LOL look in the entries file. They are now being compressed during integration. No it will not create duplicate files.

@Kelsenellenelvian

You should remove CMDOW from list in the first post, as it may be confusing.

Could you include PowerCalc and Virtual Desktops PowerToys?

I know this was asked before, but how about replacing the default paint with paint.NET?

There's a utility called 4 desk. It's made by korean programmer, but english is supported as well

http://www.kipple.pe.kr/win/4desk/4DESK133SETUP.EXE

I found it to be much more practical than MS powertoy.

I don't think replacing paint with paint.net is right idea. If you want, you can remove Paint with nLite and silently install Paint.Net . That's what i'm doing

Thanks, 4 desk seems like a better choice.

Another thing that maybe interesting is adding http://www.mouseimp.com/ tho with middle mouse click to activate direct scrolling....not all that sure about the AutoShrink feature...but the scrolling feature is nice for those of us that pride our selves on being lazy. ;)

LOL

Well I have yet to really try this one, but I've heard good reviews about it over all.
http://www.killcode.com/

Tho its currently has a bug dealing with YouSendIt...how ever the ftp is working fine.

Okay a minor nicety would be the addition of this as well. [allSnap]

Now here is some thing that a few may find handy...if any thing its generally out of the way. [IconViewer]

Okay I got to be turning into a pest at this point. ;)

Here is a suggestion for a replacement of WinRoll....[DM2] which over all I think offers a bit more.

Okay here is rather a large suggestion....and maybe some thing to spur a seperate package. That is the inclusion of [Console] since its finally starting to shape up...but with a few tabs setup to maybe contain geek stuff like [bash] and [psftp] and the like.

Okay last thing I'm going to suggest....hehe I think. ;)

Kelsenellenelvian -

Since I'm always bugging you...figured I'd try to maybe pitch in a bit.

Any ways I came across an app some time ago that would create shortcuts to not so commonly known tools available in WinXP...there are probably a number of them it still didn't link to.

Well to the point I created a half-ass AutoIt script that reads shortcuts and then generates a script to recreate them at a later time. I'll likely make it a tad more easier to use in the near future...but for now this is what I have...along with what it generated following.

Code: Select all

$path1 = @ProgramsCommonDir & '\Accessories'
$path2 = '\Admin\System Tools'

Dim $details

Func _CleanUp( )
	$d_Mac = @TempDir & "|" & @ProgramFilesDir & "|" & @SystemDir & "|" & @WindowsDir & "|" & @HomeDrive
	$d_Var = "%temp%|%programfiles%|%windir%\system32|%windir%|%homedrive%"
	$nd_Mac = StringSplit ( $d_Mac , '|' , 1 )
	$nd_Var = StringSplit ( $d_Var , '|' , 1 )

	For $h = 0 to 5
		For $i = 1 To $nd_Mac[0]
			If StringInStr ( $details[ $h ] , $nd_Mac[$i] ) = 1 Then
				$details[ $h ] = StringReplace ( $details[ $h ] , $nd_Mac[$i] , $nd_Var[$i] )
			EndIf
		Next
	Next
EndFunc

Func _FindShortcut( )
	$search	= FileFindFirstFile ( $path1 & '\*.lnk' )
	If $search <> -1 Then
		While 1
			$file = FileFindNextFile ( $search )
			If @Error Then ExitLoop

			If $file <> '.' AND $file <> '..' Then
				$details = FileGetShortcut( $path1 & '\' & $file )
				_CleanUp( )
				FileWrite ( $list , '; ' & StringTrimRight ( $file , 4 ) & @CRLF )
				FileWrite ( $list , 'FileCreateShortcut ( "' & $details[0] & '" , $path & "\' & $file & '" , "' & $details[1] & '" , "' & $details[2] & '" , "' & $details[3] & '" , "' & $details[4] & '" , "" , ' & $details[5] & ' , ' & $details[6] & ' ) ' & @CRLF & @CRLF )
			EndIf
		WEnd
		FileClose	( $search )
	EndIf
EndFunc

; Create Shortcut Listing
$list = FileOpen( @DesktopDir & "\Shortcut List.au3", 1 )
FileWrite ( $list , '$path = @ProgramsCommonDir & "' & $path2 & '"' & @CRLF )
FileWrite ( $list , 'If FileExists ( $path ) <> 1 Then DirCreate ( $path )' & @CRLF & @CRLF )

Hehe likely to get yelled at for the spam..but I didn't see any way to attach the txt files...and my ftp is currently down. :(

Now the "About XP Utility Enabler" & "Configuration Utility" well fail....first one since its to a text file thats not likely to exist...and the other for some reason just doesn't have a target in it....any ways just a heads up and maybe I'll have some thing more useful in the future...or if some one knows of a utility that already does this...please point me in the right direction.

@ nologic = Thank you it looks quite interesting. Right now though I am going through a complete rebuild of the uber-pack and trying to track down this supposed explorer error that has been attributed to my pack.

