or not) then windows update from start menu will then work, weird glitch. ----still did it even without drivers being installed, used slipstream sp4 with some drivers included----
3. yes, that worked, they are no longer there in custom updates.
Other than the high 9 (8 priority updates of posready) and 1 KB890830.
other optional updates lists
KB2998527, Silverlight. and (besides the live essentials and security essentials, i'll pass)
@Anthony21 Yes, I am aware of that glitch - it is related to the IE8 Welcome screen. The same glitch affects Search and other IE extensions as well. Probably I will disable Welcome Screen in the Final Version.
NOTE: By design some shell features might not work properly unless you reboot your system after first logon. This happens because IE8 files are installed later in Windows Setup.

https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B14fsd ... sp=sharing
might start doing some nlite add ons if anyone else is looking for, private msg me a program n i'll see what i can do.
The Media Acquisition Dialog issue is not related to the xpfixit.inf after all...
I will investigate this more...

I looked through the documentation and could not find such an answer. Anyways. I find that to be flawed. Other than that great job and perfect for Home Edition. Thanks for everything.harkaz wrote:@PJAmerica

Ps. Does this work in nlite? The process required to do it manually is above my abilities.
Scenario:
In live installation on Windows XP SP3 depolyed via WIM (syspreped in 2011)
Installation of XP SP4 finished without any issues.
In time of installation I select - Not Archive files.
And from Control Panel -> Add/Remove Programs when I click on Add/Remove Windows Components I got the following errors:

I got the same thing in a test I did. I found the solution. You need to go to your sysoc.inf file and comment out (with a ; in front of the line) any line that has the error. I think it is because the SP4 update updates that file and shows several entries that we removed with nlite, such as games.inf and a few others.maxtorix wrote:Scenario:

You might have guessed what caused the WMP11 DRM issue (CAT signing again). I will also add MS CATs for MCE2005 updates.
I fixed a bunch of other glitches, except for the IE8 glitch Anthony21 mentioned.
I won't release Final version immediately - I expect you to test RC in as many scenarios as possible.
UPDATE:
@PJAmerica I also found a solution for your issue
I will try to add some MCE2005 files as well, so that sfc /scannow does not ask for CD2.

i know we're probably not 'supposed' to use other update packs along with SP4, but i guess some of us are "set" in our ways, lol...
i integrated SP4 into my source SP3, flawless, works like a charm...
so then i tried to take that integrated-SP4 source and run it through nLite...
didn't work so well for me
i think it's only because i wanted to integrate my own IE8 update pack that caused the fail... i'm "hooked" on my own IE8 updated pack...
haven't dug deep enough into SP4, but will there be (or is there already) a way to modify how IE8 installs? such as set a localhost proxy, disable certificate "crap", never underline links, set "history" settings, delete history on exit, not memorize passwords, disable form fill stuff, disable SmartScreen, et cetera?
also, will there be a way to integrate SP4 into an SP3 source withOUT the .NET frameworks? ie, the notes cite a 15-minute first-boot then reboot because of the way that .NET is installed... but there are .NET update packs available that do not have that first-boot "side effect" and what if we'd rather use those instead of the .NETs that come "with" SP4?

@long-lurker This 15-min delay after reboot is for live installation only
No, you cannot remove .NET Framework from live installer unless you edit update.inf yourself (I don't support it).
For IE8 addon you have to edit SP4's ie.inf with the settings you desire.

NOTE: Anthony21's glitch happens because IE8 is installed completely after Windows Setup finishes. There is quick way to fix this glitch: as soon as you log in for the first time, log off and then log on again. This fixes all IE shell pending tasks and completes Web Folders (rosebud) installation.
UPDATE: I will try an additional change, expecially for this glitch. Remember that everything is OK after second logon when you install Windows XP SP4 from CD-ROM.
