Thanks for making this addon, Kelsenellenelvian. I'll give it a try as soon as I can. 8)

Hmmm ... do you think this might work under Win 7? I have since moved away from XP x64, but will still like to try it out, I just do not want certain programs (like tweakui) messing up more than it should.

Kel; This installs as \Program Files (x86)\System\CPL Bonus\ and is nowhere to be found in the Control Panel or any other menu/icon. I don't think this is your intention, or is it?

I might know where the problem lies when trying to install this;

pserv2_english.dll
timezone.dll

cannot be copied (don't know why), so it jumps out and quits normal installation. After that Startup.cpl is missing, and the inf fails to work.

Although I must say some of these are handy tools, LogonScreenRotator.exe doesn't work in XP64,
Timezone.exe and Memtest.exe seem like overkill. How often does one change timezones, and doesn't the Windows native option suffice? How often does one require to check RAM? In my 25 years administrating computers I've seen maybe 3 rare cases where RAM was bad. (Maybe just buy reliable brands everybody?)
Autoruns is a far improved option over Startup.cpl.
HPUSBFW.EXE doesn't work on my USB sticks (HP only?).

Anyway, guess I can make my own version of this..

What type of XP64 are you testing on? I now get a "Files Needed" dialog saying:
The file 'Startup.cpl' on Main CPL files is needed.

Type the path where the file is located, and then click OK.

Copy files from:
box with path to .inf file\AMD64 - Browse button
This is on a fresh XP x64 SP2 with 5eraphs updatepack only.

Thanks, Kelsenellenelvian. I'm sorry it took so long to start testing this. I have some fixes for you. :)

Addon v1.2:
  • No problems found so far. :)
Installer v1.2:
  1. The following symptoms currently occur because your INF is incorrectly being called from a 32-bit process.
    • Files are incorrectly installed to %ProgramFiles(x86)%.
    • Registry entries are incorrectly sent to Wow6432Node.
    • Control Panel does not list new CPL applications.
    You must either explicitly call the INF from a 64-bit process with something like the following code, or use the x64 WinRAR SFX module (either GUI or console, GUI tested) for the installer to work properly with XP/2003 x64.

    Code: Select all

    Setup="%SystemRoot%\[color=white]SysNative[/color]\RunDLL32.exe" advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection CPLBonus.inf,defaultinstall
  2. CPLBonus.inf cannot be uninstalled because the INF cannot be found. Adding the following lines to CPLBonus.inf should solve the problem.

    Code: Select all

    [SourceDisksNames]
    1 = "Main CPL files"

    [SourceDisksFiles]
    CPLBonus.inf = 1

    [DestinationDirs]
    DefaultDestDir = 17

OMG that little bit of info is THE biggest help I have recieved so far in my x64 addon making!!!

You solved so many issues!

Thank you soo much!

p.s. This

[SourceDisksNames]
1 = "Main CPL files"

[SourceDisksFiles]
CPLBonus.inf = 1 wasn't needed...

Just the default dest dir.

THANK YOU SOO MUCH!

You're welcome. I'm glad the hours I spent wrestling with my own demon have been applicable here as well. :D

The safest bet for you would be to use WinRAR's x64 SFX. Since I irrationally like 7-Zip so much (it's free and I'm cheap), and since it has no x64 SFX, I'm forced to use the SysNative approach.

I added the extra lines for copying the INF to be on the safe side.

The installer's MD5 has been updated, but the file has not. It's the same here and on WinCert.

The problem may have been mine, Kels. Since the file name and link did not change, it was necessary for me to clear my browser's cache (Firefox 3.5.6). I'm sorry for the confusion.

In any case, thanks. The new installer works flawlessly. :)

You know, I am glad 5eraph found that info for you Kel. I did not notice that most of those programs installed in the control panel as "32-bit". After reinstalling the new version, that seems to have rectified the problem on Win7 now. Keep up the great work!

TweakUI doesn't seem to exist for Vista/7 x64 for whatever reason. Would including a compatible version for XP/2003 x64 be possible/desirable like it is in the x86 CPL pack?

If interested, NeoSmart's MSI can be extracted with 7-Zip or by using the following command line. If you don't already know, the extraction directory must exist before running the command and its full path must be given in TARGETDIR.

Code: Select all

MSIExec.exe /a TweakUI_64Bit.msi TARGETDIR="C:\MSI_Extraction_Dir"

The CPL AddOn doesn't work with XP x64 (at least not for me), but the silent installer does.

EDIT: The silent installer only works on an XP x64 source updated with 5eraph's pack, on a source updated with original Microsoft hotfixes one gets the following error
Windows cannot find '"C:\WINDOWS\Sysnative\RunDLL32.exe'. Make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again. To search for a file, click the Start button, and then click Search.

first i used wmp11 slipstreamer on a standard xp x64 sp2 , then i nlited 5eraph's post-SP2 Update Pack v2011-01_1 and Internet Explorer 8 x64 Addon v2010-12_1 then this addon.....
the control panel links are bad and no icons - shows ugly system icons instead.
i looked around for the files on disk but couldn't find.
great idea though :)

btw i have 2 hard disks c drive is the boot drive and d drive is the windows system.....could that be the issue?

You may want to check SetupErr.log for potential problems with your integration.

If using RVMi you should be integrating the update pack and the addons together (or separately with the update pack first), then use the WMP11 Slipstreamer. Or you could use nLite to do all at once. (I never use nLite more than once on a source, but creating the ISO in a separate session should be okay).

yeah there was an error says that it didn't install correctly.
I assume this is nlites fault but rvmintegrator lacks the ability to insert product key etc and maybe if it is an addon feature, the rvm integrators built in addon download links are dead so its *incomplete* not crap (edited :oops: )

When using nLite it may be necessary to keep the update pack at the top of the list to ensure it gets integrated first. The main problem appears to be the order in which everything was slipstreamed.

I won't go into the merits of using RVMi versus nLite. I'll only say that neither one is "crap."

i tried this in windows xp x64 sp2 and got this error: Setup was unable to build the list of files to copy
for "A Great Addition Of Tools & Utilities In Your CPL." The specific error code is 0xe0000102.
Setup will continue but the component may not function properly.

Very sorry I forgot to add to this thread:

http://www.ryanvm.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=8376

This pack has been re-imagined and lies in the win7 section now.

Don't worry though it is still good for you too.