Well I'm not sure its your pack thats at fault....the system I'm running right now doesn't have it installed but I do have the issue....not exactly sure when it cropped up as I've been toying with a boat load of extensions as of late...hehe if you couldn't tell. ;)

If you know of any app's that will make a list of installed and active extensions....please give me a link...maybe cross ref between what you have and what I have installed may speed up finding out what the issue is.

i do think its better to make nirsoft a seperate addon pack, so to not include it in uber. i do use nirsoft, but i sitll think its better to seperate it. keep uber simpler and smaller

now what's the focus of uber.... what do u guys use uber for?

i think i use it for unlocker, taskswitcher, those powertweaks are cool

I don't know how you feel about this, but I was wondering why not keep only the things that are not there in Ryan's Addon pack in the Uber pack. Basically, Uber pack ought to contain everything it has right now, add a few of the utilities suggested above, less 'Ryan's Addon pack' and 'Nirsoft apps'. This way one could simply slipstream your Uber pack along with Ryan's addon and the Nirsoft pack to have everything.

Hey Kel !!!

If u want u can also get the newest version of ShellExtensions made by Synesis ShellExtensions...
especially the FileCase, CMDHere, Run program shell extension DLL files

I can send u an RAR file with these updated DLL files of the package 2.0.2 found on their website:
http://shellext.synesis.com.au/ and http://shellext.synesis.com.au/shellext2_0_2.html

Umm, what's all this talk about explorer? IE or Windows? How can I find out if I have the 'bug'? I just reinstalled xp2 earlier this morning using Kel's latest uber and CPL and a few others.
So far I'm not noticing anything weird, other than Quake 4 1.3 seems to crash with some memory error when exitting. It never did that before.

Also about the nirsoft voting, there is a Poll setup by Kel. for just that very 'issue'.
http://www.ryanvm.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2723
So go vote!

Kelsenellenelvian -

Your using the freeware version of MMM correct? I'm just wondering as I've turned off MMM+ and now explorer seems to be working fine thus far. So that might be where the issue is.

Windows Explorer seems to ether bogg down or crash a lot.

Oh ok then.
I do get some mouse waiting icons whenever I open win. explorer and trying to get to a folder on HD quickly, usually about 2-4 seconds passes before all the + icons turn to their appropriate settings. It takes longer when I have discs in my dvd drives though it was doing all of that on my May '06 WinXP install too. I do have the "Allow Indexing Service to index this drive for fast file searching" OFF/unticked. I wonder if I should turn it back on.
No crashing so far. Never had it crash yet in all my XP experience.
Is the crashing 'method' reproducable?
BTW, I've always noticed since Win98se days that whenever w.explorer started acting weird (like + signs next to folders that had NO subfolders) it was time for a wipeout and reinstall, usually about every 4-6 months  .

Edit: I see that my voting post got the message through.

Sounds sort of like the issue at hand...but far less as drastic as what I've been experincing...tho like I said above, this system doesn't currently have the UberPack installed...but it does have a lot of the same extensions installed.

How ever I do appear to be wrong about Mmm+...as I just happened to hit a period where the system wasn't thrashing about as much is all.

Oh and I don't think your having Indexing turned off matters with this issue. As for reproducing it...well on my system its all amatter of time before things go tits up. ;) Explorer goes down about once an hour for me.

You may want to take a look at the following command line launchers.

[SlickRun]
[Launchy]
[Colibri]

Hotkeys
[HoeKey]
[Qliner hotkeys] (probably way to big but cool all the same)

Your using the freeware version of MMM correct? I'm just wondering as I've turned off MMM+ and now explorer seems to be working fine thus far. So that might be where the issue is.

It will just update the new changes I made. I would suggest using a fresh source for this one though.

The 'LIST of things inlcluded', does not seem to be updated or rather seems to be incorrect, with things like CMDOW still listed in it. I thought CMDOW had been removed in a couple of versions earlier. Kel, could you please review the list it and update it correctly.

Also, if I may ask, why have the following been removed:

Code: Select all

Removed Ninotech date edit.
Removed AudioShell Extension
Removed Open Expert
Removed Office Update Engine
Are these all available as seperate addons?

As always, thanks a lot for your work here.

NO You may NOT ask!

Actually I was trying to cut down the overall size a little and also remove a little bit of the shell extensions to prevent the exlorer hanging issue that apparently my pack has caused.

Office update engine ws removed because this is a windows addon not an office addon.

I had to make some tough decisions to clean and fix this pack but all of the others are available as seperat addons.

I am a little confused by that. What exactly do you mean by it?

Thanks for updating the 'LIST of things included'.

@ Sanjay: You can find office update engine here, and also you can search for addons here: Member-Submitted Addon Packs Download List

Thanks for your response, but it is not the link that I was looking for. That I could have searched, what I was confused about is what Kel mea'nt by, "because this is a windows addon not an office addon."

I think what Kel meant was his uber pack is for 'Windows addons' specifically, and not for other programs like office or others. Office updates is for Office thus he removed it from his pack.

Unlocker updated to 1.8.4 http://ccollomb.free.fr/unlocker/#download

Update it next month for the next updatepack release, this is not that important
