Thanks MrNxDmx for the update.

On a side note will you be doing an addon for IE8 or will you be waiting until it becomes final.

Looking forward to it. For some reason, IE8 fails to install on my (heavily nLited) laptop; I've previously had succes installing IE7 directly by modifying the inf in your pack, which works quite well despite not being supported :P So unless I decide to reformat soon I'd initially try it out like that.

forgive the possible idiocy of this question, but can this be integrated onto a server 2003 source, or am i better off using onepiece's 2k3 addon?

Hi,

I downloaded NR_IE7en_Addon_1.0.9a.7z (NOT the alternate version) and specified it as an AddonPack in Integrator 1.5. Is that correct? It's not an UpdatePack, right? It didn't work; IE7 didn't install even though other addons did. What could I be doing wrong?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

@joll69 - MrNxDmX's addon is for XP, so stay wih onepiece's addon.

@cleverswine - the older addon is not compatible with RVMi 1.5 I think.

MrNxDmX clearly states that version doesn't work with 1.51, you need the newer version.

Mind you I'm suprised I integrated 1.0.9a with 1.51 4 times works perfectly although seems to make a much smaller iso with later v10

Well for me, I used IE7addon 1.09a and RvmI 1.51 (not 1.5) and never got any problem. I'm using it with two computers right now.

I haven't tried the new IE7addon 1.10 yet. May be on my next installation.

Guys, it turns out I did use 1.5.1, not 1.5. I was going by the version in Integrator's titlebar (that says 1.5), but the filename says RVM_Integrator_1.5.1.exe.

So what should I be looking at to debug this? All the other addons install just fine.

@ joll69: Havent tried with server 2003, i dont use it, sorry. You'd better use onepieces addon

@ cleverswine: Yep, integrating ie7 as an addon pack i correct. But if ie7 doesnt get installed, there should be other problems in your disc. Please go to your inf directory, and check if NR_IE7en.inf exists.
If ie icon in start menu not ie7 one,my addon doesnt seem to get installed. I need to see your integrator log files to be sure.

@ All: I havent tried 109a versions with RVMi 1.5.1. But some users reports that it works ok.
As 1.1.0 is out, its better to use RVMi 1.5.1 and 1.1.0 addons. No need to waste our time with testing 109a with RVMi 1.5.1

I didn't quite catch this before:

So the Normal Addon is like a switchless installer and does NOT really integrated with the windows source. While...

The Alternative addon does really replace the windows source files which is a true addon.

If that is the case, then I'll be using the IE7 Alternative addon from now on.

So has anyone had any problem using the Alternative? (BTW: I only use RVMIntegrator and not nLite).

Almost since the beginning of this addon, I have always used the Alternative version. Never a problem.

Last time I check all went fine with 5508 build. I did not test it with 5512 ...so I can't confirm I think there should not be any problems...

Agreed.
I've done a test install with sp3 rtm. IE7 addon installed and run ok, but there were weird errors in setuperr.log file. I'll investigate them later.

AFAIK, Current IE7 installers wont work on a system that has sp3 installed/integrated. We'd better wait M$ to release a compatible installer for sp3.

I've updated addons with 947864 but couldt test them because of system failure. Will upload asap.

Hi, MrNxDmX,
Sorry but I don't agree with your post. I'm running the integrated XPSP3 5512 (without any addons or update packs) with IE7 installed normally on it. Unlike the previous beta versions, IE 7 installed without any problem. I also installed IE7-WindowsXP-KB947864-x86-ENU.exe on it.
Thanks.

In my tests with IE7 and sp3 (no more additions) result was success too. But when i look in syssetuperr.log file, i saw errors, that were not in xp sp2 versions. Thats why i posted above post
Can you please check that log file?

project51, they work on both sp2 and sp3. In sp3, Setuperr.log file has errors in it, though.

@ All: Here's the detailed reg settings that will bring back the IE icon on desktop. I couldnt find a solution for the entry in desktop properties.
I want to add these keys, what do you think?
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer]
"NoInternetIcon"=dword:00000000

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\HideDesktopIcons\ClassicStartMenu]
"{871C5380-42A0-1069-A2EA-08002B30309D}"="0"

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\HideDesktopIcons\NewStartPanel]
"{871C5380-42A0-1069-A2EA-08002B30309D}"=dword:00000000

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer]
"NoInternetIcon"=dword:00000000

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\HideDesktopIcons\ClassicStartMenu]
"{871C5380-42A0-1069-A2EA-08002B30309D}"=dword:00000000

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\HideDesktopIcons\NewStartPanel]
"{871C5380-42A0-1069-A2EA-08002B30309D}"=dword:00000000
Try it yourself. Save this code as a reg file then run it. The icon appears on desktop. (If not just refresh the desktop, or restart your computer).
Then delete the icon on desktop. Then re-reun the reg file. Icon is back again :P

It didn't work for me this time. Was it because I change the "svcpack" folder to "SVCPACK" ?

