Disabled Task Manager ?

Post by Sanjay » Mon Mar 06, 2006 1:09 pm

Does anyone have an idea as to which addon may be causing the following:

When I click on 'Ctrl-Alt-Del' to run Task Manager, I get the following message "Task Manager has been disabled by your administrator."

I am using the following addons:
  • 01. addon_7zip432_dgelwin.cab
    02. addon_Net2.0_v1.3_dgelwin.cab
    03. Jondar_RegeditCPL_Addon_v1.0.cab
    04. Kel_CPLBonus_addon_v2.2.CAB
    05. Kels_AutoPlay_addon_v1.1.CAB
    06. Kels_Uber_Addon_v5.6.CAB
    07. MrsP_Absolutist_Flash_Games_Addon_v1.0.cab
    08. MrsP_DAMN_NFO_Viewer_Addon_v2.10.0032.cab
    09. MrsP_Deadly_Rooms_Of_Death_Addon_v1.6.7.cab
    10. MrsP_FreeWare_Games_Addon_v1.1.cab
    11. MrsP_MSGreetFonts_Addon.cab
    12. MrsP_MSPubFonts_Addon.cab
    13. MrsP_MSWorksFonts_Addon.cab
    14. MrsP_Neave_Flash_Games_Addon_v1.0.cab
    15. ProgramAddons_WU6_full_.CAB
    16. ProgramAddonsFlash8.CAB
    17. ProgramAddonsJava.cab
    18. ProgramAddonsShockwave.CAB
    19. RogueSpearAddonsAdobeReader_7.0.7.cab
    20. RogueSpearAddonsDVDFabDecrypter_2.9.7.2.cab
    21. RogueSpearAddonsDVDShrink_3.2.0.15.cab
    22. RVMAddonsMSIDLLOld.cab
    23. RVMAddonsUxtheme_1.0.cab
    24. RVMAddonsWMP10_2.1.cab
    25. SiginetAddon_NETFXSP1_1.1.CAB
    26. UnO_OfficeUpdateEngine-v1.0_addon.cab
    27. WGATool-1.3.272.cab
How can I enable 'Task Manager' again?

Thanks

Try using less addon's and figure out what causes the problem.

No idea which of the add-ons are causing the problem, however...

does this work aroundhelp?

Just set the registry value to 0, rather than 1.

Thanks a ton. Atleast my immediate problem is solved, now to figure out what and how it got turned off to begin with.

Because another unattended DVD of mine did not have this problem and since it also has the following addons, they are therefore probably not the cause:
  • 01. addon_7zip432_dgelwin.cab
    02. addon_Net2.0_v1.3_dgelwin.cab
    03. Kel_CPLBonus_addon_v2.2.CAB
    04. Kels_Uber_Addon_v5.6.CAB
    05. MrsP_Absolutist_Flash_Games_Addon_v1.0.cab
    06. MrsP_DAMN_NFO_Viewer_Addon_v2.10.0032.cab
    07. MrsP_Deadly_Rooms_Of_Death_Addon_v1.6.7.cab
    08. MrsP_FreeWare_Games_Addon_v1.1.cab
    09. MrsP_MSGreetFonts_Addon.cab
    10. MrsP_MSPubFonts_Addon.cab
    11. MrsP_MSWorksFonts_Addon.cab
    12. MrsP_Neave_Flash_Games_Addon_v1.0.cab
    13. ProgramAddons_WU6_full_.CAB
    14. ProgramAddonsFlash8.CAB
    15. ProgramAddonsJava.cab
    16. ProgramAddonsShockwave.CAB
    17. RogueSpearAddonsAdobeReader_7.0.7.cab
    18. RogueSpearAddonsDVDFabDecrypter_2.9.7.2.cab
    19. RogueSpearAddonsDVDShrink_3.2.0.15.cab
    20. RVMAddonsUxtheme_1.0.cab
    21. RVMAddonsWMP10_2.1.cab
    22. SiginetAddon_NETFXSP1_1.1.CAB
    23. UnO_OfficeUpdateEngine-v1.0_addon.cab
    24. WGATool-1.3.272.cab
Which leaves only the following:
  • 01. Jondar_RegeditCPL_Addon_v1.0.cab
    02. Kels_AutoPlay_addon_v1.1.CAB
    03. RVMAddonsMSIDLLOld.cab
Could any of these be causing the problem?

A highly doubt it's my addon since there would be a ton of other reports if that were the case. So I'd say to try the other two in your list one at a time and see which breaks it.
