Problems with WM9 Streams and DirectShow

Great, thanks! You might be able to help out with a problem I have (your update and new RVMi did not solve this).

I'm having issues with WMP in XP x64. Earlier you wrote me an order I could try using RVMi, nLite and the wmp-slipstreamer. Currently I'm doing it this way on an XP x64 SP2 retail source:

- RVMi to Update with 5er_UpdatePack alone.
- RVMi to Addon
- your IE6-pack
- DirectXRuntimes32Bit-200811.exe
- DirectXRuntimes64Bit-200811.exe

- boooggy's WMP11 XP x64 Slipstreamer including all current hotfixes.

- nLite to add drivers and tweaks.

I'm not that harsh with removals, which is why I don't understand that WMP11 will - for example - not play WMP9 webstreams from the get go in IE6 after install is done.
There are also warnings/problems when I install the K-Lite codec pack. K-lite does not find msh263.drv and ir32_32.dll ands some others (because they reside in the Syswow64 folder, not in the system32 folder, which it seems to look for), and it shows many missing CLSID registry entries regarding DirectShow which is strange..
Isn't WMP11 suppose to be able to play WMP9 content?

For clarity here's the Last Session ini I currently use for my image:

You're welcome. :)

WM9 audio and video streams from Microsoft work for me, Passion. I followed these steps:
  1. Used RyanVM Integrator 1.5.4 beta 12 with default settings to integrate both of the following in one step:
    • 5er_UpdatePack_XPx64SP2_2009-02_2.7z
    • 5er_IE6Update_Addon_2008-12_1_x64.7z
  2. Used WMP11 Slipstreamer 1.4.1.0 (Vanilla, no advanced options) to slipstream the following:
    • wmp11-windowsxp-x64-enu.exe
    • windowsmedia11-kb928788-x64-intl.exe
    • windowsmedia11-kb929399-v2-x64-intl.exe
    • windowsmedia11-kb929773-x64-intl.exe
    • windowsmedia11-kb932390-x64-intl.exe
    • windowsmedia11-kb933547-x64-intl.exe
    • windowsmedia11-kb935551-x64-intl.exe
    • windowsmedia11-kb935552-x64-intl.exe
    • windowsmedia11-kb939209-x64-intl.exe
    • WindowsMedia11-KB939683-x64-ENU.exe
    • WindowsMedia11-KB941569-x64-ENU.exe
    • windowsmedia11-kb944882-x64-intl.exe
    • WindowsMedia11-KB952069-x64-ENU.exe
    • windowsmedia11-kb954067-x64-intl.exe
    • WindowsMedia11-KB954154-x64-ENU.exe
    • WindowsMedia11-KB959772-x64-ENU.exe
  3. Used nLite 1.4.9.1 with an edited version of your "Last Session.ini". I made the following changes:
    • Under [Tasks] I removed:
      • Unattended Setup - I use a customized WinNT.sif.
Integrate Drivers - I test in VMware Server 1.0.8 with standardized virtual hardware.
Hotfixes and Update Packs - There is no [Hotfixes] section in your file as posted above.
    • Under [Unattended] I removed everything.
    • Under [NetAdapter1] I removed everything.
    • Under [GuiRunOnce] I removed everything.
    • Under [Drivers] I removed everything.
  4. Used VMware Server 1.0.8 to install Windows from the finished ISO. On the virtual machine I performed the following actions:
    1. Installed the VMaudio driver from VMware's website.
    2. Using IE6, visited Microsoft's Windows Media Demos webpage and checked various audio and video demo streams. WMP11 worked flawlessly.
I can only guess that there's a problem with K-Lite, or perhaps something you haven't specified in your procedure.

Is windowsmedia11-kb959199-x64-intl.exe missing from your list deliberately?

The netadapter was a leftover, but didn't do anything. Added Drivers shouldn't influence WMP install, or should they?

I'm trying again without my GuiRunOnce and see if that works...

Yes, KB959199 is left out intentionally.

I don't believe added drivers would mess anything up with WMP11. Admittedly, I haven't tried installing K-Lite on the virtual machine yet.

OK, I now have the weirdest result. I tried the Updatepack together with the IE6 Addon, then WMP11 slipstreamer and nLite, but now the result ends up with broken IE6 links on the desktop and quicklaunch bar. Hmm.. I really think this combi needs some extra look, or boooggy/nLite is messing up big time.

Perhaps my SP2 source makes the difference? It is a retail SP2, so not a former SP1.

OK, I found out this is not a good idea at all. You should not do these in one step. Something goes terribly wrong when you do them in one go, as noted in previous message.
What worked best for me was first your Update-pack, then do the Addon(s).

I've never had a problem integrating them both at once. I always test that way.

I'm beginning to wonder if something got corrupted on your end. Do the MD5 hashes match? You could also try the latest Integrator.