I guess so. I'll integrate again later....

ENU_user, yep, that doesnt bring ie option in desktop properties > Desktop > Customize, but i have another solution for ie icon, aait for my next release

project51, IMO, your test iso is somewhat corrupt, i remember systems like that. There were errors on svcpack.inf or some other inf files of windows that results a system like yours. Please try again.

I did, again. Third try:

My setuperr.log is something like this:

project51 ,very basically: those errors are common for this addon
you can read back on this thread to find more info..

Your corrupt installation is because of napclientprov.mof file errors. You're maing an unattended installation, and windows wont show the cannot find the file dialog. In result, it will cancel copying files and result will be corrupt.
Please use the addon posted here with ie7 addon in order to prevent the mentioned error: SP3 WBEM Fix AddOn

ENU_user: I couldnt understand your request :(
Can you explain it for me, please?
Why do you need a script for installing hotfixes?

i am only looking into how to make this addon switchless so it runs @ RunOnceEx as a switchless installer

so its possible to run it, after the desktop is fully up or at any time, on already running system ..

i guess it will require a reboot, but i don't mind that then whats to be cleaned or adjusted before it can be launched from its inf install, completely switchless .etc

I don't think you're going to get this addon in a switchless installer form. It's just not really possible. I suppose you could make a switchless installer from the IE7 installer and then separate installers for the hotfixes.

I assumed the same ,was only curious how MrNxDmX would make it to be....
that will include workarounds or any recommended tweaks as needed..etc

yet, here is a good source with a simple layout that includes many workarounds with linked kb articles & hotfixes .all concerning IE7 of course daily updated

IMO, you're on vista system. And you've made your integration on vista. If you check your installation source, you'll see that there is no svcpack folder.
Can you confirm this?

ENU_user, I agree with RogueSpear. It will be hard to maintain a switchless addon that will install ie7 and required hotfixes.
But I'll search around for you, and will look for what i cand o

I keep seeing references to NR_IE7en_Addon_1.1.1, yet I see no indication that this thread was updated to reflect that addon.

Just curios as to where this addon was posted.

But it will only work with the addition of the said SP3 WBEM Fix Addon. Without the WBEM Fix... it doesn't work.

But my setuperr.log is something like this again (too many to list):

Code: Select all

Error:
Setup detected that the system file named [c:\windows\system32\iernonce.dll] is not signed properly
by Microsoft. This file could not be restored to the correct Microsoft version.
Use the SFC utility to verify the integrity of the file.

I get about the same result. XP Home OEM SP2 slipped to SP3 using nLite 1.4.5 beta 2 using XP Pro.

Used RyanIntegrator 1.5.3 for:

RVMAddonsWGAN_1.7.18.7b.7z
Boooggy_WMP11_Addon.7z
NR_IE7en_Addon_1.1.1.7z
NR_WBEM_Fix_AddOn.7z
OEMSCAN_ADDON_Dell_1.3.7z.

And get 18 files in the setuperr.log file. Should I not be using one of my add-ons?

That is already an outdated addon. Don't use that.

The error log are all related to IE. Don't know what it mean though  Nevertheless, it's working.

Umm thanks for testing mates. What about the svcpack folder? Is it on the source? If yes, does it have cat files in it?

project51, i'm really glad to hear its working.
MS released a new ie7 installer for sp3 systems. I'll check it, and update addons if needed.
Also, i found a nice way for restoring the ie icon on desktop :)
Cheers

Thanks Seraph.

Much appreciated.

The svcpack has:

Code: Select all

IDNDL.CA_
IE7.CA_
IE7-KB928090.CA_
IE7-KB938127.CA_
IE7-KB947864.CA_
KB915865.CA_
NLSDL.CA_
Seems to be perfect. They were all copied (uncompressed) to:

Code: Select all

C:\WINDOWS\system32\CatRoot\{F750E6C3-38EE-11D1-85E5-00C04FC295EE}
But the setuperr.log complains about it. What do you think :?:

Hi, MrNxDmX and others,
The new IE 7 installer is the same of the previous one. MS only changed the posted date to May 5. The Digital Signature date is still Tuesday August 14, 2007. :(

@ project51: I dont have the answer yet mate :(

@ armond: Yep, thanks for reporting. They also re-published the IE7-KB947864 hotfix, but nothing new in it :(
The md5 hashes of ie7 installer and IE7-KB947864 hotfix are same as before.
Grrr, M$...

In addition, IE7-WindowsXP-KB938127-x86-ENU.exe does not, and probably will not install on XPSP3. I think that if a user install an integrated version of XPSP3 and then install IE7 on it, will be vulnerable because IE 7 installer replaces the vgx.dll file. Is this correct? :( :!:
