Most of my Unatennded setup is build using
Kelsenellenelvian Packs (anyone else notice the same??) And his wpi tool has me hooked as well!!! All he really needs to make is a whole operating system (win compatable) and I would be using that too!!
Thanks for the great works and glad he's feeling better cause I'd be lost without checking these forums (many times daily) for a new pack or switchless to play with (and after trial and errors) he get the best pack for the job. . . Also I have found his name popping up in almost every forum I visit too (gets about).
Whoops I was just ment to post 'Thanks Kel' (But I guess he deserves some praise)!!
Have a nice night (dark here)!!

Hey Kel! Are you going to update your addon with the v1.5.716.0 of LegitCheckContro.dll?

With all due respect, I think this addon is 'superseded' by http://www.ryanvm.net/msfn/updatepack.html -> RyanVM WGA Addon 1.5.716.0.

thanks Kel!
I was just wandering then, since both this addon and Ryans WGA Addon contain just the LegitCheckControl.dll, what is the benefit of using this addon instead of Ryan's? What difference does it make that Ryan's adds some registry entries to tell windows KB892130 has been installed, isn't this the hotfix number that does the validation through windows update, its got nothing to do with the one that installs WGATray etc onto your computer?

Really? I understood that Ryans addon included all the WGA 'extras', not just the dll. Granted, I couldn't find an accurate description of Ryans addon. After going through the contents of ryans .7z file, you are correct. I just never noticed it before. Ryans addon only includes the legit check control dll, an ini answer file and the inf file.ViVa wrote:Is it? Ryan's addon doesn't include WGA Notifications either...
I stand corrected, I apologize for my previous curt post.

no worries mr_smartepants
(that sounds like I'm being sarcastic... lol)
Are Kel or Ryan there to answer? To me it sounds like this addon and ryans do the same thing now, I was just unsure what the relevance of the slight differences were. I figured since Microsoft dropped the KB905474 update from Windows Update, this is why Ryan just made his addon LegitCheckControl.dll only, so to keep in sync with the Microsoft offered download for WGA.
anyone?

pupil - you're exactly correct for why I dropped notifications. And yes, I'd say at this point that mine and Kel's addons do the exact same thing.

Direct Link to the CAB from MS. I'll try to update the WGA Addon on my page shortly.
EDIT: Mine's done

Hehehehe
Thx, m8.
Surprised to see your reply. Didn't think you were up.
I often check MS Update as soon as I install to make sure I have zero updates left. MS's update website always wants to install WGA crap first before telling me what other updates I need. I want to skip that. For this purpose, would yours be better, or Ryan's?
(Yes, it's legit.)
PS: How come u don't have an Update Pack? Ryan has one. Xable and boooggy, too.

Kel, I haven't distributed WGATool since it was taken off MU months ago...(hence the KB892130 it says right behind it on my page

Sorry, Viva.
It's kinda hard to understand when:
a) It's new. For example, does anyone really understand IE7 or WMP11 fully yet? (For the answer, try to find boooggy's WMP11 Addon. Really.)
b) Different members post contradicting information.
I know it may seem at times that some of us are completely clueless, but we're just curious, and want to LEARN. Then, maybe WE can help less-informed people on the forums as well.

Practically there is no point in doing so indeed, but the thing here is that Kel came up with it first, Ryan decided later to split WGA up from his Update Pack, because many ppl were requesting so.
The reg entries are for "neatness sake".
Both addons do practically the same thing, so yes both make the update "already installed" for WU/MU.
