I'll probably end up putting WMP11 into the update pack. It sounds like it's going to be a much better replacement for WMP9 than WMP10 ever was.

I just hope that it won't mess with my ID3 tags by default like v10 does.

For some strange reason I don't trust it will be released the time the leaked info said.

But one can always hope.

I personally wouldn't consider TheHotfix to be the most reliable source of information ;)

The reported release date might be correct, considering that WMP 11 for WinXP is available all over the net (ofcourse as a leak) and people reporting that it works fine.

It does not work for me. Although installation went smoothly, WMP 11 crashes upon starting. :(

Could this have anything to do with the addon packs that I/we are using? More specifically could this have anything to do with 'RyanVM WMP10 Addon Version 2.4' or for that matter 'RVMUpdatePack2.0.5.cab' ? Just wondering.

Ignore my earlier post, I figured out that the problem lay in the way I was installing it. WMP11 is running smoothly now.

WMP 11 beta is out, BUT you can no longer back up your lisences! IF you have DRM protected files and have to reinstall you can no longer recoup your backed up lisences nor can you back them up prior to reinstalling! That alone will be why I will never upgrade to it, I surely hope that Ryan doesn't include this version in his future packs.

Here's the link to it if anyone cares:
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/window ... fault.aspx

See here about the lisences not being allowed to be backed up:
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/window ... px#1608319

Also it will not work on versions of WMC prior to Rollup version 2 for 2005 edition!

That is beyond stupid. More reason why DRM is total shit.

Real frakked up bag o' beans they've got here. Only marginally improved skinning on the interface for those who desire simpler and then they go and cock up the whole thing. I think I'll stick with just installing the Framework Handlers for MPC to play WMP10/11 stuff.

Just before going to sleep, here is the addon I'm working on

PARTIALLY BASED ON "RVM Addons WMP10 2.4" (as WMP11 was out, I didn't upgrade to 2.5)

TEST VERSION 0.3 - NEED TO BE IMPROVED - 0.2 TESTED ON VM ONLY -

0.3 NOT TESTED, IT'S REALLY LATE, I NEED TO SLEEP - HELP WELCOME

Thanks to RYANVM, and thanks to all the others menbers of the RYANVM Forum.

Windows Media Player 11 build 11.0.5358.4827

RVM Integrator Add-on (tested on 1.22, seems to not work with Nlite (thanks to owikh84, I will made a complete test...))

There is a lot to do :
Clean the inf (destination folders, strings, etc...)
Add WMP Tweaks to install (MP3, DVD, FIRST START, GUI, etc... (WMP10 Tweaks works))
Add Classic WMP (in case...)
Pre-integrate the existing files in i386 folder to reduce space (tested)

http://www.mytempdir.com/684671

I hope this release will not harm anyone, please ask me and I will remove it in the minute.

About the WGA needed to install WMP11 but not to use it, I assume you are legit owner of your XP.

I made my test with a XP SP2, ryanvm update pack 2.0.6, and ryan integrator, then I use nlite to add reg tweaks, ie7 beta 2 and framework 1.1sp1 and 2.0

History
0.3
Correct and cleaning a bit the INF, don't know if the problem is corrected, I need to sleep and it's really late, but you can take a look if you want to help !!!

0.2
Correct the INF, the resulting install show that all work except the files that should be in %systemdrive%\program files\windows media player are in %systemdrive%, sure a destination folder error.

0.1
Forget to add
[SourceDisksNames.x86]
1="Windows Media Player Files","wmp11.cab",,"I386"
to "wmp11.inf", no windows media player in the VM install, as the files needed by the inf wasn't found (no error on install), because the system doesn't know they are in the CAB

why did u put all files in the cab inside the cab? there are files that updates the files on cd so u can leave them outside that cab..also the files that go to system32 or windows folders can be left out.

To owikh84 : I made my test with a XP SP2, ryanvm update pack 2.0.6, and ryan integrator, then I use nlite to add reg tweaks, ie7 beta 2 and framework 1.1sp& and 2.0... when you say it didn't work can you give more clue ? integration gone bad ? or no WMP after install ? or wmp file in the root drive ? etc ...

To booggy, it's scheduled, this is only my alpha test release...

Can someone test an install using the same way (ryanvm update pack and framework seems a minimal) I did (see the answer I made to owikh84), because now after sleeping it's working time...

to integrate WMP11 to XPCD unpack it. modify paths and run

C:\WMP11\umdf.exe /integrate:C:\XPCD
C:\WMP11\wmfdist11.exe /integrate:C:\XPCD
C:\WMP11\wmp11.exe /integrate:C:\XPCD

I didn't try but when you use the integrate switch with hotfixes (KB*), it integrate them in scvpack, and launch them in silent mode... it's more like a slient install... I will continnue in the way I start...

boooggy: what do you mean? it works fine. the only problem is that it uses a lot of space on the CD (80mb)

Before tryng to integrate the files in the i386 folder and using a CAB, I first try to integrate them using the original update.exe like that :

here is the CMD files I was using :

cmdow @ /HID
@Echo Off

rename "%systemdrive%\Program Files\Windows Media Player\wmplayer.exe" wmplayer10.exe

regsvr32 /s /u custsat.dll
regsvr32 /s /u mpvis.dll
regsvr32 /s /u npdrmv2.dll
regsvr32 /s /u npdsplay.dll
regsvr32 /s /u npwmsdrm.dll
regsvr32 /s /u wmpband.dll
regsvr32 /s /u wmpns.dll

wmp11\update\update.exe /quiet /passive /norestart /nobackup
wmfdist11\update\update.exe /quiet /passive /norestart /nobackup
umdf\update\update.exe /quiet /passive /norestart /nobackup
wmdbexport.exe

copy /y wmp11\*.dll "%systemdrive%\Program Files\Windows Media Player\"
copy /y wmfdist11\*.dll "%systemdrive%\Program Files\Windows Media Player\"
copy /y umdf\*.dll "%systemdrive%\Program Files\Windows Media Player\"

copy /y Skins\*.wmz "%systemdrive%\Program Files\Windows Media Player\skins\"

copy /y Playlist\*.wpl "%systemdrive%\Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents\My Music\Sample Playlists\"
copy /y Playlist\*.wpl "%systemdrive%\Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents\My Music\Sync Playlists\"

wmp11\update\update.exe /quiet /passive /norestart /nobackup

regedit /S wmp11.reg

regsvr32 /s custsat.dll
regsvr32 /s mpvis.dll
regsvr32 /s npdrmv2.dll
regsvr32 /s npdsplay.dll
regsvr32 /s npwmsdrm.dll
regsvr32 /s wmpband.dll
regsvr32 /s wmpns.dll

In fact, I extract all the SFX found in the main install and then launch the update from them.
I also copy dll in manual because sometime it didn't work, for the same reason, i reinstall a second time wmp11
Skink and playlist are manually copied...

But this solution wasn't a pretty one, so I stop it after the 4th build

The main problem is that all dll didn't go to the WMP folder, but I didn't spend time finding witch one...

wow, u got IE7 Beta2 and Net FrameWork 2.0+1.1 SP1 to work with your WMP11.cab? Where can i get all these cab's? i'm using addon_Net2.0_v1.3_dgelwin.cab and RogueSpearAddonsIE7beta2.cab
but net2.0 made problem to WMP11 installation as repored here:

may i know where can i get your net 2.0+1.1 sp1 as well as IE7 Beta CAB's. Thanks.

1. for net 1.1SP1 and 2.0, i use the addon by rf12 (integrate using Nlite but RYANVM integrator should give the same result)

viewtopic.php?t=2270

2. for IE7, I use the original installer that I use with nlite 1.0 rc8 (but I don't have tabs and vista skins... ? don't know why, I try the xmlsetuplite.exe but still nothing ?) (So i use maxthon 2.0 preview and maxthon 1.0 with black aero skin with ie7 engine...)

3. I integrate my cab with ryanvm not using the GUIRUNONCE...

The order I use (since january) to build my test ISO:

1. RyanVM for all my cab
2. Nlite for EXE hotfix not included in update pack and reg tweak
3. BTS driverpack integration
4. Manual install using $OEM$

BUT according to your screenshot, the problem is related to wrong path !

did you put your files in "$OEM$\$$\APPS" (aka %SYSTEMDRIVE%\windows\apps)?

dude that is the way i made that.
i add that 3 files to a folder created via txtsetup. in this way that 3 files are getting copied in that folder (windows\apps) and from there i command this 3 files via runonceex to get installed.
my addon is a switchless installer which has nothing to do with the addon presented here. also it has nothing to do with $OEM$ folder either. u have to first understand how xp setup works and then try to explain something. a helpfull link: http://unattended.msfn.org/unattended.xp/

????? Maybe you could help him instead of telling this ? You know... sharing knowledge, help the lower, being humble, etc... I know you didn't think bad writting this, but you should writte thinking how the others will understand you...

anyway let stop the polemic, we are here to integrate WMP11 not to tell who have the biggest balls.

To owikh84 : When I cannot achieve a working install using an addon and after I tried 2 or 3 times, I stop using it and I try a build mine. So try the test build I upload and help me to make it work ! It could be a good exercise...

The point boooggy is trying to make is that WMP is a very complicated program to integrate into the CD. If you don't have even the most basic unattended concepts down, it's going to be way more trouble than it's worth to try and explain what's going on.

