Hi guys, the title says it all really, but I would love an addon that pre installs the LightScribe drivers, and control applet. It's one of those silly drivers thats easy to forget to install.
Kind regards,
Stimpy

I am always forgetting to install the lightscribe software so I might take a stab at it tonight. I have all of the files (including the control panel files) but I would love to know a way of detecting if a drive is lightscribe capable and only installing if it is. Maybe a VBScript or something? Anybody have any ideas?

Something like this would be super helpful. Sometimes its hard to know if a machine has a lightscribe drive or not. We miss it on about 90% of the machines we install windows on.
I suppose it wouldn't hurt anything if the lightscribe driver was installed but no lightscribe drive present?

Yes Cyberloner, without the Lightscribe driver, you don't have LightScribe functions. Not even Nero comes with the LightScribe driver.

@cyberloner excellent work I tested it on a live system and it seems to work fine. Quick question did you just run the msi with the /q /norestart switch or did you make other changes to the msi also if there is no lightscribe drive with it still install?
Thanks,
dolivas
Edit: other than the StartMenuShortcuts path change in the MSI did you make any other changes?

What am I missing. I have a lightscribe drive, and all I install is the free Nero and I can use it with Nero. Is what I'm missing the ability to use other programs to "print" to lightscribe? Please tell me what this is about....

Well Keegan, unless Nero have started bundling the LightScribe driver inside Nero, then you would normally not be able to burn LightScribe labels to disc without the LightScribe driver already present on your system. This is what Cyber's addon will do for you, as well as installing the control panel applet which also means that you can use the extended contrast setting.

Well, I've bought myself and others many DVD drives, so I don't know for sure that my Nero Lite install disc came with my lightscribe burner. It most likely did, so I can only assume they were kind enough to make this feature work with Nero out of the box (or sleeve, whatever)

Any chance of an update? To Lightscribe version 1.18.1.1...?
I tried figuring this out myself, but where was Cyberloner getting his LS.exe from?
Thanks for any help...

In addition to my previous post you can find my LightScribe_addon
also updated to v1.18.5.1 (I know there is a newer v1.18.6.1 that
adds support for Win7 but the installer is bigger aswell)
It is required prior to installing the Labelmaker_addon
size: 8.21MB LightScribe_1.18.5.1_Addon.7z

The addon that is created using jamesbebby's silent install isn't nlite compatible for some reason (type of compression?). Can someone create one that works with nlite. Thanks in advance.
