Thanks...

1 NOTE: RyanVM had said to me that he shall removes the following entry in the next addon:

Code: Select all

[general]
forcelang=English
Because it's doing nothing, only it blocks the addon if you use it in nLite and you don't have an English Windows.

Can you fix it?

To arco, you're right, as the MS release is for all the languages, this switch is useless.

So I remove these switches :

forcelang=English
language=English

The AddOn has been updated.

Thanks

Something is wrong with this addon. I integrated it in my installation. Then I installed Windows Xp on virtual machine. Then I used directx web installer to check is there any updates and it found updates from April to August (including April and August) :shock:

Why? Whats wrong?

regarding this particular add-on, txtsetup.sif, and nlite.

It it still necessary to manually edit the two "flash9c" lines to read "flash9d" for this pack to be properly registered?

Hello,
Look in the entries ini of this addon, the INF is not referenced in i386_compress, instead there is R_DX9C.inf which doesn't exist (DX9C.INF exists), so the INF ends up uncompressed in the I386 of the source...

Not a breaking error so next release please fix it...

Just unpack the addon somewhere, open entries_dx9c.ini, in the [i386_compress] section, replace R_DX9C.inf with DX9C.inf

It's a very minor issue that will not cause any problems except the INF will remain uncompressed...

Windows setup copies it correctly whether it is compressed or not...

no, it isn't... new dx 9 update won't be out until december 2007/january 2008

don't know why they changed the date on the download page as the dx web installer is from 2001

The October version has not been released yet. DirectX is usually updated every other month. October is the month that a new version is due, maybe it will be released in the next week or so?

Since August 2007 it is updated quarterly, i.e. November/December 2007 should be the date (thought it was every 4 months when i wrote my 1st post)

Publish dates rarely coincide with anything important, Outbreaker. They "publish" old code far too often, even after it's been available for a while through other means. DeaDruiD is correct concerning the new schedule for DirectX releases:
Microsoft wrote:New Release Schedule

Starting after the August 2007 release of the DirectX SDK, Microsoft will deliver future updates four times per year. The next five releases now planned for delivery are:
  • August 2007
  • November 2007 (instead of October and December)
  • March 2008 (instead of February and April)
  • June 2008
  • August 2008
This delivery schedule will continue our strong track record of regularly releasing new features and tools, while allowing for longer technology development cycles.

Looks like they are starting to wind-down their efforts to support DX9. I just wish they would release DX10 for Windows XP. :cry:

That's the runtime, newsposter. It's only 5.3 MB larger than the August 2007 release. Keep in mind that the redistributable installer also includes the x64 runtimes. ;)

I have done an Updated Version of Direct X 9.0C (November 2007). Can I post it or must I wait for update from Nico or Ryan? The Addon is currently under tests and is based on Ryan's and Nico's work...

Dude, I appreciate your work, but do you test your addon before publishing?

Same problem still exist, directx web installer still shows that I need to install updates from April to November.

Please fix this.

Hey Nico,
probably you have forget to include x3daud12.inf and x3daud12.cat because it's the first time that x3daud12.dll have an inf file and a cat file.

Neither update packs include these files, which the web installer installs:

D3DCompiler_33.dll (3/12/2007)
D3DCompiler_34.dll (5/16/2007)
D3DCompiler_35.dll (7/19/2007)
D3DCompiler_36.dll (10/2/2007)
d3dx10_33.dll (3/12/2007)
d3dx10_34.dll (5/16/2007)
d3dx10_35.dll (7/19/2007)
d3dx10_36.dll (10/2/2007)

I added the inf and cat for x3daudio 1.2, but that wasn't enough. I added the 8 files I mentioned above along with their catalogs and infs and added on vanilla XP SP2, the DirectX web installer reports on a clean install: "DirectX setup has determined that a newer or equivalent version of DirectX has installed already. No installation is necessary." setuperr.log logs no errors and the files say Digital Signature is OK on their property sheet.

But I don't have permission to post it.

Further edit: I have tested with vanilla XP SP2 and with the update pack along with code's update pack update, and it works.

Good job redxii, but at this point can you also include remaining files for dx10? They are in DEC2006_d3dx10_00_x86.cab and they are less of 200 kb so you'll obtain a full dx9-dx10 package.

The DX10 files are not included because this addon is for XP and DX10 is not working on it...