There's an old saying that you have to learn to crawl before you learn to walk. Don't get mad at boooggy because he has the guts to be honest with you. This forum isn't here to patronize people. If you don't like the fact that it takes a LOT of reading and research to take on a project like this, then I suggest you go elsewhere for help. I think you'll find that the regulars of this community (myself included) will show a lot of respect towards anybody who's willing to learn and be patient enough to learn things the right way. However, we are NOT here to provide you with a quick fix.

i am sorry if i offend anybody, but i cant teach people basic unattend. and nico i tried to help but he cant provide me the basic info about what he is doing. of course his errors are cause of 2 factors that i am guessing: 1. the files are not getting copied during setup or 2. files are not getting installed during runonceex. but before i release any addons i tested several times in vm and real machine.
and u have a point that i agree if an addon doesnt work for me i will try to make one for myself.
anyway he got here on this thread where u trying to make something nice with an error that has nothing to do with your pack......i think this said it all......

TEST VERSION 0.9 - NEED TO BE IMPROVED - 0.9 TESTED ON VM ONLY - NEED A REAL TEST

Windows Media Player 11 build 11.0.5358.4827 RVM Add-on 0.9

RYANVM Integrator Add-on (tested on 1.22, seems to not work with Nlite (thanks to owikh84, I will made a complete test...))

PARTIALLY BASED ON "RVM Addons WMP10 2.4" (as WMP11 was out, I didn't upgrade to 2.5).

It use the same way to integrate and the WMP10 INF as example to build the WMP11 INF.

Thanks to RYANVM, and thanks to all the others menbers of the RYANVM Forum.
#Notes:
0. I should try to not build cab to late, because I forged a lot of things...

1. I hope this release will not harm anyone, please ask me and I will remove it in the minute (let a message in the RYANVM Forum thread (http://www.ryanvm.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2193)).

2. About the WGA needed to install WMP11 but not to use it, I assume you are legit owner of your XP.

3. I made my test with a XP SP2, ryanvm update pack 2.0.6 and framework 1.1sp1 and 2.0 using RYANVM Integrator 1.22, then I use nlite 1.0 RC8 to add reg tweaks and IE7 beta

4. For net 1.1SP1 and 2.0, i use the addon by rf12.
(viewtopic.php?t=2270)

5. For IE7 Beta 2, I use the original installer that I use with nlite 1.0 rc8 (but I don't have tabs and vista skin... ? don't know why, I try the xmlsetuplite.exe but still nothing ?) (So i use maxthon 2.0 preview and maxthon 1.0 with black aero skin with IE7 engine...).

6. I integrate my cab with ryanvm and it's a T-13 INF install.

7. To do list:
Add WMP Tweaks to install (MP3, DVD, FIRST START, GUI, etc... (WMP10 Tweaks works), I will use inf to do it)

8. There is one cab for each inf found in the original installer :
wmp11c.cab = Media player classic
wmp11d.cab = WMP11 dist
wmp11m.cab = WMP11 Main
wmp11p.cab = WMP11 PlayList
WMP11PIF.cab = WMP11 Pre-integrate files
wmp11u.cab = WMP11 UMDF

#History
0.9
After a lot of trouble, I made 6 cab instead of one, the final release will be in one ! But it's working !!!
Correct and clean the inf's, add media player classic 6.4.9.0 (http://sourceforge.net/projects/guliverkli/), use FGCBA 0.721 (http://tinyurl.com/lslmm) to check and build the cab.

0.8
I restart from scratch, using the microsoft inf and splitting the cab.

0.7
Add a new section in INF, to copy the 3 files, even if the existing section are all right, and this 3 files are the only missing... Add the file "setup_wm" that I forget to update. I just see that the main problem is wmp11.cab related, none of the files inside are in the install, I try to clean the [sourcediskfiles] section in the INF. I also clean the entries file.

0.6
I pre-integrate the 3 missing files in i386 folder, same errors...

0.5
Add the mising inf (he was sleeping the folder above my working directory... now WMP 11 is installed but during install I got 2 times the 3 same errors related to wmdrmdev.dll, wmdrmnet.dll and to wmdrmsdk.dll.

0.4
Correct and cleaning a bit the INF (strings part is clean now), pre-integrate the existing files in i386 folder, not working, I forget to put the inf in the cab...

0.3
Correct and cleaning a bit the INF (destination folders), no windows media player in install, grrrrr !!!

0.2
Correct the INF, the resulting install show that all work except the files that should be in %systemdrive%\program files\windows media player are in %systemdrive%, sure a destination folder error.

0.1
Forget to add
[SourceDisksNames.x86]
1="Windows Media Player Files","wmp11.cab",,"I386"
to "wmp11.inf", no windows media player in the VM install, as the files needed by the inf wasn't found (no error on install), because the system doesn't know they are in the CAB.

To treblA : Thanks for the test, so yes I thinks the problem is cause by the use of the RVM Addons WMP10 2.5 in addition of WMP11 cab

Why ? because a good part of the files used in the two add-ons have the same name, so it's very likely that WMP10 2.5 files overwrite WMP11 files... before doing another test without WMP10 2.5, can you check if you have files named WUDF*.* (there are related to UMDF (not included in WMP10 2.5)...

Hi,

Ok, I test the 6 CAB alone with RVM Integrator and then I add regtweak and winnt.sif with NLite (nothing else)

CORRECT : Install OK, WMP11 Binaries and DLL are at the correct place, WMP11 launch, IE6 start without problem, browsing HTML files offline is working.

WRONG : CAB adding the playlist isn't working, the WPL file are at the root of the systemdrive after install, it's about the destination foler in the INF (take a look, microsoft guys have strange mind sometimes...), will try to correct it...
WHEN I USE ALL THE ADD-ONS I HAVE (around 30), WMP11 ISN'T INSTALLED, THE CAB ARE NOT EXTRACTED AND THE INSTALLATION INITIATED BY THE INF GOES WRONG. THERE IS A LIMIT ? I TRY RIGHT NOW TO INSTALL USING HALF OF THE ADD-ONS TO FIND THE ONE WHO CAN BE IN CHARGE (IF THERE IS ONE).

Bonus question: Do you know if there a bug with obsolete files section in RVM Integrator ? (PM Only to not junk the thread...)

To treblA : Can you tell me the add-on that cause the error ?

To Everyone... : During the last 2 days, I didn't try to correct the last CAB, I test and test again, to find the add-on that work or not... (for now including previous build, I have done 26 full install of XP to test...) and to find the one that cause the error I have since the beginning... once found (tonight I hope), I will mix them in one CAB...

Stay tuned...

Hi,

So here is the report before sleeping...

1. The add-on that cause all my problem is "AudioShell extension by Kelsenellenelvian", I don't know why, I will try to solve this...

2. Here is the current to do list :

[DONE]
Add the missing "setup_wm.exe" file in order to have the WMP11 first time wizard instead of the WMP9 first time wizard...

[DONE]
Add the reg tweaks (MP3, DVD UI, First Time Wizard, connection, file association, etc...)

[DONE - I rebuild the inf]
Fix the WPL add-on

Mix all in one cab....
(there is the same problem as me here http://www.ryanvm.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2315)

3. To treblA : I use a AVG add-on using a SFX RAR archive with the extracted files of the web installer, using "avgsetup.exe /HIDE /DONT_START_APPS /NO_WELCOME" as command to launch after extraction

4. Final release this week...

Pre-Release VERSION 0.9.5 - TESTED ON VM ONLY - NEED A REAL TEST

Windows Media Player 11 build 11.0.5358.4827 RVM Add-on 0.9.5

RYANVM Integrator Add-on (tested on 1.22, seems to not work with Nlite (thanks to owikh84, I will made a complete test...))

PARTIALLY BASED ON "RVM Addons WMP10 2.4" (as WMP11 was out, I didn't upgrade to 2.5).
It use around the same way to integrate and the WMP10 INF as example to build the WMP11 INF.

Thanks to RyanVM, Boooggy, treblA, owikh84 and thanks to all the others menbers of the RYANVM Forum. Thanks also to n7Epsilon for FGCBA (http://www.ryanvm.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1577) and Reg2Inf converter (http://www.ryanvm.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2169). And a last thank to Gosh (http://gosh.msfn.org/)
#Notes:

3. I made my test with a XP SP2 and ryanvm update pack 2.0.6 only.

4. I integrate my cab with ryanvm and it's a T-13 INF install.

5. Mixing the cab together will be hard....

6. I need your report please

7. In order to be the most customizable as possible, I made the release in 10 Cab, just choice those you need or want...

WMP11_Dist(Needed).cab = WMP11 Distribution files
WMP11_FilesAssociationDefault(Option).cab = WMP Files Association for default files
WMP11_FilesAssociationExotic(Option).cab = WMP Files Association for Realmedia and Quicktime files (if you use alternative codecs series)
WMP11_FilesAssociationMisc(Option).cab = WMP Files Association for OGG, MKV, MPEG (alternative names)
WMP11_Main(Needed).cab = WMP11 Main Files
WMP11_MPClassic(Option).cab = Media Player Classic 6.4.9.0
WMP11_PlayList(Option).cab = WMP PlayList
WMP11_RegTweaks(Option).cab = WMP Registry Tweaks
WMP11_UMDF(Option).cab = UMDF Support
WMP11_WMP9ReplacementFiles(Needed).cab = WMP11 Replacement Files

@nico...thanks a lot...it works, file associations works flawlessly...

Hope you could make it in one cab... that's the only downside of it...you have to integrate the 10 cabs...

hope you could fix it...:)
