What antivirus are you using ? Are you using Comodo Firewall Pro with Defense+ enabled ?
If you turn off your AV auto protection or change process priority, does that fix the problem ?

*UPDATE*

The sinister app that was hindering my slipstreaming was, Spyware Doctor's File and Process Guard. Turned it off and it worked instantly!

Thanks for the replies.

for any further reference file and process guard also prohibits nlite from working properly. it simply crashes.

I have just one ennoying error with WMP. I integrated all updates from your list, all worked fine, but when I remove the icon from quicklaunch, it always reappears after I restat the pc or after I log off and log on again, even if I disabled WMP shortcuts from Add/Remove Windows Components. What's wrong?

nothing is wrong....is a normal behaviour.
if u want to disable for good.....then go to the inf folder and look for wmp.inf. open it in notepad and search for quicklaunch shortcut entry. delete the whole line and save it. thats it.....

i did like this
copy the source on my hdd
then run wmp11 slipstreamer with all hotfixes.
then integrate with nlite
1. xable's November update pack
2. DirectX 9.0 Novemver pack CNC
3. NR IE7

installed in vmware and all is perfect.
Ryan, 1st time user here and I wanted to say thanks for making this easier for users like myself.

With that said... I'm curious now as to what the latest and greatest files to use are.

Like you have listed in the post I am quoting, I will want to incorporate IE 7 and WM11 as well as DirectX 9.0c.

Is what you have above the lastest and greatest or are there updated files that I should be using?

Also, how is the order? Is that order still valid?

For example... I slip streamed WM11 into a copy of my Original XP MCE and that was successful, but when I tried using nLite to slip stream service packs, etc, I was warned about detecting previous hot fixes -- it then asked if I wanted to remove them.

I'm not quite sure how to proceed in those instances...

u used a version of mce that already has hotfixes slisptreamed...
so u better use a fresh copy with no hotfixes included.

Please boooggy, answer. The shortcut it's not a big problem, so if nothing else can be done I will get used to it, but i'm very curious about this issue. If I removed that line from the inf, what else makes the shortcut reappear?

Instead of deleting that line simply change the "yes" to a "no" and try that...

It might work...but now I can't write that line back because I removed it. I'll get used to it 'till the next windows reinstall. Booogy, when you release the next version of the intgrator, please modify what it takes to leave that shorcut t user's choice. Thank you, and Kel also.

Perhaps a bit on the early side....but, for experimentation purposes....is there a preferred or required order for integrating with XP SP3 (v3264)?

I have started with a clean SP2 source and have tried 2 approaches: slipstream SP3 first and then WMP11 - or - slipstream WMP11 first and then SP3. After each I have integrated IE7 (Onepiece's 1.9.2) and a few other small addons (using either nlite 1.4.1 or integrater 1.5b32).

Either way I have had various issues and/or odd behaviors after the Windows installation. If I omit WMP11 the resulting installation does not have the issues (using nlite).

Does anyone have any thoughts or comments on WMP11+IE7+SP3 with respect to order of integration or procedure or tool (nlite or integrater)?

i tested with sp3 and had no problems.
i used xp gold then i integrated sp3 and then i used slipstreamer.
then i reused nlite to slip down my source. by the way there is a problem with latest sp3 and nlite.....dont remove security center and all will be fine.

@boooggy

Two questions: One - did you slipstream SP3 using nlite or using the integrate command (it shouldn't matter...but ya never know)? and two - did you include IE7 in the final nlite slipstream operation?

Ahhh...yet another question: which version of IE7 or whose addon and version?

when u come with some prove then contact me.
wmp files have nothing to do with time settings. time settings are affected by latest microsoft time hotfix and this only messes up.

I did a Google search on the phrase "wmp11temp\extracted\control.xml" for here and MSFN and it doesn't seem that this exact error has been reported yet.

I'm slipstreaming all of the hotfixes that you have listed on your site to an untouched XP SP2 source. What may be of interest is that I'm doing it via command line.

Code: Select all

SAV 10 for AV. No firewall on this particular computer. SAV isn't complaining about any sort of unknown threats.

EDIT: The process seems to work when I do it via GUI instead of command line.

Umm.. it pretty much dies immediately. I think that the slipstreamer is decompressing the WMP11 install file.

Sorry but I'm not in mood to play whack a mole with processes. There's hardly anything running on this computer at all. It's older than the hills, half of the services are stopped and nothing ancillary is running. SAV is responsible for at least 1/4 of the threads running.

I think I've figured out the problem. My XP image was on one hard drive and the WMP11 Slipstreamer, WMP11 install file, and WMP11 hotfixes were on a different hard disk. When they're all on the same hard drive it seems to work just fine.

Well I spoke a little soon. It is crashing again, but it's from command line and not crashing from GUI. When I get home I'm going to try this on a different computer just to rule out that there isn't something wrong with the one I am using here at work.

I'm new to slipstreaming and wanted to try just slipstreaming WMP11 into XP. I tried using WMP11 Slipstreamer and keep getting errors at different points in the process. I started with a fresh copy of XP Home w/SP2 and WMP11 and shutdown Comodo Antivirus, Firewall, BoClean (Malware) and Norton AntiBot. When I try WMP11 with NO hotfixes, it crashes after the CAB file has been created during the "Compressing Add. File" stage. When I try intergrating with ALL 12 hotfixes, it crashes during the "extracting WMP11" stage at the beginning. I also tried starting with a fresh copy of XP Pro w/SP2 and it crashes during the extraction stage at the beginning as well. I created a zipped text file showing the error messages which I'm going to try to attach to this message. Any ideas on what to try next. Thanks

Can't find a way to attach the file but I can provide further info as needed

Ok, I think that I can rule out file corruption because I am able to get this to work with the GUI. Here is the command line sequence that I am using. I have also tried some variations of it. As an example I have tried putting a trailing backslash at the end of the winsource. Well here it is and if you have any suggestions for me to try I will try them.

Code: Select all

WMP11Slipstreamer.exe /installer:"C:\WMP11\WMP11Slipstreamer.exe" /winsource:"C:\Repack" /hotfix:"C:\WMP11|WindowsMedia11-KB928788-x86-intl.exe|WindowsMedia11-KB929399-v2-x86-intl.exe|WindowsMedia11-KB929773-x86-intl.exe|WindowsMedia11-KB932390-x86-intl.exe|WindowsMedia11-KB933547-x86-intl.exe|WindowsMedia11-KB935551-x86-intl.exe|WindowsMedia11-KB935552-x86-intl.exe|WindowsMedia11-KB939209-x86-intl.exe|WindowsMedia11-KB939683-x86-ENU.exe|WindowsMedia11-KB942264-x86-intl.exe|WindowsMedia11-KB943335-x86-intl.exe|WindowsMedia11-KB944110-x86-intl.exe" /customicon:"Boooggy" /output:"Tweaked" /slipstream /closeonsuccess
The code formatting in phpBB seems to show up a little whacked in firefox, but that is one single line of command.

Before the first hotfix, why not change the | with a \. That might be causing your error.

It might be looking for the file WMP11.
